SAFETY - http://niscn-ng.com/ Nationa Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria. AnakinSkywalker: Scrap the FRSC and merge them with the Traffic Unit of the Nigerian Police. Do same with the VIO.
Scrap NSCDC and merge them with the Police.
Scrap NOSDRA and NESREA and merge them with the Federal Ministry of Environment. Expand the Federal Ministry of Environment to cover not only Environment, but Occupational Safety, Occupational Health/Industrial Hygiene. Till now we do not have a national regulator for HSE.
Pass the PIB and merge the down stream unit of the DPR with PPPRA.
Tell all regulators apart from the DPR and one or two others, to back off from the Oil and Gas Industry. It is too multi-regulated with little or no impact. All regulators are only seeking for oil companies to pay fees and pay their staff out of pocket when they come for unnecessary inspections in many cases. NOSDRA visits. So does NESREA, LAWMA, LASEPA, DPR, Ministry of Health, NIMASA, Weight and Measures, Chamber of Commerce, Road Safety (in depots), NSCDC, Navy, etc. Etc.
Where is that report written by Orosanye or so, who reccomended many critical MDAs that should be merged? |

Very weak defense! If after reading the article, you still argue this way, one has to wonder about your thought process. There is no single difference between BH, FH or rustlers and this terrorists called NDA and the writer has given enough reasons for that already. The militants are criminals fighting for their pocket and nothing else. Tompolo, Asari Dokubo, and many other past militants became millionaires through militancy while the people they claimed they were fighting for still live in abject poverty.
No sensible being can justify criminal acts on failure of government to yield to militants demands. In as much as I support resource control, I remain unconvinced that it will achieve any desired result where 13% additional derivation has not translated to better living; where creation of Niger Delta Development Commission has not had significant impact; and where creation of Niger Delta ministry has not improved the region's condition.
Just as the writer of that article said, we all are losers in this. And as the people of NE that allowed BH to grow within their region are the biggest losers of the BH terrorism, the same way the ND communities allowing these NDA terrorists bomb oil pipelines and wells will turn out the biggest losers at the end. If I may ask, who have been suffering the past environmental pollution and degradation brought about by similar past sabotage?
Does any northern state have absolute control of resources found in the state? You're obviously misinformed and misguided.
You can't engage in terrorist acts and expect the government to look on. Doing so will amount to giving in to cheap blackmail and terrorism. It's unfortunate that you guys are so misguided not to think of the unfortunate innocent people who will become collateral damage when the FG troops come calling.
I am a proponent of separation. Hi Cleo, a very nice piece u put up here. However, can we exchange numbers over PM, we can take it up from there. Many thanks. Sexycleopatra: Lol.. straightens face
Ladies I believe y'all can relate to this..
Ehem... so the thing is this
Since I joined nairaland, there is one thing I have observed from most nairaland guys who send PM..
When the guy sends a lady pm, and she replies hi or smth, they introduce themselves and all, and she says ok...
Just because they want to ask for the lady's number, the begin to use apian way to do it. with style..
Then next thing, the lady start seeing things like
I'm having issues with my email, can we chat on a better platform? (rotflmao)
I don't use email often, do u have bbm or smth?
To be honest, I dnt enjoy chatn using email, can we chat on a better platform?
I am not very active on bbm and on mail, can I have your whatsapp number?
And so the list goes...
Some bold ones even go as far as giving their numbers without the lady asking, thinking she would add dem up.. just like that?
Comon guys, why not just take things nice and easy... since when did yahoo mail or gmail become a bad platform just because you want the lady's number or you what to see more of her pics?
So are you all now trying to say Google and yahoo are terrible platforms for communication?
We are in the world of smartfones and I believ most people hav got push IMS (instant messaging) so pls stop the lies..
If you want her number, go and collect it. Ask her straightforward, can we exchange numbers? If she is cool with it, she will give you, if she ain't, she won't.. no need to use corner corner style |

U r right as that is the only lasting solution to the recurring scarcity. But the question is since no refinery can be completed within 12 months, Are we willing to be patient and understand that the queues will not permanently disappear overnight, at least not with the continued sabotage by oil unions, deport owners, markets and our brothers who continue to bomb pipelines. Indeed the quickest fix we can get now is COLLOCATION, i just hope the minister is thinking in that direction. omenka: True talk. These things are obsolete and need complete replacement. |

H.E, i asked you if you knew about FLIGHT OPERATIONS not what you are saying. Good you have mention these and if you were quick to point these out, then you should be able to understand that there are no quick fixes to these - Challenges in the Industry, and that they transcend "sitting down". Unfortunately, they are not the same as flight operations ....when next you go to the airport, perhaps you could chat with an ops officer or duty manager to understand better the various "delays" that can be associated with a scheduled flight. Finally this response is more issue oriented, dropping of the political colouration of the first -- #Better Cheers eyeview: Yes son,I do know that you can count the viable commercial airlines with the fingers of one hand. I know that those who are still in operation are doing so under heavy debt profile that occassionally require bail out funds. I know that a few who had dared venture into this sector have packed up. I know that there are more private and chartered airlines now than commercial ones. Son,I know that most who have left complained of so much beaurecracy and high powered extortion from the regulatory bodies like faan, nama, ncaa etc which occassionally has caused friction between the management of the airlines and the regulators. I know that these issues has led to a very few airlines like arik now catering for the teeming population of air passengers. Son,you and I know that if we could boast of just 10viable commercial airlines, this rush won't be there on a single airline. One would have hoped that the minister who covers the aviation sector would sit to discuss with the players and operators on how to open up the opportunities for more commercial airlines and hopefully reduce or even squash the extortions faced by the players at the hands of the regulators. Son,as I speak to you, there are many private aviation companies rendering skeletal auxilliary services waiting for the enabling environment to expand(via international partners or local funding) their services to commercial airlifting. So you see son,I know enough to know that if the minister will sit down to work and look for how to create the enabling environment, there won't be this run on a single flight. Son,I know enough cos we too lie in wait to invest. We pray and hope the sector experiences life. Until then, our group plays in other sectors. Have a nice day. |

Can't these lazy bones wailers just read and understand Perhaps SEUN should start asking for some level of IQ proof for intending members and not just allow every dick, tom and harry that can afford 100 naira data plan to start misplace vituperation. deeMarc: ABUJA—MEMBERS of the adhoc committee of the House of Representatives on failed rail contracts have summoned the Minister of Transport, Mr Rotimi Amaechi; Managing Director of Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, Seyi Sijuwade; former Chairman ofPeoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Mohammed Bello Haliru; and former Minister of Transport, Idris Umar, to explain their roles in the alleged N1 trillion rail contracts scam
The adhoc committee is headed by Ehoizuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, PDP, Ikpoba/Oha Federal Constituency. They are expected to appear before the committee tomorrow during the investigativehearing.Chairman of the adhoc committee, Agbonayinma, confirmed that all the stakeholders had been duly informed and were expected to show up unfailingly tomorrow.Asked why the Minister of Transport was invited, despite the fact that he is barely three monthsold in office, Agbonayinma said: “The Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, was also invited to tell usall he knows, though he just assumed office but you know government is a continuum.“This 8th House is 100 per cent in support of President Muhammadu Buhari’s crusade against any formof corruption.“We are not out to witch-hunt anybody but anyone found wantingin the course of this investigative hearing will be adequately exposedalthough as you are aware, not until it is proven by a competent court that such persons are guilty you can’t say they are guilty.”It would be recalled that during thelast investigative hearing on December 10, former chairman of the NRC board, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, had denied that during his tenure, no contract was awarded by the board he chaired.Tukur, a former chairman of PDP, had told the adhoc committee that the Procurement Act excluded the NRC Board from participating in theaward of railway contracts.“The Board which I chaired, was never involved in any contract award and was never told or invited to participate in issues of contract award of financial disbursement,” he said.He said throughout his stay as theBoard Chairman of the NRC, no issue of contract award of any amount or tune was discussed or awarded by the Board.Another Chairman of the board, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, also a former chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, told the adhoc committee that he was not privileged to appoint any consultant or award contracts for the railway projects.According to Baraje, all the paraphernalia and indices that would assist him carry out his work were all gone.“We only played the role of inspection because the procurement act excluded the board from participating in any contract,’’ he added. He expressed worry that the country’s railway transportation system had suffered neglect, in spite of playing critical role in the development of the economy.Baraje said more attention should be given to the 25-year railway modernisation plan to boost transportation in the country. Also speaking at the hearing Senator Ladan Shuni, another former Board Chairman of the NRC, wondered the essence of inaugurating a board that lacked the capacity to oversee the award of contracts.
