JigsawKillah: Upload your pix Ogawhy would i laugh at you if i am not more handsome than you? ![]() |
Stillfire:so you agree with me then that nigerian parents are the leading cause of unmarried wonen in nigeria? |
kaboninc:imo state & many parts in nigeria. laptops & blackberry phones are now parts of the things expected by the bride's family. ![]() |
Stillfire:nah.... let them continue to stay in the kitchen. a woman that cannot cook is not eligible for marriage. all her masters degree & ph.d mean squat to me. Jman06:her money is obviously her selling point. if she is teaching arithmetic in a primary school, her chances of getting married would have been halved. in a nutshell, an older lady with loads of cash still have hope. an older lady with no cash should just become a nun. ![]() |
Stillfire:this is another strong point! however, there are situations when these women are ready to fund all the expenses and yet no man wants to marry them. many of the women the OP cited are working professionals. why should the income of the suitor matter if it's all down to economy? |
Stillfire:many of them don't even know how to reply when you say hi to them. some just smile & cover their blushing face or make faces like a buffalo just farted in their nostrils. ![]() nigerian men are better-trained as far as social skills are concerned. they tend to go out more at their early stage of development while the female counterpart is still learning how to make every type of soup in the kitchen. ![]() innervoice:by whose standard? are the same men not marrying easily outside nigeria? abeg, nigerian parents are the problem. even when the girl manages to bring a classy suitor home, they would still disapprove because they don't like his tribe or religion. you really have no clue concerning the topic... kaboninc:the economy was better then. the unemployment rate was very low. a high school graduate can work as a bank clerk in their era. these days, masters degree holders are driving keke napep. when will he save enough to marry a girl whose bride price alone is N1m? ![]() |
Stillfire: Nigerian women you need to stand up to your parents. I have already re-trained my parents ages ago.nigerian parents feel entitled and you cannot really blame them. i mean......what do you expect? they train the kids, house them, feed them, clothe them. an unmarried nigerian woman is highly likely to be staying with her parents.....why won't the parents feel like demi-gods? |
Stillfire: There are more men than women in Nigeria. There would be more men in Nigeria not married than women unless you want to claim some dodgy statistics now. I guess focusing on women is more catchy when we talk about marriage cheesy. The economy is not viable enough for marriage so more Nigerian men than women are not getting married either.the difference is nigerian males are breaking ranks and marrying across the racial lines. even when they cannot find foreign young women, caucasian grannies fly across the atlantic ocean to marry them. there are more unmarried eligible single women in nigeria than their male counterparts. just attend any of the pentecostal churches in lagos......and see for yourself. |

innervoice:i said these parents have sons who are irresponsible. sons wouldn't qualify as one black sheep. pay attention to the details... A woman does not need to be tall. I know plenty of tall men who have short girlfriends. Height is a male issue, not a female.so a midget can demand to marry a tall man? do you know the meaning of a midget or are you just trolling? Haven't you just said eligible men are only to be found one in a million? You have answered your question yourself. I didn't know eligible equals very rich.according to the standards set by nigerian parents. eligibility wouldn't be such an issue if the standard applied by nigerian parents is the same as in other climes. in my neck of the woods, teenagers get married. it's not about what the dude has or doesn't have. as long as they love each other, both families are ready to proceed with the marriage rites. First it was about his profession and now it's about his bank account. What are we talking about now?is profession not tied to bank account in nigeria or what are you trying to say? |
innervoice:i strongly disagree.... if the sons are irresponsible, there's nothing to say the daughters wouldn't be far worse than the sons? how did the parents manage to train their daughters but then neglected the sons? highly unlikely. this is like a female midget demanding a tall suitor. it is no longer her rights to demand such. she should just accept whatever life throws at her......she should never set any standard, that would be tantamount to hypocrisy. If that is true, then the problem is with men and nobody else. You have just painted a bleak picture of the male gender and perfectly justified why a woman may not choose to get married at all.how's the problem with men? it's the women that should lower their standards to a reasonable range. where do you expect a 25-30 year old nigerian guy to find money to buy a car, get a house, and then fund a multi-million naira wedding? the boy just probably graduated from a uni. he's just starting his life & some greedy parents are demanding things their own older sons have not achieved. hypergamy is fairly universal but nigerians take theirs to an astronomical level. freecocoa:this is neither here nor there. the population is 160 million. at least 20 million women are single & eligible. if 10,000 women marry in every state per month, that's just 370,000 per month or 4 million per year. that's just 20% ![]() |
raumdeuter:that's standard, abeg! at 19-21, every girl sets a high standard because she's still in her prime then. the higher the demand, the more value the commodity would hold. as she grows older, the commodity generally drops in value. by the age of 30, 90% of the criteria would have been removed....at this point, it doesn't matter if the suitor smokes or drinks......as long as he's ready to marry. however, the girls in the article managed to take the second/third choice suitors home only for the parents to disapprove. some of them continued to take the suitors home after graduation/working(late 20s/early 30s). there's an element of truth in their comments. |
SailorXY:de jong? ![]() he's a waste of space. who would have de jong in his team? even in his prime, he was as awkward as a bumbling oaf. abeg, no more phil jones type of player in our squad. |
innervoice:how can the parents of irresponsible sons desire responsible sons-in-law? shouldn't they just accept the fate their hands deal to them? if it's that easy to find responsible men, why didn't they raise one? truth is - eligible men are 1 in a million. every woman wants him. he's a hot commodity. so the chances of him settling with a girl is 1/number of the women who desire him. good luck to you & your daughter. |
raumdeuter:read the article very well..... they all took their suitors to their parents & they were all rejected. this is not uncommon in nigeria, abeg. parents setting high standards. is he a doctor, engineer or a lawyer is the most common question.... meanwhile, these parents have sons who are grossly irresponsible sitting at home doing nothing o.........but they want the daughters to pick a top man who works for an oil company, owns a flat in lekki & drives a bugatti. freecocoa:that statistic is even conservative in my own opinion. it should be only 2 in 10 eligible nigerian women are married. do you really think all those beret-wearing ladies in the church don't desire marriage? ![]() |
ELYMAXiimus:why do you want to see my pix? upload yours first. gottoboy:o'boy........see face! ![]() with this kinda face, you don't need a gun or a knife to rob. the face itself na arm. ![]() |
freecocoa:how's the article bullshyte? kindly explain......is it not true that nigerian parents set high standards for the suitors of their daughters? |
freecocoa:why are you hissing? at least we now know why some of una are still single......and then come on NL to claim imaginary husbands. ![]() aflyingbird:nigerian parents take the blame 100% the method some of them use to train their daughters is highly flawed. this is why the majority of nigerian women are socially awkward. many of them were trained to flee from men & face their studies. some of them @21 still believe they can get pregnant by letting a man touch their arms. that was how most of them were taught by their parents. then all of a sudden, the same parents who didn't want their daughters to smile at any guy would start pressuring the girls to find a husband overnight. nigerian parents need a huge dose of deliverance. |
AdeLaNa1:hardline is very ok. i am currently on episode 9. it's boring at the start though cos all he's got is an annoying pistol but as you move up, the ammo gets better. |
journalism in nigeria has gone to the dogs. she will only serve 14 years as her sentence runs concurrently. it's only if the sentence runs consecutively that she will be serving 266 years. even for stealing only N8m, the 14-year sentence was too harsh. she didn't commit a violent crime, she just stole money from her employer. at worst, she should be getting a community service. her lawyers must be very stupïd! |
Dhellake:gary neville is the best pundit in europe.... even fans of rival clubs respect his views & opinions. he usually goes against the general public & he provides insights to things people seldom ignore during matches. henry is just shyte, no original idea. he just talks in phrases with his heavy french accent. i couldn't believe my ears when i heard sky pays him £5m per year to talk that kinda crap on TV. carragher's scouse accent hinders him. i hate the way he sucks air when he talks. he has improved a lot though cos his speech is now clearer than when he was still playing for liverpool. graeme sounness is the 2nd best on sky. he's old but he tells it as he sees it. jamie redknapp talks crap too. he's heavily biased towards liverpool & spurs(when his dad was managing the club). |
TreQuartista:you saw the interplay before the final kill, didn't you? Leyqute:nothing truthful about this ish. man utd players & the paid a curtesy visit to a local hospital......they do this all the time to put smiles on the faces of critically-ill united fans. one of the fans met LVG & gave him a piece of paper containing the players LVG should buy. LVG took the paper & they both joked over the list. there's no fact that any of the names on that list would make it to OT next season. |
moonraker:i have been searching for IF lewandowski for a week now. |
chicharito settles the madrid derby.... what a goal! |
SailorXY:i would have nani over depay |
SailorXY:hummels gundogan lacazette |
SIRcumalot:spurs finished below the 4th position when bale won it. he's been the breakout star of the season. i can also make a very sound argument for de gea. without him, we would be in 12th position. only de gea would win MOTM even when his team won 3-0 on the day. goalies get ignored a lot. |
haha man utd's IF streak ended sadly. ![]() |
SIRcumalot:harry kane! |
elampiro:you don't really know what you are saying.. if stats isn't favouring you as a forward player despite having awoof penalty kicks to pad up the stats then you are not really good as a player, you are overhyped. did you watch tonight's game? did you see how goetze, muller, etc tore porto apart? how many times do you see the media blowing bubbles in the arsës of those german players like they do overrated schmuks like hazard? My point is. What I see in matches tells me Hazard is better than Silva. He is the best player in the EPL. But people use stats & to put him down. Chances created don't support him. Assists don't support him.there's never been a season hazard has been better than silva including the current one. silva scores more & creates more! hazard just runs & runs - he is a highlight player. pretending to do something while he does nothing productive. yet, you have players like silva who pulls the strings & just makes everyone else better on the pitch. nobody would really notice what muller does on the pitch too cos he's not fanciful but he is absolutely world class. A similar thing happened when I used to be the only one speaking for Robben in 2013. Not all players are so direct to pack stats. This is happening to Ashley Young this season. Di Maria in the opposite.if you are a forward player.....you don't score enough goals, you don't assist enough, you don't create enough. so what the fück are you doing in the team? Young's presence in the team has been more beneficial to the team than Di Maria's. But Di Maria's stats portray him as being more productive than Young and Mata. This is how stat can be misleading in players comparison.young & mata understand the need to keep the ball. it's not every time a player is in possession of the ball that he has to take unnecessary risks and put his team in danger. di maria was the reason liverpool got their mojo back at anfield. he was too eager to impress when all he had to do was sit back, let liverpool make mistakes and then counter. We had an argument earlier in the season where Silva and Fabregas were being promoted over Hazard by many here. These people were holding on to chances created and Assist stats.so if hazard isn't better than cesc & silva in creative stats, what makes him better then? number of dribbles? ronaldo isn't better than rooney then according to your logic cos stats shouldn't matter. ![]() At the end, Mourinho came out to crown Hazard as not only the best in Chelsea but the best in the EPL. The shorlist of players for PFA player of the year is out and Hazard is there, the only guy in the list from last season. Fabregas and Silva are missing.hazard is a poster boy..... he's loved by the media - he's the face of chelsea just like lampard & gerrard used to be on this island way back. what mourinho says is irrelevant. without fabregas, chelsea would be 3rd on the table. it is when he arrived that the chelsea team finally gelled & looked like champions. hazard wasn't even the best player @ chelsea when mata was there. ![]() For the third year, Professional footballers and whoscored put Hazard over Silva. Whoscored has rated Hazard as the best in EPL for about 7 months running now.whoscored also rated jones as one of the best ers @ man utd. he's not even the best defender in the club. whoscored is a shyte site when it comes to accurate stats.Yet, I was made to look like I didnt know what I was saying when I argued about Hazard. They said Hazard just dribble aimlessly around the field. Professional footballers have spoken again, and again, and again.it's a popularity contest.... professional players voted giggs in 2009 when it was clear vidic was the best defender in europe. This is my last argument on this thread for a long time to come. Going forward, I will just state my opinion and leave.you don't actually have an argument! your opinion is coloured with bias. hazard is a baby compared to the spaniards(cesc & silva). the stats don't lie. cesc's contribution is the reason chelsea would be champions this season. www.nairaland.com/attachments/2334610_image_jpeg9f360c5ab7736510df54c882e9dbf188 the image above says it all. all hail king cesc! ![]() |
elampiro:young understands the philosophy better than di maria. di maria copped us possession loss against liverpool & city when he came on. it's not always the best players that make LVG's team. rafael is heads & shoulders better than valencia @RB but rafael takes too many risks. someone like fergie would have rafael there but LVG is obsessed with possession & valencia guarantees that even though it means he would pass back while attacking. |
