debosky:
What continues to worry me is the lack of clarity on where the seeming reluctance to spend emanates from:
1. Is it from the board refusing to spend money/ providing a limited budget to Arsene?
the board has reiterated time and time again there's money but wenger has refused to spend it. . . . .spending it will bring huge criticisms like city are currently facing. . . . it's better not to spend and fail than spend and fail.

2. Is it simply Arsene 'refusing' to spend as is commonly projected? Is the board allowing him a 'long rope' to hang himself with?
arsene has refused to spend cos the criticisms are quickly excused that rivals clubs outspend arsenal every season. arsene not spending also means more money for the board to share.

3. Is it some form of joint decision not to spend due to a lack of resources beyond the claimed paper profits?
this is related to ma comments 1 and 2.

My worry is that we may never know the truth till Arsene leaves and if it is the third option case, we will be in potentially bigger trouble than we are at the moment. I'd be lying if I said that the uncertainty surrounding the club was not worrying, but I do want to wait a bit longer before passing judgement on the summer.
i'd be worried if i am a supporter of arsenal with all these uncertainties hanging over the club. and these devious men in suit canvass the fans to spread more cheese on season tickets. they promise heaven and earth in the preseason and then fail to deliver when the window opens. it's a shame on wenger. since roman abramovic got his machine spinning on track, arsenal just bottled it and failed to rise to the challenge of the russian.

What we can say clearly is that we have, thus far, showed far less intent to strengthen the side, especially compared to the Manchester clubs and Liverpool. If we are virtually standing still or going backwards compared to the main rivals, it is not beyond reason to be concerned about our fate for the new season.
did you see the poll on skysports today?
in a poll of 80,000, only 5% think arsenal can win the league. 5%.
7 years ago, arsenal will cop 50-60% of the votes. it just shows you how low arsenal have sunk.

But the Guardian newspaper reported that the bullet in the radio was police-issue, indicating Duggan may not have fired at the officer."

Anywhere in the police are same sh$t.
his mates kept insisting he couldn't have fired at the pigs. duggan was a family man. . . . .granted, he had a piece on him but he had surrendered before he was shot twice. that is gross abuse of power by the police and they deserve everything they get in the coming days.

If your gun is registered you can use 'reasonable force' to defend yourself and property.

If the gun is illegal dont use it - unless your just firing warning shots.

instead grab a knife but again remember you can only use reasonable force.
the gun is registered - a 12-guage shotgun
it's quicker, less messier.

reasonable force. . . .shooting someone on the kneecap is reasonable, innit?

@coogar,
Tevez's first season was magical.I still insist you strike his name off the list.He lost is place to Berbatov signing for us,simple.
why should he lose his place to berbatov? why didn't rooney lose his place to berba?

Obertan better than Giggs? As terrible as Giggsy has been,Obertan can only be as good as Giggs was when he is jer.king off.
as a winger, obertan is better than giggs, abeg.
giggs excel when he plays in the midfield.

As per Cleverley, see what being consistent does for someone. . .Obertan had one good youth mini-tournament in 2009,and he feels he's already arrived. . .heard the fella asked to leave United in January. . .let him carry his yam head to Newcastle jor. . .
in 10 months time, the tune will change
i expect obertan to match odemwingie's performance last season

http://enjoyourholiday.com/2011/04/18/top-10-most-visited-cities-in-the-world/
FAIL[/quote]the last time i checked in 2006, london was the most visited with paris coming a distant second. . . . . .but then these things are not static and it's a shame that a country you branded as shyte ranks higher than dubai, new york, shanghai and other top cities. it must mean these visitors must love shyt.

London is already probably the most unpleasant, badly-run capital in Europe. The only things that appear to work there are its red traffic lights, it's high taxes and fines system and the sweat-glands in strangers’ armpits in the Underground.
i love it that way. . . . . .i love the unpleasantness of it. . . . .
and to say london is the most badly-run capital in europe is a shame on your education.
london is world's most economically powerful city. . . . .ranks higher than new york and tokyo.

I dunno why everyone is thinking Cleverly will dispose Carrick out of the team . . . for starters they dont even play the same positions.
Carrick is our only disciplined DM . . . Cleverly is a an AM. If anything Cleverly will fight it out with Anderson.
until we get a midfielder like makelele, mikel obi, tiote, song - carrick's starting place is safe. he is our only disciplined defensive midfielder like you rightly pointed. his role is to protect the back four and get stuck in.  cleverley will fight it out with sneijder/giggs/etc or whoever plays the attacking midfielder role.

Totally concur. Honestly, I was one of those concerned about whether Cleverley wasn't simply a Gibson/Possebon in waiting. But so far through pre-season and today he looks very ready with lots of room for improvement. If Carrick doesn't pull his finger out this season and start playing like d world class midfielder he is, it won't belong before he ends up like O'shea. Anderson looks very determined, I won't be shocked if SAF has told him its make or break time for him this season.
why blame carrick? he is still nursing an injury on his achilles tendon. he shouldn't have played and he looks a bit leggy(lack of games in the pre-season). carrick is our best midfielder until we sign sneijder. cleverley came in fresh - full of verve and energy. cleverley's fine display shouldn't roll criticisms on carrick. . . . .
