The reason Rooney's assists went down was that we attacked through the wings. All our wingers were very active and super good that season. We relied on crosses for our goals. Rooney gets the ball and makes a diagonal pass to the sing and then he runs to the box area.

so if we attacked through the wings, what was rooney doing in the hole(like you suggested) or are you too daft to comprehend your written? if we relied on wing play it then means the wingers were the creators & rooney was a strike partner with one of chicha & welbeck. fergie wouldn't put rooney in the hole & let the play bypass him. he was our best player as at then.
