i know people who have been to the 'ville(the toughest prison in the UK) and they coped quite well. i used to know a female CO too & she fessed prisoners have it so easy with the amount of rights they have got.

Anyway, I'd say you need to look at the prison doors and you would understand that it's more or less solitary confinement. It's different from the prison doors in other countries where in-mates can peep-outside and talk to other prison.

other countries like america ridden with gang wars, racism, drugs & södomy? yankee sheriff on a visit to the UK prison couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the lags on FIFA11 & lounging in their cells watching daytime TV.

Most old UK prisons are 23hrs lock-down expect the few new private ones. If you're not working, you're only entitled to go out of your prison cell, for 1hr a day. However, if you've got a job - you would go out more.

that's what they tell the media - inside, the outlook is different. why would a prisoner not work when it affords him the privilege to go out of his cell & even access other areas of the facility? they even get paid for working so there's incentive attached to working in every level. prisoners who work are promoted & the higher they climb, the more luxuries they get.

Also, you're also not allowed to bring those things or any electronics for that matter. You're only allowed to buy from the prison with the money on your prison account. And that's if you've got enough money on there.

nah - enhanced prisoners are allowed to bring whatever they want. DVD players, game consoles, latest fashion brands, etc. regular prisoners need money to get by but some of these prisoners have wealthy families or friends willing to put money in their prison account. when my friend was there, i subscribed guardian newspaper for 3 months on his behalf & it gets delivered to his cell by 8am everyday!!!
