montelik:
Saw this interesting comment recently regarding Hernandez after d Sunderland game.

Chicha for now is not a starter

He’s more of a dessert to be fair. The little Mexican made just 15 passes throughout the afternoon and was barely involved all day which shows that he’s not a link-up player and is more suited to coming on later on in games when defenders have tired and he can use his clever runs to devastating effects. Hernandez sympathisers will claim that his few touches are often goals, as we saw at Goodison last week, but Chicharito needs to up his game if he is going to continue starting games ahead of the likes of Dimitar Berbatov who can hold the ball up better than any and whose link-up play is second to none. United cannot afford an inactive player who is constantly being called offside in the rough and tumble of the Premier League. With Chicha often making the difference from the bench it would surprise none if Fergie went for Welbeck to partner Rooney when the midfield injuries ease.

What do you guys think?
the person who wrote that must be idiotic.

hernandez is a poacher, a born predator with outstanding positioning and supreme awareness and he finishes chances with aplomb. the only thing is he needs world class deliveries to function. van nistelrooy stopped topping the scoring charts when beckham left because ronaldo was too naive to replace beckham.

the writer talks about him drifting offside. that is not chicharito's fault but the slow reaction of the passer. if the passer takes 2 secs more to release the ball, hernandez would be caught offside as he had anticipated the pass 2 seconds earlier to beat the trap. i understand there are games where starting him might not be effective. games where the opposition are likely to defend deep does not suit him as there is no space to run into.

but in the games where opposition are relying on high-line defensive system. hernandez is a killer and he should start such games.
if he manages to spring the offside trap once then we all know where that ball would head to. i wouldn't trust berbatov or rooney in a one v one situation like i would trust hernandez. he's a key player to man utd but he relies on his team-mates to release the ball quickly with precision. how cesc fabregas must love to play with hernandez.

Sorry o! but in my experience, many people here actually have this false belief that the grass is greener on  the other side and it is not correct at all. If making money is your dream, then Nigeria is the place to be at, but if you want the mac-donalds & KFC meals, train rides and the good safe life, then please by all mean go abroad. All I did was share my experience based on me and what I have seen many other Nigerians experiencing over there and my answer is simple, it is not worth it at all!! Especially if you have to suffer through the desert to get there.

Chikina!
there are opportunities to make one's grass greener abroad but then it depends on the individual.

some nigerians come abroad without any knowledge base/skill from nigeria. they get here without any intention to acquire any skill and they resort to doing menial jobs/life of crime. at the same time, there are nigerians who come here with bachelor's degrees. they did their masters' degrees and added 2 or more certification courses to their skills and are earning mega-pay. i can take you to a naija joint the next time you are around to meet nigerians like you working in investment banks, top financial institutes and prime engineering outfits. none of them makes less than £70k per annum.
young nigerians like you - so it depends on the kind of people you know or move with.

I have a feeling that you have prolly been away from Nigeria for too long! Please in what world does a wooden house in the U.k trump a Solid stone house in Nigeria?! If the price of your land depreciates, then na probably somewhere like ontop water you buy land.
a cursory glance at the uk property market would give you the clues you want. how can you compare the wooden box in the uk to nigeria's 20 bedroom mansion with no water(na borehole), the 20-bedroom marbled house has no 24/7 power supply too. the land-phones rarely work. don't even get me started with pest invasion(mosquitoes, roaches and rats). there's no point in staying in those big mansions if the basic things a house should have are lacking. this is why a 1-bedroom flat in the uk costs more than your 20-bedroom mansion in okija.

And on the issue of security, my dear, no where safe pass! If armed robber no shoot you kill for Naija, serial killers and street gangs fit kill you for Jand and yankee. If teacher no use cane flog your pikin die for Naija, one kolo pikin fit carry gun enetr school shoot one full school kill for Yankee.
what are the odds?
this is where nigerians don't get it. we get to hear of these homicides in the west because they have effective media who covers almost all the crimes. in nigeria, we hear nothing and yet people die in their hundreds everyday. if the media in nigeria is one-third as effective as the west, nigeria would be declared the top death spot in the whole universe. i am sure the death rate in nigeria is worse than those countries in the middle east.

If Boko Haram bomd no knack you for Naija, you can be kill in a london subway or bus, or be inside the world trade center when a psycho decides to strike. No place in the world is immune to threats. I still remember Rome in 2006 when I went for christmas. A man was thrown out of a 3 story building apartment that was next to my Hotel. All you can do is hope that it dosent get to you. You are just in as much risk in the U.K as I am in Nigeria. We just have different enemies with similar goals. You digg!!
you lie!
i am not in the same risk in the u-k as you. the united nations don't even agree with you on that count. i will put your age to around 30. with all things being considered, you have just 17 yrs to live. if you live above 47 in nigeria, it's a miracle. besides, the quality of life is much different.
debarring sudden death, i will outlive you by at least 30 more years. the water you drink is not pure, the air you breathe is contaminated. pollution(sound, air), etc. don't get me started about infections and diseases and the epileptic health system where they make you pay to get half-decent treatments.

2.5 million would only be enough for a down payment on a condo! in prolly downtown area of your city sef. And while you are still paying off the mortgage on that condo, I would have finished my house  (which would be to my taste and on a bigger piece of land as against the limited square-meters you have, in a good area of Nigeria) while I would have even started saving towards a new one.
but i have only spent 2.5 million while you have paid 30 million in one swoop. think about it. i have 27.5 million left as balance spread over many months. i am rich and you are broke. i am buying a house in an economy where houses mostly appreciate. you are buying yours where another civil war or a big road project by the corrupt government can claim your house. yes - people have lost houses because town planning decided to do a double carriage way after people have built their houses.

Do you know how many people lost their homes in the United states and the whole of Europe during the economic crisis? When people got laid off and couldnt finance their mortgages?! When interest rates on loans were flying up and people had to take out a second mortgage on the same house? When cars were being repossesed? My dear dont even go there. A land that my dad bought for not up to 300,000 Naira in 1992 is what we sold in 2006 for 45 million so what do you mean your land would depreciate in Nigeria?
people lose their homes in nigeria too. if not by mortgage, there are other factors.
the land your dad bought with 300,000 in 92 would have brought more returns if he had invested that money in the uk for 14 years. the exchange rate in 1992 was less than 80 naira. now it's up to 280 naira.

We could sit here and debate the pros and cons of Nigera vs. Diaspora and make no head way! Overseas works for you and I'm glad, Nigeria is my Diamond mine and I'm enjoying the good life here!  wink
i don't disagree with you that nigeria is now your goldmine but stop denigrating people who have decided to stay abroad whilst praising your goldmine nigeria. just stick to praising nigeria. you can hype nigeria without dehyping the developed countries. after all, one man's meat is another man's leather sandals.
How many people do any of you know Abroad (UK & U.S) that own houses that they have fully paid up the mortgage on the houses?! How moany of you know Nigerians in Diaspora that own brand new vehicles that do not have a payment plan/mortgage on it?! How many of you here know people abroad that work and still have a second job just to meet up with his/her financial needs?!
this is because the houses abroad hold more value than the ones in nigeria. the people on mortgage would have paid for houses worth more than 100 million naira in the next 25 yrs while your house of 30 million retains the same value or even drop in price in nigeria. can you then compare the two? the people on mortgage pay small amounts every month like rent but after a certain period of time, it becomes their houses.

all the nigerians in the uk i know of don't buy cars on payment plans. what sense is behind such? cars don't ever appreciate. if you buy a car now and drive it out of the carshop and return it back after 5 mins that you don't want it again. the car is now 2nd hand and at least £1000 must be deducted from money you paid 5 mins ago.

Security?! No be for U.K wey riots just happen?! Is it not in the U.K that street gangs still go around shanking kids?! How many of you here have gone into a greyhound station in the U.S and Canada and seen the pictures of missing babies and teenagers that have not been found, seen or heard from for over 5 to 16 years?! let us not get ahead of ourselves and act like being abroad is all roses and cotton balls when it comes to security because everywhere has got its own challenges.
so how many people died in the u-k riots? compared to the way police, robbers and crazy people kill at will in nigeria. what is the death rate of the motorways in nigeria compared to the uk? what's the life expectancy in nigeria compared to the uk/usa. because you have been lucky to be alive, you now think it's pretty much given and you can bounce as you please. you make me laugh. you don't value life and you don't know the value of security. the peace that comes with going home and knowing you will sleep in absolute tranquility without the menace of hoodlums or even mosquito.

Comfort is what you make it. I didnt grow up with 24/hrs light and generator, but after I travelled and returned and heard about inverters, voila! I have 24 hours light in my house. With 20 - 30 million Naira here in Nigeria, I can buy a land (fully owned not on a mortgage), build my house and own it. In the end, its all about what you want!! I have laid down my game plan, and I think that it is the winning formula.
you don't even need up to that 20-30 million naira to get a house here. as little as 2.5 million naira is enough for down payments here. then you can then invest the 27 million naira in a business in nigeria. hell, if you are scared of going into business where your money might be lost. put the 27 million in a fixed deposit in a solid bank. the interest you get from that pretty much pays your mortgage every month, and you are coasting!

that cash-driven economy has screwed up the brains of the average nigerian. this is why the politicians steal at will.

Why Do Ladies Shy Away From Politics & Political Discussions?

I noticed very few females actually participate in political discussions. We can count those of them who are active in this section on our fingertips. Why?

- Is it for lack of interest or should their interest be more on looking after their kitchen, kids and family?
- Are they afraid of taking up men in political debates?
- How are we going to have many women taking up political/leadership positions if many of them shy away from politics and political discussions?
- Or is it just enough that they be given a percentage of political appointments?
- And how can we encourage many females to participate in politics/political discussion?

Let's discuss this.
large percentage of women don't have interests in politics especially nigerian politics.
they are more comfortable with romance/relationships + food + fashion.
let the men handle the politics. bring home the bacon and the women convert it to food. tongue

dayokanu:
http://worldsoccer.about.com/od/skillsandtactics/a/4-4-2.htm
so how has this proven the number 8 sits behind number 9?

you have only rehashed the things i have mentioned earlier in a 4-4-2.

It is common in this system to have one striker playing high up the field capable of holding the ball up and laying it off to his partner. This player furthest up the field is often a big target man, with the physical strength to hold off defenders and bring his teammates into play.

But the front two does not have to comprise a big man and another striker running off him. Often teams choose to deploy a withdrawn striker, capable of playing in the 'hole' (the area behind the main striker) and using his creative skills to set up those around him, primarily his strike partner. Former Netherlands international Dennis Bergkamp was a prime example of this type of player.
and this is no hard and fast rule. as you can see, the writer said it is common. it is not absolute.
i have seen 4-4-2s where the 2 strikers worked together in tandem. there's no big target man or small target man.
the all conquering united team of 1999 had no big man, man in the hole. andy cole and dwight yorke were both target men. same as rooney/tevez in 2008 moscow.

I have a burning question, Has anyone dumped someone only to realize that it was a mistake. I ended a relationship about 6 months ago, and after three months, I started to miss my ex. At first i felt like the ex wanted out, so trying to protect myself, i did the dumping. It wasn't so hard, cause i felt I came out unscathed, but after a few months, I realized that i was wrong. I was not going through that guilt period, that many go through in a break up, I really did some bad stuff. Pushing the ex away. We havent talked much, but I received an email today saying that I am loved, however, things are over. But I dont want it to be over.

I went to this guys house which he was not there. he call me on phone and ask me to give one of the boys at home my phone to speech to him, which i did and he ask me to wait for him that he is on his way coming home that i should not go. i waited and he came around, when he came he ask one of his boys to dress his room for him after dressing his room he ask me to come to his room i told him no, that am ok in this siting room. this man stood up with annoyance on his face he brought out his handset to throw it on. he said i should not make him to beat me if not nobody will hear my voice that he is the only person living in this flats. i dont knw wat to do, i was crying like a child, i beg this man he refuse and told me he must ve sex with me. i told him why all this, ve i done bad to come to your house. see what hunger and poverty have reduced the average nigerian woman to?

you met a stranger in mr. biggs and you gave her your number and you went to his house without being forced and you have the gall to come here and say you were nearly assaulted. whose fault if i may ask?

nigerian girls have this village mentality of giving out their numbers to strangers at will. i don't know if it's because they think it's impressive they own a mobile phone. it just sickens me when they do it. western women would go on for weeks before releasing their numbers. they at least find out the kind of man they are dealing with first.

you are so lucky you didn't end up with a man in otokoto business. it would have been your head and labia in a herbalist's calabash oozing out pounds sterling. longthroat nearly sent you to heaven. you probably felt going to his place would guarantee you lunch, dinner and takeaway.

I am wiser now!! Here's my game plan! I am gonna become a Canadian by the middle of Next year, I intend to up my CV with as much certifications as possible and start working here in Nigeria as an expartraite and start earning in dollars. I never hesitate to tell anyone who cares to listen that you can survive abroad, but you can hardly become rich, but here in Naija, you can become so rich and afford to go abroad and live well. I now have greater respect for Nigeria. Bad as it is.
is there a price on the security of one's life?

Pay me a million naira every month,I will still prefer doing menial job in the west, where my life is secured, Nobody is breaking my door in the mid of the night
okija-juju, can you read this?

as you can see, it depends on what works for most people.
some people would rather make 100k naira per month equivalent abroad when they know that money is very safe with no armed robbers threatening the neighbourhood to the 1 million naira per month you make in nigeria but with one eye closed when sleeping.
life versus more money. most people would choose life. grin if not many of us would be in iraq by now.

Average/mediocre players in the La Liga have now turned to demi gods in the EPL. Simple.
yes - like arteta did in everton. grin
pepe reina in liverpool? arbeola in liverpool? aurelio in liverpool? riera in liverpool?
even xabi alonso was hit n miss when he was here.

I mean how many people knew Adam Johnson before Man City?
how many people knew hernandez before man utd?

What has improved about Milner? if thats what you call improvement then I am sorry for English football
so you don't think milner plays better now for man city than he was doing in aston villa?
you need to fix your cataract.

UEFA cup? For the player of Ronaldos status is all he can say in EUrope? Same tournament won by Schalke 04 nameless players?
he got injury struck at the peak of his career.
he lost 3-4 yrs of his career to injury. so he can be excused but he still won in the continent.
mario gomez is not injury hit - what has he ever won in the continent? answers on a postcard, please.

Why do you have to hit people below the belt, We are talking about people you mentioned Arsenal fans. mmsscchhheewww
not funny!

They were not out and out strikers and goals cant be used to measure them rather its their creativity
so why did you measure berbatov's ability with goals rather than his creativity?

dayokanu:
8 play in Central midfield? Its no use discussing football with you. bring any team that played 442.
in the central midfield, dayokanu.

You mean Teddy Sherigham played beside paul ince?, You mean for Man Utd in 1999, Andy Cole played beside Roy Keane?
sheringham is a 10. he played beside alan shearer. go and watch euro 96. their shirt numbers then matched their positions mostly.
andy cole and dwight yorke were the strike partners. roy keane and scholes interchanged the 4 and 8. taking turns to defend and attack.
gerrard and lampard interchanged 4 and 8 too. one does the anchor, one drifts forward to support the attack.

dayokanu, you be proper olodo. grin so if 8 plays behind 9, where does number 10 play? in the defence? grin grin grin grin
i should draw this graphically so you have a grasp of football formation.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/8d/Formation_evolution.jpg

do you see where 4 and 8 are? can you see 10 behind 9?
dayo the german guffanti. grin cheesy
the day you take me to the cleaners in football, i would eat my own testicles. grin

What was Schilacci? 8 or 9? Simple its meaningless aruing who was sub or not. Baggio was a 8 So what role did Salvatore Schilacci play?
baggio was a 10, schillaci was a 9.
but before schillaci got a regular shirt, it was vialli playing as a 9 and baggio outshone him.

What happened to a useless striker? Same thing thats happening to Torres .
he will soon shut you up!
mario gomez shut you up last season, same as dimitar berbatov.

dayokanu:
You are threading on unfamiliar territory and dont let me take you to the cleaners
take me to the cleaners? have you ever done that since the planet was created.

Berbatov has always been a top 9 and he is a top 9. He played ahead of Franca in Leverkusen, He led Spurs line and played ahead of Keane He also led manure lines and his space has been taken by Chicharito now .
he never played a top 9 for man utd until last season when rooney had his "issues". berbatov won the golden boot that season!
berbatov didn't run faster or took drugs. it was the same berbatov but playing closer to the goal than he ever did for ferguson.
he became a flop in your eyes after joining man utd. not before - so forget what he's done in previous clubs and concentrate on his man utd career.

Guffanti. Schilacci was the top striker for Italy in 1990 and he scored 6 goals Baggio only managed 2
you are a disgrace! a big fat disgrace for a football acolyte.
vialli was the top striker. it was after vialli flopped that schillacci became the cinderella of the italian team.
go back to wikipedia and read again. schillaci was a substitute in the group games.

Thats because van persie was useless at that time and for most of his career
so what happened to him?

In football a top 9 scores more goals than the 8 behind him.
guffantiesque. it's not number 8 behind 9, it's number 10.
olodo 20 kobo. grin

Research well and avoid goofs this time around cos I wont be merciful
10 plays behind a 9 in a 4-4-2 abi your brain don blow it's gasket?
it's 4 and 8 in the central midfield. 2-3-5-6 in the defence.
7 and 11 on the wings. 9 and 10 top striking.

you nor sabi nada.

Maradona was the best player ever and he would always dwarf anyone played beside him the same way Messi outscores all other strikers in his team
so why is torres goal scoring prowess such an issue with you?
Erm Bros!!

For the sake of me wanting to maintain my annonymity, I will not put my complimentary card on here but I'll provide you with some details!

I work for Total Nigeria Limited (an oil Company) as a contract Staff. I will tell you my job description as well, but that would make me easy to identify. I started working in March this year. And 500,000'k is just an estimate o! My Contract sum is for 35'k per day, multiplied by 22 working days per month, do the maths!! Now my contractor takes 20% of that, so on and so. . . I was lucky no doubt, but even then, life here was much more easier for me than it was in Canada. I was making money that was just enough for me to survive and keep my head above water without making any reasonable savings! Now thats bullshi't. I know alot of families who look like they are livinglarge in the U.S, U.K and co but if you look closely, you'll see that their houses, cars and virtually everything  they have are all on a mortgage.

A H1 visa in the United States of America is the next best thing to winning a green Card. I have a 4 year, multiple entry, H1 Visa (which is a full working Visa) and my Permanent residence in Canada means that by the middle of next year, I'll be eligible to get my Canadian Passport (so yes sir, I can work legally in the whole of North America!). The point I was making was this, It is not easy anywhere jor! I saw men with Masters degrees woking for 16 dollars an hour at Mac donalds and KFC. I still remember that as at October last year, I was begging for a job with a security company in Canada and they were jerking me around. I was a laborer working as a cleaner in construction sites by day and applying to Superstores and what have you by night. I still remember meeting a Nigerian Man in Toronto who was a doctor and had to work two jobs to keep his head above ground.

O And lest I forget, I am a Geological Engineer o!! So you know. Alot of people abroad are suffering! Lets not even front! And to make it worse, I remember that I once got a call from SGS in Canada for an interview and they told me that because I studied in Ghana, I needed to do some courses in Canada to enable me work as a geologist there because I wasnt thought the behaivior of minerals and materials in snow!! I almost went mad!

Look! To all you who are doing menial jobs abroad just to get by, your hussle would pay more in Naija! Less taxes and you can feed for less money as well.
okija-juju, why didn't you add to your skills whilst in canada?
if i know anyone with a bachelors degree working as a cleaner, i would slap him in the face - that is so wrong.

the knowledge base is already there. what's left is to combine that degree with a recognised certification and you would be balling.
if you have added ordinary project management certification or acca to your degree, you wouldn't be cleaning toilet bowls for oyibo people.
don't travel abroad thinking a ghanaian or nigerian certificate would get you somewhere - they don't recognise those. increase the skills and you are guaranteed a good job. contract jobs too paying as much as £300-£600 per day.

dayokanu:
That must mean it would be easier to be better players in smaller clubs than in bigger clubs innit? grin grin
the most important thing is playing in a club of world class players and getting many games under one's belt.
mata, aguero and silva would be anonymous playing for west ham or everton

What about them? I dont even know Adam Johnson before Man City.
you are not a big fan of epl so i am not surprised.

Joe Hart has always been good maybe improved, Millner, Barry what about those?
Really? Did he win all these in European club football?
joe hart has improved massively.
milner has improved compared to the rubbish he was in aston villa.
barry is too old to be reckoned with. we are talking about young players with loads of time ahead of them to improve.
ronaldo won uefa cup, didn't he?

How does what Mesi won for Argentina concern a Barcelona fan?
ask arsenal fans how they celebrated when cesc won euro 2008/world cup 2010.

How many goals did the above score for their clubs?.
they didn't have to.
football isn't only about goals otherwise dennis bergkamp won't be a legend. same as eric cantona.
