As for not needing him now,  arguments can be made that he does - Bendtner was played on the wings last season, Arshavin seems to be on his last legs, leaving only Walcott and maybe Gervinho as our first choice wing players. We need Ox now so he can learn from all these cats and improve such that when he's called to be first choice, he's had the necessary development.

A player's value is determined by the interest in him and the length of his outstanding contract. With a mere year left on Cahill's contract, he is definitely NOT worth £18m. I would value him at £12m at best and that is even generous, considering that ONLY Arsenal have put in a bid.

Wenger is well prepared for the 6+5 rule with Jenkinson, Ramsey, Wilshere, Walcott, Gibbs, Chamberlain among others.

if he has a year on his contract, and he's not more than 25, his value is £12-15 million depending on who's buying.
