I repeat a father took his child,Nigeria can't help you arrest a father for asking his mother to go get his child
a father stole his child. did the child's mother give any consent before the child was taken?

this was her tweet about an hour ago....

@OfficialTemmy: Things r moving along now. The authorites are on my side. I cant say much but by God's grace i ll get her back. Thank u all so much! I❤️u all

Well Nigerian can't help you, whenever grandma enters uk again, then uk law can take its course
they don't have to wait for her to come back. a minor was taken in the UK, that child automatically becomes their priority. grandma would soon be in a stainless handcuff.

I want to see some naija mansions as well, since Onila said the family is well educated. And a lot of twists. grin
you are right on the money!
hopefully, the pictures would include onila. dailymail would dig everything out. i am sure there's more to this international child abducting grandma. grin

Don't believe everything you read on Nairaland. One guy once claimed he was studying medicine in one of the Ivy League uni in the US. See people respecting and saluting him on every thread he visited only for us to find out that the school he claimed to be a student of, was not offering medicine as a course. I think it's Princeton...can't remember now. grin

Coogar help me out here, who is that guy sef? cheesy
i cannot remember this story.....when was this?

how they traced her husband to nigeria & how they found out she sold mary kay products? this one would be bigger.

after all that hope you feel better now,as for crime,is society that determines what amounts to a crime, and this is arrived at by the thinking of such society, like i said before probably in the uk a crime may have been committed but for Nigeria,no crime has been committed, and you can't force us to see things the way you see it just because you are in uk
she has to answer for the crime she committed. whether it's a crime in nigeria is a moot point. no one is asking nigerian courts to sentence her, we are saying grandma should be brought back to the UK to answer for the crime she committed.

Thank God you said in britain, for now, that child is in Nigeria so is the father, and contrary to what you dream of,Nigerian government officials would not assist the british in anyway on this matter, first the british have to prove that the child in question is there citizen, once they cannot establish that then no assistance, second the mother of the child isn't a british citizen either,so you do the maths
where was the crime committed?
go on youtube & check the number of times criminals like this grandma have been arrested in nigeria on camera.....

nigerian police are not loyal to you, they are only loyal to their bellies. if they get paid, they would physically take the woman to the airport & hand her over to the british authorities.

like i said the mother is a born Nigerian,as for breaking the law, first the child is not yet a british citizen in other words the baby in question is still a Nigerian,so it does not apply, secondly you can't come to Nigeria to try a Nigerian, you first have to pass though the Nigerian courts
so you are saying any child can be stolen from her mother in the UK cos that child is not yet a citizen? grin cheesy you need to go out more....even if mother & child are illegal citizens, a crime was committed by granny. illegal immigrants have rights too & the law must protect them.

as for nigerian courts, i laugh in portugese. nigeria is the easiest place to get the baby. just motivate few mobile police unit & the child would be produced. do you know the number of criminals the foreign authorities have caught in nigeria with little or no effort?

the poverty in that country means that nothing is impossible. that child would be brought back without the case going to any court. for the nigerian police, it's all about money & met police would have plenty of cash to throw around to impress their superiors here.

the daughter is a student, so its likely she came on a student visa.
around 2009 or so.
if she came in via student visa then she has to be on it for 10 years to qualify for a permanent resident. however, i don't even think her status affects the seriousness of the case. even if she's an illegal citizen, the fact still remains grandma committed a crime & met police would be investigating the matter.

the child both father and mother are born Nigerians, which definitely makes nigerian law equally relevant
how do you know the mother isn't a dual-citizen? even if she's not - the crime was committed on british soil. the grandma broke a law in britain....british law would prosecute her for that regardless of whatever is written in the nigerian constitution.

You just like to dey shoot yourself for leg sha. So u finally agree. When Rooney's wage increased to 350k we all complained so Blackett and Shaw isn't left out. Even young sef follow.
you are the one not using your head now.
no footballer is with £50k per week. they are not forced to play football - it's what they enjoy doing & it's just for about 90 mins per week......not even 2 hours job.

however, there's so much money in the game & the people that matter decided to start paying ridiculous wages. if the other players @ united have gotten their own big pay.....why should blackett be different?

if you are going to keep blackett on £2k per week then you must reduce the wages of everyone else on united's pay roll otherwise leave tyler alone - he must have impressed LVG to get that incentive anyways.

okay lets put it this way, the child can have a british birth certificate and the child can enjoy the rights and obligations that apply to a british citizen undecided
the child can have a british birth certificate but she will need a visa to travel to most places since she doesn't hold a british passport.

within the confines of britain, she enjoys all the rights & obligations that apply to citizens but that's where it ends for the child.

I have read most of the comments. I really think that Temmy has not given us all the valid info in this case. The Grandma cannot simply walk in and take the child out of UK. However, grandma should'nt have done that. I'm sure she has her reasons.
what reasons apart from the usual african practice of the family of the father bütting into what is not their concern?

Methinks that the best solution right now for Temmy is for her to pack her bags and move to PH to be with both her Daughter and Grandma. From what i've read so far, it appears that grandma is capable of taking care of both Temmy and her grandchild. Things could even work out for the best for everybody involved. It's not complulsory for the child to be raised in the UK.
not a chance - she should let interpol deal with the matter. nigeria is the easiest place to have the grandma arrested. for as little as £1,000, a family member would rat her out.

Temmy should relocate to PH. Who knows, she may form a family unit with the father, her daughter and the grandma.
relocating to PH does not guarantee she would get her child back. i don't trust that grandma an inch.

How come none of you commentators thought of this. You all are busy dishing out blames. My suggestion could be a constructive solution to the problem. Grandma and son obviously love the girl. Temmy should join them in PH, Nigeria. Chikena..
grandma is a criminal & she should be treated as one. the only constructive solution is to get grandma arrested. 3 days in a police cell in nigeria would break her resolve.

that child needs to be brought back to britain asap!

in the US its irregardless of the status of the parent and in the UK the status of the parent is taken into account. Im assuming this child was given birth to by a woman who was legally residing in UK at that time of birth.
even if the child was born by a woman legally residing in the UK, the child does not become an automatic british citizen.....but the child can later become one.

here's the official document on international abductions:

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/265613/Int_Child_Abduction_1113_AW.pdf

if the child is a Nigerian citizen, then the case is not straightforward.

If the grandma is carribean, depending on their laws, the child could also be a carribean national.

all these need to be defined legally and no, it does not solve the issue if abduction is claimed.

the mother also has to provide the child's name, age, date of birth, passport details, nationality.
the child was taken in the UK, this is why this one is pretty straight forward. finding the name age dob, etc cannot be far-fetched. the hospital she was born would have a copy of the birth record....

Mondisweets:
this is by operation of law, you can also acquire citizenship by birth, if the mother is "legally residing in the UK at the time the child is born, that child can become a citizen. If the mother has a valid visa/permit to stay in the UK the child will qualify.
of course, the child can become a citizen but she's not a citizen at birth. that's the difference here. unlike in the US, any child birthed over there regardless of the status of the parents becomes an automatic citizen from the first breath.

Whoever gave Shaw 100k per week should be sent to Boko Haram HQ wearing priestly robes and holding an American English dictionary.
However this is just a case of 2 wrongs, elevating a home grown boy from 2k to 50k is likely to derail the boy
and since we cannot deduct shaw's wages, it's only fair that blackett gets £50k per week. i agree blackett isn't worth that amount by any stretch but the over-pampering of young players didn't start from today - so why pick on blackett?

they fly to the US for citizenship.
they fly to the UK to take advantage of the free medical service(NHS)

Mondisweets:
or if the mother is settled in the UK
if the mother is settled in the UK but she's without a british passport, the child does not become british until the mother gets a passport or until the child becomes 7.......and the child must live in the UK throughout the entire period of that 7 years to qualify.

you can become a citizen by birth or by operation of law. Kindly update yourself on British nationality law, before u just start posting anyhow

her chosen lifestyle has nothing to do with the stolen child as long as she's not abusive to the child. the case cannot even go to court - mothers take custody of the kid in nearly all the cases unless she's a complete junkie without the capacity to take care of a child.
