shymexx: Old money things. The Kuku's are gangster, though. I saw a picture of one Kuku chief one time and the guy had beads on, with a big gold chain, that's about 40inches long - with a crown pendant. All in Yoruba native attire. grin I was like, "Darn, this OG is about that life!!" Some of my pops' brothers are like that as well. Old men in tracksuits, new era hats and airmax 95s during winter. grin
they are OGs....
they made good use of the fact that they were the first to get in contact with the white men. they levied taxes on the others taking wares & slaves to the lagos ports so they made stacks of money.

dayokanu: The same thing I told you 5yrs ago that English players are not half as good as the media make them to be

No wonder they would be struggling to qualify in a group that has Algeria, Slovenia and USA.

The moment they meet Germany they were ripped apart mind from spirit body from Soul
england lost to germany in that world cup partly because of the disallowed goal. had the scoreline remained 2-2 at half time, there was no way england would throw caution to the wind & play cavalier football that left them open in the second half.

germany scored twice in the second half from a counter-attack. a scenario that wouldn't have played out if the score was 2-2. this is not saying england were stronger than the germans but you have to agree sometimes an underdog can be a giant slayer.

shymexx: Horses?? - I need to see that.
this was the photo album of the event last year.....
http://www.oloriolawale.com/?p=1635

Perhaps, it's because Ijebu Ode is their turf, hence why they're big over there. I think the Alatise's, Balogun's, Osunsami's et al also got the juice in Ijebu ode. If you move down to Remo, you should see a tons of champions there - the Okupe's do their thing as well. Epe and Ikorodu are popping too. And the Oniru's on the other side might also have something to chip in.
chief bayo kuku, chief subomi balogun, sunny kuku(chairman eko hospital)......those are the big players. i dunno what obtains now though but the kukus always murder the others in their presentation & the horses they bring out....it's like watching lords of the ring. grin

What was it like?

Defo going to one in future!
it's a festival of opulence....even bill gates would question himself a bit if he goes there. there are thorough-bred horses dressed up with smith & wesson saddles & the full regalia in display. i was dumbfounded.....

Lilimax: grin
I know the Kuku family.
They're blessed.
kuku family - they are about class & panache. i doff my hat for them.

shymexx: @Coogar

I don't think the Kuku's run the show. There are so many strong families across Ijebuland and there's no proper champion. But the Kuku's do their thing, though. it seems they're also bi-coastal - Lagos and Ogun. I believe some of them are from Ijebuode and some are from proper Lagos.
they run the show.......i don't disagree there are other strong families but the kukus don't disappoint!

i have been to this event once and the sheer display of wealth would make you think the average nigerian is not poor. the kuku family always outshine the others. grin

Tgirl4real: From my observation, I think women are usually more matured than men of the same age. But, when they get to a certain age, the men catch up and become more matured.

What do you guys think?
it's true till at least the mid-20s in most cases. women don't usually date below their level so they get to be with the bigger boys in their teens while their male counterparts are still stuck with prepubescent girls. besides, girls mature physically faster than boys so the statement is true to an extent until the boys get into it & leave the girls in their wake.

not for nigeria....the country is too hot! even suits should be banned for men & women in nigeria.

chamotex: This is laughable at best.
I am not sure Neil Ashton watched the game.
No surprises Ashton has always been a pro Rooney journalist anyway, but to bring down Kagawa at the same time is ludicrous.
all these big english players have journos on their payroll. lampard, gerrard, rooney, etc. they use the media to get what they want - if you bench these players, the manager is in instant trouble.

only a complete fool would say rooney did better than kagawa last night. this is why the players go to international tournaments & flop cos they gas them up to be what they aren't.

chamotex: It should be down to form...whoever is on form
a one-legged RVP is better than rooney as a lead striker. it's not even debatable. the only thing rooney has is pace and pace is useless without a football brain to go with it.

rooney's decision making in the box needs help. sometimes, the difference between missing & scoring are fine details - like doing a dummy when defenders expect you to shoot or thinking out of the box. rooney lacks that intelligence.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 10:25pm On Oct 23, 2013
chamotex: That is the problem. I dont think DM has the balls to drop VP. If he is fit, he will play at the weekend and Kagawa will make way.

I've always talked about trying different things and the Rooney/Kagawa combo looked promising towards the end
just build the team round kagawa.
until kagawa cops injury or suspension, he should be the first name on the team sheet. rooney/RVP should take turns till they figure out their partnership.

another option is 3-4-1-2.
kagawa behind rooney + RVP and we sacrifice a defender. play evans + smalling + jones in the defence.
a 4 man midfield of valencia-cleverley-carrick-nani.

Purist: Kagawa easily the Man of The Match for me. cool
we should just give him the number 10 jersey, let rooney wear number 26. moyes has a decision to make. play kagawa behind one of rooney or RVP. there's no common sense putting shinji on the left - he was magnificent tonight bar his miss.....

kagawa has been outstanding. his off-the-ball running & dribbling have been world class. hernandez's runs create the space at the edge of the box for rooney but man child missed a golden opportunity to make it 2-0.

n0m0705: It is not about him being better than anyone, it is about how the team has been playing and I think we cannot be poorer than what other midfield combination have been serving us. 90 mins will judge if his inclusion is justified.
what other proof do you need that giggs is useless? he's been useless since 2009. when he plays 2 consecutive games, things get worse.

fellaini is struggling but he's not going to get better on the bench. moyes should continue to play him till he get up to speed. fergie didn't give up on evra/vidic with their poor start.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 7:19pm On Oct 23, 2013
coded guy: Which better performance, the guy should respect himself and retire for crying out loud. I would rather give Anderson that slot than play Giggs.

I have a feeling we are gonna be surprised today, am not confident at all.

If sociedad decide to crowd that midfield with giggs in there, they will tear us apart by running him over. This is a spanish team full of running.

Let's be watching sha. Damn!!!
exactly my thoughts....
giggs was the reason southampton came back and equalise on saturday. seeing him on the pitch even demoralises younger players in that position.

if i were 25 and a hapless & useless 40 year-old winger is chosen ahead of me, i would be grossly disappointed. what else does giggs want? he's as poisonous to the team as rooney.

i remember saying rooney & giggs should be sold in the summer - there cannot be a significant progress with those 2 in the squad. disastrous when the 2 start a match.

chrisley024: Sure DM is not having a bust up wit VP?
Ando didnt even make bench
rooney & colleen probably choose the team for moyes.

n0m0705: As much as I want to agree with you about giggs, the form of the other options is nothing to write home about. Maybe pa giggs can give us a better performance today. It is almost the same squad as the one that played liverpool in capital one cup and that was one of our best performance this season.
in your opinion, giggs has played better than anderson & marouane this season? really?? shocked

elampiro: Rooney was our best player against West Brom until he got tired at 70th minute. He had many km in previous matches which tired him out. Get the expert match rating of players and you will see Kagawa was nonsense. Kagawa was giving away possession. The only sensible ball he played was when Rooney put him through with a clever pass on the left.
the lie detector test says you are lying again.

kagawa completed 85% of his passes while he was on the pitch & rooney completed 78% of his passes while kagawa was on the pitch.

rooney created one chance, kagawa created 2 chances while on the pitch. rooney made 2 tackles and won 1. kagawa won 4 tackles out of the 5 attempted. they both made 2 ball recoveries....

so i ask, how's rooney better than kagawa against west brom?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 12:10pm On Oct 23, 2013
chrisley024: Rooney better than Kagawa against W'brom?

My guy, football is different from wrestling.
I know AV n Welbeck would be on ur 1st team list if u were United coach.

Remove Rooney's energy n drive n he's below average.

Wonder hw's gonna be when he turns 30. Would be better he's sold nw b4 then.
rooney is crap!
there's no need to debate more about him. see elampiro crediting rooney with the assist as if he made a deliberate pass for van persie to score. rooney missed a big chance & van persie showed him how it's supposed to be done!

https://i.minus.com/ibkvgduGie3lEg.gif

rooney is an idiöt for failing to chip the goalie from that position.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 12:04pm On Oct 23, 2013
elampiro: It is easy to have 1 goal in 10 mins when you are priotised to play against weak teams in group stage. SAF kept Rooney far away from cheap group matches once we were close to qualification. The big boys get their time against the likes of Bayern, AC Milan, Barca, Arsenal, Roma, Chelsea etc. Even Ahmed Musa scores EPL goals.
rooney's stats are shyte whether at the group stage or at the k.o. stage. hernandez is a more accomplished striker than rooney @ man utd.

elampiro: The same way United became useless once Rooney left the pitch against Southampton. RVP, Carrick and co all became clueless. Aside the Rooney's created goal which RVP capitalised on, RVP was poo all afternoon.
rooney left the pitch in the 87th minute. what did he achieve in those 87 mins? nothing! just huffing & puffing against a substandard southampton team.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 11:59am On Oct 23, 2013
Ogbeche77: Gollum substituted Kagawa in that West Brom game & they ran us over... Asides Rooney's freekick in that game, he was below par
once a player scores a freekick @ man utd, he's better than the others regardless of his poor passing accuracy, poor creativity, etc.

rooney has 29 goals, 15 assists in 5930 mins in the champions league & someone said he's the deadliest asides messi or ronaldo?

1 goal every 204 mins? grin grin grin

chicharito has 1 goal every 170 mins
van persie has 1 goal every 155 mins.
that's just in man utd, i don't even need to mention other strikers in the other top clubs.

elampiro: The same way stats were showing us Ashley Young was our best midfield/wing player despite the obvious.
...........................
this is stupidity at it's sterling quality....
statistics are fact & ozil was the best midfielder on show last night. he created the highest number of chances on the pitch. high passing accuracy & had arsenal taken their chances like dortmund, the result would have been different.

Anyone who plays for Arsenal will surely have a high pass accuracy because of their style of play. Same we anyone who plays for Barca or the Ethopian national team. I guess anyone who plays for AC Milan can't boast of such accuracy in Europe.
what has this gotta do with anything? welbeck, kagawa, etc when played in the hole for man utd show more ball retention ability than rooney. you said ozil was wack last night, the lie detector said you lied!!!

Team members do not need high pass accuracy to win matches. Otherwise Ethiopia should have beaten Nigeria in the Nations cup and the last world cup qualify match. Barca should have been UCL champion and Spain Confederation cup champion.
look at this dunderhead comparing the premier league to nigeria/ethiopia. passing accuracy is a means to an end. if you are not passing accurately then at least win your games. rooney is not passing well & he's not winning games - what the fück is he doing in the team stacking up £1m a month.

SAF said he's a slow learner - i guess that has put the argument to bed that rooney's IQ has a negative integer. he had it at the start of his career but the fat fück veered off!

The pattern of team play and the individual risk taking determines the pass accuracy. I am sure Mikel has a higher pass accuracy than those who now bench him, also he has it more than Yaya Toure.
mikel does not play as an attacking player - stop comparing apples & oranges. we are comparing rooney to his peers that also play behind a striker & he's the worst of the lot! next time, come with the facts instead of shooting your mouth about ozil!

elampiro: I knew this will come up. This is nonsense in comparison to the game I saw tonight. Which one single chance did he create? Where there any through balls? He was playing too safe.
ozil created 4 key passes, only one of them was from a setplay(the freekick near the byline when hummels upended giroud near the box).
