elampiro: You are even quoting from 2009 when you had many memebers from what I have seen. But when I got here, this thread was trailing far behind that of Chelsea. But before Moyes kicked a ball in the premier league, it has reached the same number of pages with Chelsea, even though you opened this thread before Chelsea's. See below:
i can't see anything below....
besides that, you talk a lot of nonsense to be taken seriously. there has never been a time united threads lag behind chelsea. it's the cut off point that varies & the sudden change of mind that seun had to stop cutting off threads at 100 pages. nobody posts on chelsea threads - historically, only arsenal threads have stayed above united's until their fans could no longer bear the shame of losing emirates cup.

Before Moyes lost a match, Man United thread had overtaken Chelsea.
August 18th, Chelsea page 350.
August 18th, Man United page 350.
are you factoring SAF's retirement, the hullabaloo of who should be hired, the frenzy of winning our 21st league title, the increase in the number of the united fans that must have joined that period?

Within a short time I arrived, Man United thread had double its number of pages.
I joined March 8th and it was on page 169. I got angry with Coogar's insults and left the thread on Mar 15. From when joined to when I decided to leave temporary, it was 7 days. The thread ran 10 pages that period ( page 169 to 179)
this has nothing to do with you - more like the lack of meaningful activities around united that time. no one knew who you were or what part of nigeria you came from.

April 18th I returned. I had been absent for a period of 35 days, Page ran only 9 days in my absence. (Page 179 to 188)

From April 18th to August 17th which is the day Moyes played and won his first league game, Man United thread added 170 pages and caught up with Chelsea at 350 pages. This means in 14 months without elampiro, this thread added 180 pages. The next four months with elampiro it added 170 pages.
you are a troglodyte. the following reasons were responsible for the surge:

•SAF's retirement
•SAF's supposed predecessor
•rooney's transfer request
•united's champions league exit
•united's 21st league title against all odds
•more united members joining NL

There were many pages of argument on performance between Rooney and Berba/RVP, etc. Owen Hargreaves in the UCL matches. Owen Hargeaves style vs Scholes+Carrick, within that four months period.
all these arguments had occurred even before i joined. there's nothing special about rooney/berba argument. the best debate on this thread till date was nani/valencia argument between me & starboard. it even attracted other fans like debosky, dayokanu, etc and that was when facebook was still your sanctum!

Without Moyes losing a match, the thread had caught up with Chelsea's.
Band boys don't take more than a page.
Bang boys ko bad boys ni
Moyes results ko moyes losses ni
the appointment of moyes alone turned many pages. he didn't have to lose the league to make fingers jab on the keyboard. his preseason failure was a big talking point. the fact that he was chosen ahead of several managers was a talking point. rooney's rumours departure to chelsea was another talking point!

elampiro, you have no single bearing on the number of pages that has been amassed here over the years. we can run an experiment. deactivate your account now and come back in december. let's see how many pages would amass by the time you get back.

elampiro: Dec 31 2013 we were on page 700.
This thread got to about page 1,300 before. This meant minimum average of 140 pages per month for the first 5 or 6 months this year. Except you get a previous similar stat to evidence your case, give up already.
shut up & stop lying to us.....
which 1,300 pages are you talking about?? so elampiro who no one knows outside this thread is responsible for the surge? you are starting to embarrass yourself in public. why not just say you are the reason NL has 1 million members.

edo tout feeling funky!

elampiro: 100 pages in 57days, that is small na. I guess that was your highest before I arrived, unlike when we generated 100 pages in less than month this year.
where's the proof you generated 100 pages in one month this year. what event led to such surge? how many posters were involved? how many posts did you make in those 100 pages?

look at this baba suwe claiming to be lebron james. why not go ahead and claim there was no man utd thread at all before you arrived. fact is more united fans have joined NL, strange things like finishing 7th was also a factor. it's got nothing to do with elampiro & it's variants.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 1:12pm On Aug 19, 2014
elampiro: Must everything ascribed to me be countered? Did I claim anything on my own? I didn't even think it to mean anything until someone said this thread had more pages before I joined. .... And it turned out to be a lie. Just to disprove any claims given to me.

I am not talking about quality or intelligent debate. But why do they have to lie just to discredit things awarded to me. It's not today I start hearing such comments as elampiro and coogar debates alone account for half of the pages here.

The number of pages went up astronomically as soon as I arrived.
no, it didn't
the number of pages have always been very high long before you found NL. i just showed you an example in a link in my previous post. 100 pages in less than 2 calendar months was the going rate before you came.

how can you lay claims to what you are not?

SailorXY: so what do u make of this particular signing? is it a panic-buy?
do you think if we had wallop Swansea 5-0, this guy would have been signed today?
i think so - luke shaw's injury made sure of that. yes, young could fill in every now & then in that position but it's just to help out, not to become the default.

van gaal loves to play his players where they want to play. this is why i cannot blame him for the loss on saturday. he must name a team whether we have injury problems or not.

if we had everyone fit like man city, i doubt blackett, young, lingard, etc would be playing the roles they played on saturday. i never wanted luke shaw. he's too expensive for whatever potential he's got. even if he turns out to become roberto carlos in 5 years time, £28m was too expensive!

Its getting tiring waiting to see if anyone would come in or not.
rojo has signed for us na.
he's flying in this evening to complete his medicals at bridgewater hospital.

elampiro: Mooyes losing matches had little to do with traffic here. How many pages do band boys occupy after each game? I abegi, they always must discredit anything ascribed to the so much hated elampiro. To the extent that they will ban me when I say the truth.
If I sat for one our, I should completely refute the claim that it has nothing to do with Moyes losing matches.
Moyes lost matches ko band boys ni.
so elampiro is claiming to be the reason united thread has more traffic? lololololol - you are the most hilarious human being on the planet. this thread has been buzzing long before you knew about the internet.

there have been intelligent debates. guests like ibime, dayokanu, ritchboy, debosky, etc come here to drop insightful posts every now and then to drive traffic.....

this is a classic example
https://www.nairaland.com/226259/manchester-united-fan-thread-forever

TV01: ...if anything newlywed 2backbeastin' should get progressively better - for a time...
it must get better till the end of time o!

...point! But it's still no guarantee and frigidity can be dealt with...
frigidity can be dealt with? how? where's the time to start taking housewife for sex therapy sessions?

...for most women, sex is first and foremost a means to an end. For most men, it is an end in itself. Many women go about their ways instinctively and often are not consciously aware why. It's why you have the "just follow your heart" mantra and it's variants. Seemingly all about feelings grin, but in truth it's the FI kicking in.
women should shape up then! so what's a man to do then? no wonder marital infidelity is almost inevitable.

The feminine imperative is largely about getting a man to invest in them and their children. Nesting basically. For the most part sex is secondary, or something to help them secure what they want.

Once a woman has got the man and the children, it takes a lot of desire and effort to keep the urge (and the figure) for sex. In fact where there are competing interests on her time, sex will typically take a back seat.

Ask any of the married women here if sex got more vigourous or frequent after the advent of a child, talkless children. Don't get me wrong, it can still hit the heights and there can still be frenzied bouts.
time to start investing in potent aphrodisiacs to slip in my wife's dinner plate. sex taking a back seat is a no-no! what's the essence of marriage then if what is meant to be freely enjoyed is being rationed?

But it's not like a plane on a 10'000 mile journey, taking off, climbing to 38'000 feet, and then crusing at the altitude until just before landing. Any man that thinks that's how his sex life will play out over the course of his marriage needs an ice dousing and a slap with a wet fish to sharply reset his expectations.

Lots of things can help sha!

TV
that's my expectation and we men should start demanding our expectation from our partners. why should we accept the status quo. women can't continue to frown at polygyny & marital infidelity and still deny their husbands at home.

if a woman feels she can no longer meet her husband's needs then she should be a sarah. she should get extra hands like a maiden for her husband. men are being shortchanged with this arrangement & it's now clear why many men in our generation are shunning marriage.

chrisley024: How to address it is the problem. They're not self inflicted, so...?
they might be self-inflicted....in terms of training regime, diet, the training pitch, the physios, etc.

RuuDie: Hold it there just one minute, young man!
Last season, you 'cussed Moyes to the high heavens, blaming his choice of training methods... now, it is 'horrible' luck!?
*S M H*
yes!
as regards to van persie's training regime, that was moyes fault. to a point, fergie had worked out a way to keep van persie fit. fergie had worked out a balanced football schedule for rio, vidic, giggs, etc and everything was ticking fine until moyes brought his bad luck.

van persie had 38/38 league appearances for man utd in 12/13. that was why we blitzed many teams home & away. he scored at white hart lane, etihad, anfield, stamford bridge, etc. we cannot have our best player sitting on the bench for most parts of the season & expecting to win the league title.

haha!

Not much difference between pre-marital and newlywed shaggin'. Especially if it's before kids and the marriage dynamic proper sets in.
thought so too!

Evenif you discard a GF after determining the coupling is not up to scratch, it does not follow that if it is, it will continue to remain so after marriage.
but i would be in a much safer place knowing she was once good at it......rather than going ahead with a woman that has never been good at it & expecting miracles to happen after marriage. i would be a hypocrite if i complain about her performance after knowing she has never been up to scratch.

Shall we take this to the man cave? It's about time we touched on hypergamy and the feminine imperative in more detail. It's actually quite dangerous for men to marry without being fully aware of this.

TV
hypergamy is an interesting topic. women rarely accept it exists or they try to make you think it was never thought about during their selection process.

our biggest issue is our injury curse. we can sign the whole madrid players & barca players, of what use would they be if they cannot be fit to play. as we speak, we have 8 or 9 first team players injured & that has been the case for more than 7 seasons now.

according to injuryroom, this has been our record since 06/07. the importance of the player injured is put in the bracket

2007/08 - 8th worst (6th worst)
2008/09 - 7th worst (3rd worst)
2009/10 - 3rd worst (2nd worst)
2010/11 - 7th worst (5th worst)
2011/12 - 1st worst (1st worst)
2012/13 - 5th worst (5th worst)
2013/14 - 7th worst (2nd worst)

how can we compete with this kinda horrible luck? the season has barely started and we are 2nd worst already. we need to address this ish. we lost the league in 11/12 cos of injuries.

lalaboi: With 160m. You can buy a good 11 and 4 very good backups for each position then fill your team with cheap but good players. compared to 100million for 15.
there are rules to this - you must have a quota of home-grown players, under-21 and then mercenaries. you can't just go on a shopping spree like city.

100/15 is even more than 160/25.

Perhaps its not average and maybe what's expected but not to be compared with ordinary FPL league players. You can fill a host of big names in an 11, something you cannot try in fpl
FPL managers would get lost here. so many things to consider & too many decisions to ponder. there's no wildcard throughout the season - we only get to make changes in this transfer window & the one in january. after august 31, it's the same squad till january
