maclatunji: 1. Do you agree that you are the head/leader of your home?
yeah - i have been the head right from when the relationship started. as the man, i take charge!

2. Do you accept that you are primarily responsible for financing the provision of the basic needs (food, clothing & shelter)of your wife/kids?
yeah - i accept!

3. Do you accept that you have a duty to do everything in your power to ensure the general well-being of your wife/kids?
yeah - that's the essence of my manhood!
everything in my power must be done to provide for my wife and kids!

4. How would you want your wife to react if you answered in the affirmative to questions 1-3 but find that you cannot meet-up with these obligations after genuinely putting-in your best effort?
she should sit me down and offer her best support - she should understand and trust me completely that i am doing my very best to change the situation....she should also remember when the going was good - i never held back! in a nutshell, understanding one's partner is the key!

5. Do you find it easy to acknowledge when you are wrong or have done wrong? How do you apologise?
i am not ashamed to say sorry to my spouse when i do wrong - it effectively puts out unnecessary arguments - my spouse is also peace-loving, the apologies are promptly accepted and it's all good in the hood!

ileobatojo: Oh boy! There is no depth you are not willing to sink to, is there? What does it mean to get rich by inheriting your father's millions? What do connections mean in acquiring wealth?
see sheer idiocy at its sterling quality....
so if my father worked twice as hard as his peers - made money for himself and left enough for me to inherit now means no hard work was done at all? even with that - i still have to work at it to sustain the business. wealth is not what you have in your reserve, it's the cash flow! if you are not making any income at all and all you do is dip into your reserves then you are not rich! Forbes will not even recognise you if the money is made via inheritance - get some education, my friend and stop blocking my rearview mirror.....

You know what, I won't let your airheadedness pigheadedness be a hindrance to my prayers. I'm trying to repent in this family section abeg. grin
go to church if you want to preach repentance - this is a public forum, don't turn it into a religious house.....

I agree with you completely, hardwork is the only legitimate way to get wealth. Poor people are lazy and they are only poor because they don't work hard. All poor people are lazy, all lazy people are poor. All hardworking people are rich. All rich people are hardworking. Sh' obatan? You're right, I'm wrong, my IQ is in the negative digits. FBS: How much FBS makes is highly irrelevant because anyone including you will agree that 50 milla is no small money by any standard.
So if Torres is playing like a 1 milla pound player (and atimes even worse) it is because he himself is baffled as to why RA paid that much for him. I will like to know the guy who sold an out of date solar battery (FT) to Pyrios (RA).
Even Benitez can't do nada with FT's form now. Do you see how he is when on the ball?
this mentality has to change amongst football fans.
the price tag means nothing....hernandez at £6m, torres @ £50m, dzeko @ £27m, etc - does it then mean torres would have 8 legs and 2 heads or produce 800% more efficiency than hernadez? at the end of the day, it's one striker versus the other. a striker of 2000 naira can outperform an off-form ronaldo on any given day! messi's worth can buy the whole of celtic and yet celtic demolished them the other night - people who attach price tags with players are malicious....

torres didn't pocket the £50m, liverpool did!
whose fault is it that dalglish overpriced torres and chelsea were too gullible to match the price? if the values make so much difference then torres should be counted as 3-4 players, shouldn't he? even if he's priced at £699 trillion, he would still need the help of his team mates to perform. he would not score all by himself - football is a team game not about individual expensive players.

ileobatojo: Dodo, how does the fact that you said handwork is the only legitimate way to get rich change the fact that I showed you that inheritance and connections are legitimate ways to get rich thereby proving that statement of yours to be absolutely, ridiculously false?!
If I had mentioned fraud and scamming et al, then you would have a small point, but I only mentioned legitimate alternatives to your mindless, simplistic stand! Stop making a nuisance of yourself.
you should become the life president of the mental handicap association...
crikey me.....inheritance and connections? what do they mean? so you can get rich by connecting with mike adenuga? you mean adenuga would just give u a fraction of his wealth and bang - you are rich? the connections don't entail executing a contract or getting a written note to work somewhere and save up to become rich? where were you when your creator was distributing intelligence? at the back of the queue - arguing blindly like you are doing and not knowing removing key words like "legitimate" and "only" alters the message of a comment....

My point is stop trying to flip flop, stop moving the goal post. Own your simplicity! It's all your's, own it!
you lack wisdom......
ok - you want to get rich? don't work - just sit down at home fasting and praying and benjamin notes would just stream into your dinghy bedroom and money is made. even criminals and fraudsters work round the clock to make their money - not to talk of doing it the legit way......

beneath you? your poverty of common sense proves otherwise.....

He has been in the UK since he was three and he is a product of the British system. He does not have any contacts with his family and the only thing Nigerian about him is his name! He is their own. A good percentage of British athletes had Nigerian names but they play for UK. Success they say has many relations but failure is an orphan. They should live with their own!
you are a miserable tool.....
so kids of foreigners in nigeria raised by the nigerian system are nigerians? why do we have so many half-baked nigerian graduates for feck sake? the percentage of nigerian athletes doing sports for the uk means shyte.....people who left nigeria after 25 yrs were able to change their nationalities as well - you can naturalise at any time - it still does not change the fact that this bloke is nigerian! if he was born in britain, you would have a point but he wasn't........that dude is your fellow nigerian: take it or leave it!

Here you go.
On to your next query:

Who said these? Me?
Now you did modify it here and add legitimate (back to your flip-flopping ways, but never mind that). So I will give you that.
so it just dawned on you i mentioned "legitimate"?
maybe you just found out the true meaning of legitimate!

Yes, I could have said the "only and legitimate" way in my last post. It still does not change the rest of my post one bit, since I only showed you other legitimate ways of getting rich besides hard work.... Just admit you've been owned
how wont it change the rest of the comment? you know what those 2 words do in the context of generalization, don't you? so removing the words "only" and "legitimate" in my comments do not alter the specifics? you should sue every tutor that has ever managed your educational development - stark illiterate!

My congolese midget will take on your shriveled pea sized attention span any day!!
since you don't know the difference words like "only" and "legitimate" do to a sentence, i am not even sure you have any attention span - one would need an electron microscope to see your intelligence quotient(it's that negligible)!!! olodo 20 kobo.....

we are taking about the vast majority - and she's talking about people who made money via inheritance....how many nigerians made money via huge inheritance? even if they did - someone in the family tree worked hard and managed his resources well for the money to flow down the blood line.........so what's your point here?

Nashville: You people should understand that the guy IS NOT NIGERIAN! He only has a Nigerian name! He has been in London since he was 3 years old and has nothing Nigerian in him. It's like saying Obama is great because he is Kenyan. Obama is only Kenyan by name, same with this guy.

The British are good at disclaiming people when they turn out bad. If the guy had turned out to be a great athlete, they will never mention he came from Nigeria. When Phillips Idowu and others were winning medals for Great Britain they did not say they were Nigerian. Useless people. This guy is British
shut up - he's nigerian!
he came from nigeria since he was 3 does not mean he's no nigerian - he wasn't born in england, how's he then british?

dayokanu: Mata tops the league in assist So what personal issues are we talking about? Was he assisting himself?
we are talking about today's match for effing sake - why do you like moving the post? i said mata was utter wânk tonight....same as silva, hazard and oscar. the people who are supposed to bring the creativity to the table all failed woefully! torres would not carry the ball from cech and score by himself just because he was bought for £50m. at the end of the day it's still 11 vs 11.

FBS: For 50 milla, I will mop all the streets of London and Lagos and naked too. For 50 milla Fernando should be working HARDER than every other player on the pitch. And should be performing his primary functions and very well too. In this he has failed so far. Folks will argue that it is because he has the wrong tool.
The bigger question though is, when other attackers were performing where was Torres?

Honestly, I think it is an insult to CFC folks to even discuss this guy again. It's a non-issue.
that's because you don't make £1m a decade - it's natural to think you would capture the sun for £50m. do you really think £50m would mean so much for torres like it would mean to you? humans are insatiable. if you start making £100m a day from tomorrow, by march next year you would want a raise......your satisfaction is relative to the people in your immediate environment.

coded guy: @ coogar
You can admit that mata could lose form and not perform as he is supposed to, that is, supply balls to torres right at his feet but would not want to admit that Torres himself has also lost his own blistering form as you so succinctly put it when describing Mata form.

Even when Torres is with the ball he seems clumsy like clusty the clown, he probably needs to rest and do some soul searching to rediscovver his form again. Playing him day in day out will only increase the pressure on the guy. It is now believed that Torres gets games because of RA. Simples. Most other coaches would have dumped him like hot iron regrdless of his price tag.

Note: Am not hEaping the dismal play of the team on Torres, just that, he is not helping himself and blaming everyone except torres just does not cut it. Team should not be playing for one person, last time a checked, football was a team sports. Everybody should work for every body.
all i know is this -
everything i have mentioned on this thread in the last 18 months about torres has been vindicated. it was on this thread i first mentioned chelsea should play torres like benitez did. it was nateevs and i who then posted torres' first 50 goals at liverpool to highlight the kind of goals he love scoring - that his strength!

you cannot play hernandez like rooney......or play michael owen like drogba....
united's midfielder adapted to the strengths of the different strikers they have had in the last 2 years. the way we fed berbatov is different from the way we fed hernandez - why can't chelsea do the same? look at the goals hernandez scores - quick release from the deep that sets him with the last defender and the ones berbatov used to score. there's a stark contrast - that's the job of intelligent midfielders.....chelsea still want to play torres like they have drogba upfront - it's not going to work!

pro01: My brother, this is an unfortunate point of view for so many reasons. I did not have the patience to read beyond your post, because I think your post epitomises the flawed mindset that warranted this thread. Your opinion is based on too many wrong assumptions; remember that the thread is about 'class' and class divisions, not about values, education, et al.

1. You assume that class has much to do with "labouring hard", and that your class determines how 'good' your wife is and how beautiful your daughters are.

2. You assume that people that are not rich (or that are not in your 'class') cannot have good family values and cannot have excellent upbringing.

3. Most importantly, you not only assume, but you CONCLUDE that people in lower classes are necessarily "dirty-looking and unkempt". In other words, if YOU turn up at Dangote's door and ask's for his daughter's hand in marriage, you would be regarded as "dirty-looking and unkempt", simply because you're not worth up to 1% of his $billions - regardless of how 'clean' you are, or how hardworking you are. This i s exactly the point you're making.

Reminds me of some courtesans I've known; when you ask them why they like dancing shamlessly around wealthy men, they retort "do you expect me to date riff-raffs"! In their opinion, it is either you are wealthy, or you are a riff-raff. No middle-class, no in-betweens. Nothing! I am then forced to remind them that, by their own definition, they themselves are riff-riffs - since they are not wealthy, and nowhere near the class of men they sell themselves to.

In any case, 'rich' is a relative concept. As such, based on your orientation, people that are far richer than you would assume that you are a riff-raff - irrespective of your behaviour, looks, values, education, or anything else.

Truly unfortunate mindset, I tell you.
now, this is the vagueness i am talking about.......
there are places dangote would go and he would be considered a tramp(and that's nigerian's richest man)........it's all about relativity! what is rich to me could be considered poor by you so there's no really hard and fast rule -

my example is a scenario between a very very rich chic and a very very poor boy!

ileobatojo: What hard work would you say a child who inherits his family's wealth did? The hard work of sleeping and waking up every morning till his parents died?
his parents have worked hard for him.....why would he need to work again? stop citing isolated cases and talk about what works generally....this is why arguing with a nigerian can be tedious! they go for the very very rare case instead of citing what works for the majority....

How about those who obtain wealth on the strength of their family connections? What hard work did they do that is more than the laborer working from sunrise to sunset 24/7 to feed his family?
even those types are comfy to a certain extent - they are not rock bottom poor. when i mean poor, i mean stark poverty - like that refuse dump dude that BBC interviewed some years ago!

How does a poor man make a 'decent income'?
who's taking about a poor man making a decent income?

Asides this, how many Naija men, especially players play it by one rule? Men are majorly the ones who proposes marriage in Nigeria, and it is a common phenomenon to see a guy - dating several girls concurrently - decides he is ready to marry, then ...asks Girl A (the main girl) whom he loves most to marry him, if she says yes, it is only a matter of time until he dumps Girl B (the back up girl)... If Girl A she says no, he asks Girl B (the back up girl), some even have girl C, D, etc...

Now you see Girl B,C,D going round town, delirious with joy, flashing an engagement ring, posting pictures on facebook, Twitter, BBM, etc... unbeknown to her that she was second fiddle...(and i know loads of girls like this and all i just do is mutter "if only you knew"... I am sure you have even read stories to that effect on Nairaland about girls coming to lament that their boyfriend whom had been refusing to discuss marriage with them...broke up with them and was getting married to someone else in a fortnight!!!

How does one know if this is not one of such stories, especially considering the fact that the ex forgave the OP after she cheated on him and was still willing to marry her, but she wasn't interested due to pride!

And how many times do we read stories here of "Daddy just left home and abandoned us and moved in with another woman, and we typical Nigerians blame it on juju, huh!!![/quote]hammer collides with the head of the nail........

Anvaller: Oh no coogar. Are u kidding me? So when a person is poor, u see them as dirty and unkempt... hmmm.. I see... but hey the poster wasn't asking about rich men allowing their children to marry junkieshuh cos the picture u have in ur mind is that of a junky. He said "poor people".
define poor people cos this is drifting to vagueness
i cannot answer your question cos you people are now shifting the post. the son of a civil servant in nigeria is not poor - he's middle class!

Let me help u here, the child of a common civil servant for example in Nigeria of today is absolutely "poor" if he is hoping to marry the child of a multi-millionaire. But in such scenario, u can not say such person is dirty and unkempt, there is just a wide gap in financial status and that's all, look I am sorry but I sense arrogance in ur reasoning.
define poor? put a salary scale to it and stop moving from post to post
this is getting tedious now and the whole topic is relative. what's poor to me could be rich to you and vice versa - so i don't even want to go round in circles. my stance is based on a very very rich girl and a very very poor boy!

dahonestboss: coogar
from this your comment, I guess your accept the fact that we are all equals as human, but the only differences is our financial status. but you lay more concentration on economic status, what if the suitor is still studying, or just a middle class comfortable person?
we are not equal as human beings - don't deduce wrongly
even on nairaland that is completely virtual, there's no equality - some people have more rights than you do.....so stop kidding yourself you are equal to pastor oyakhilome because you have 2 eyes and 2 ears.

and what if the suitor as well is a criminal, or a rich Nigerian pastors with private jets all over, I guess the requirement in marrying your daughter is simple. be rich. pls correct me if I am wrong
of course you are wrong.....
being rich is not only the yardstick.......nigerians are often brainwashed that most rich people are bad n evil - big lie. you would find more well mannered people amongst the rich than the poor. you would find more criminals amongst the poor folks than the rich folks. what i want for my daughter is a responsible guy that would take adequate care of her!

But you still fail to answer my question. here it is again.
what if your daughter insist on marrying somebody that you think does not meet your ''class'' what would you do? taking into consideration her right to choose.
now, where would she meet someone that does not meet my requirement?
have you ever met babangida's daughter before in one of your sojourns to kuramo beach? would you ever come across mike adenuga's daughter @ kokobar? you just don't meet rich people anyhow - they are well sheltered and shielded from poor folks - like i said, you watch too much nollywood of poor ramsey nouah dating the princess of the village!

So any poor man dat comes for ur daughter must ride in okada? Is dat ur yard stick of measuring btw rich and the poor,? And wat happens wen he comes with his car?( As I know a lot of poor poeple dat drives cheap cars)..
cars are different from cars, my friend! the sound system in some cars would buy some people's cars. i think you need to define "poor" and "rich" before this argument can proceed any further - you are beginning to move the post!

And by comportment I mean his generall manarisms and conversations not limited to table manners,
there would still be a difference.....even his self confidence would vaporise in the presence of the parents of the rich folks no matter how much he can pretend....

Meanwhile I never thot its a bad idea to want ur daughter to marry into a wealthy family, just dat if u only use physical and trivial things to judge between d rich and poor then u r lost. As I know a lot of rich people dat chose a very simple life style dat u can never know dia worth untill u get very close.
you cannot hide wealth.....something would stand out like a sore thumb simple life or no simple life. the basic necessities of life would still be present no matter how simple you want to be as a rich man - and that alone is enough to qualify of disqualify any suitor!

can you please specify in ''particular'' what makes human different from each other?
why are you different from nigerian politicians? look at them, a small group of them are eating from 95% of the country's wealth while YOU and 95% of the nigerian population are left with the remaining 5% resources? when you bend your mind around that, ask me that question again.....

Its like you are raising your daughter strictly for the benefits you will get from their suitors, and its like you are forgetting something here, what if your daughter insist on marrying somebody that you think does not meet your ''class'' what would you do? taking into consideration her right to choose.
far from it....
i am raising my daughter for the security of her future.....i want to be sure the man i would give her to would take care of her and her children like i took care of my daughter. if i marry her to a poor guy, how's he going to achieve that feat? isn't he going to be a pest to my daughter. i am all for a symbiotic relationship......if you are a fan of a parasitic relationship then good luck to you. when you raise your daughter, marry her to the tallest fan yoghurt vendor in oshodi!

Consider urself ignored till ur learn some social n communication skills cos not everyone has to tolerate the result of bad upbringing n messed up mind.
consider myself ignored? i am heartbroken - not talking to you would take off loads of pounds from my bank and leave me destitute. you miserable cünt - who are you by the way that ignoring me would cause me so much grief?

i need to strut across the street to the cash machine so i can buy you some artificial intelligence. this is the outcome when a foetus fails to get the necessary nutrients via the placenta. in the punditry of hard currency, your intelligence at best would be the somalian shillings!

ileobatojo: Yeah, I'm good with just completely ignoring those previous statements like they never happened. wink lipsrsealed
what you talking about willis?

Well according to your previous posts (which we are now ignoring, by the way wink lipsrsealed) , as long as he works harder like all the rich people before him have done, it will be guaranteed that he would be rich tomorrow.
all things being equal, it should be guaranteed
the surest and the only way to legitimate wealth is through hard work. if you know any other means, kindly tell us here.....

Anyway, my nitpicking aside, I agree that it will be extremely hard for a very rich person to marry a very poor person especially if it's the female that is rich, but who are we to decide if a woman wants to 'keep her man'. There are many possible middle grounds to this issue.
in most cases, the woman is naive.......after all, it's the parents that have worked on hands n knees to provide her the opulence she enjoys, how would she know what gives? like i have said, when you become rich, giftwrap your first daughter to okon(your houseboy) - you would be doing humanity a big favour!!

OMO IBO: coogar, you do realise this is it for Torres.
He's got Benitez now.

surely, he must deliver now.
he would deliver if the players behind him deliver!
all the attempted long balls chelsea aimed at him today were pathetic. chelsea attempted few early ball to him in the first half but it's clear chelsea lack that quality.....mikel obi needs to take a hard look at himself. what happened to mikel's creativity? it seems chelsea coached it out of him completely. in 2006, mikel was as good as scholes with delightful long passes - now, he's simply shyte at it!

do you believe that everyone is equal? regardless of economic status?
everyone is not equal - forget that nonsense.....
even in the developed countries where they preach equal rights - everyone is not equal!

if you take it back to nigeria....then the difference is stark. in the same nigeria where you have a man with 100-bedroom mansion and 600 cars and his next door neighbour cannot afford to buy a motorcycle - and you want me to think every man is equal?

Yusfull: Name your prize man.... grin
nah, you name your qualifications and why you think you are the right person for my daughter?

pweeryambre: Since when does being poor means one have to wear tattered clothes, most of d time a suitor coming for ur daughter knows abt d family status and as such wil dress well and comport himself wen visiting..
comport himself how? like knowing which set of cutleries to use with which food? which glass to use for which drink? etiquette? mannerisms? class and grace? can those be taught if you have never experienced it? my friend, dressing smartly isn't the only difference between the rich and the poor - a host of other things are included!

And u will never know his poor unless u had a background check on him or ask direct questions before u find out. Meanwhile in class of poor, there are still sub classes which include: average poor, painfully poor, destitutes. Etc.
but he came to ask for my daughter on okada....
if he's taking her out, he would put her on okada, isn't it? can you now see the risks involved? parents who shield their daughters from such are not stüpid....when you become rich, kindly giftwrap your first daughter to musa(your meiguard), ok?

ileobatojo: I'm sorry, what's the main difference? So all poor people will be automatically be rich once they try harder? All people who are rich worked hard to get rich?
there's a bar between the poor and the rich. let the rich marry the rich and let the poor marry the poor. if peradventure a poor dude breaks the barrier and moves upstream to the rich man's echelon then he is no longer poor, he's now rich and he can marry a rich girl. it's quite different from prediction and forecasting. "i am not rich now but i would be rich tomorrow" - what's the guarantee of that?

Yusfull: I'm rich already bro.... How old is your daughter then maybe we can work out somfin.... grin grin grin grin grin
my daughter is 19 currently in havard......
before then, she went to one of the most expensive secondary schools in abuja - i have practically spent mega fortunes to raise her to the level she is at the moment. so what do you have to offer her or do you intend to take from her?

dahonestboss: being poor or looking unkempt doesn't mean a person status will remain like that forever, most times its never the fault of the person, at least in Nigeria. but I think the best to do is to sit the man and evaluate him, to see if he has potentials and/or if he is right for your daughter. marrying a rich man does not guarantee happiness or stability in richness, and if you are after your daughter happiness, then you would sort it out regardless of the person's economic status
you people watch too much nollywood movies or listen to cinderella stories.....
how many poor folks would be right for a rich man's daughter in probability? maybe 10%. the risk is too high to even get a consideration from me. too many issues would clash if you allow such relationship develop. this is not a tale of a prince and cinderella asking all the women in a city to fit into a shoe-size. that is fairy-tale - this is reality!

ileobatojo: Wait, please can you fully commit to the statement that poor people are only poor because they don't work hard and rich people are only rich because they do? I want to make sure we are clear that's what you are saying so that when I fully debunk it, you will gladly accept the embarrassment. I don't want any flip-flopping on your position after your bs has been exposed.
i don't want to know why poor people are poor - i am not a financial analyst! i am saying people who are rich worked hard to get to that position and the less privileged should try harder and follow the footsteps of the ones above them. if the price is too steep, let them remain where they are and marry their class! na by force?
