At the time we signed the Emirates deal we were ruling the roost with our invincibles. Clearly our negotiating position is much weaker with our underwhelming performances.

If past experience is the best indicator of future success, Chelski should still be waiting for their first title in 60 years, not winning three of the last 7.

Like I said previously, you've completely become deluded. The cash we have is because we could attract big crowds due to previous success. Simple logic tells you that if you stop offering a chance of success, that appeal will wane.

To trumpet the financial success while naively downplaying trophies as 'emotional' tells me all I need to know.

Wenger has no lifetime claim to the job. If he is unable to adapt to the demands he should step aside. His contributions will never be forgotten, but there comes a time when you start getting judged on PRESENT performance on the pitch, not the past.

I have also told you that the current board bares little/no resemblance to the board that laid the foundations for what we have now.

Edelman, Fiszman, Dein, Bracewell-Smith are no longer with the board. Things have changed but you fail to realise the need for change.
don't mind the charalatan.
he has been hoodwinked by wenger's trickery and use of sweet words. who does not know arsenal have failed massively in the last 6-7 yrs?
wenger should keep thanking the people that came up with the idea of season tickets - they are arsenal's saviour.

statistics count empty seats because those seats have been paid for by season ticket holders and this is why you see the emirates half-empty and you still see 59,976 attendance announced before the end of the game.
wenger cannot take arsenal further than he has done. he should step aside and let a competent hand take it from here.

A lobotomized babboon can construct a more cogent argument. Are you for once implying that 7.5 million in 1995 adjusted for inflation in 2012 = 50m?
Seriously, Its not worth discussing, got better things to do at present than to educate a recalcitrant doofus. grin grin
this is halfwittery on glorious display.
nando torres is a british transfer record. dennis bergkamp was a british transfer record in 95.
what i am saying is only rich clubs break transfer records so to open your cesspit and say arsenal weren't buoyant before wenger is a white elephant lie.

Crass idiocy on display, I leave the lying to you amigo. If I'm not mistaken Newcastle had the highest transfer fee on Papis Cisse in the last January window. Does that put them into the current top 4 in terms of financial value? and when Robert Green and Paul Robinson were England's number 1, did they play for top 4 clubs?   cheesy
the stupidity platelets in your blood keep multiplying.
this tool is comparing papis cisse transfer to dennis bergkamp that was a british transfer record in 1995.
if there's a place called heaven, you wouldn't be in it. even the angels despise dunderheads like yourself.

arsenal were poor and yet they broke a transfer record set by andy cole(£7m) by signing bergkamp(£7.5m).
it's the equivalent of chelsea signing nando torres(£50m).
if you don't even know the history of your beloved club then you are not fit to be discussing football on these pages, you inscrutable neophyte!

This is an appraisal not backed up by any fact, evidence or history, just some kinda eloquent mumbojumbo of a fan who wants his club to win at all costs and while that is not necessarily a bad thing it doesn't make it right either.  tongue
shaking my head.

Before the arrival of this now idealistic manager Arsenal was a club you wouldn't put in the top 4 in terms of financial value in the UK, it has since grown to become the 2nd most valuable club in the land under the stewardship of a board that found the right manager for the club. Yes, with time the competitive environment has changed and there has been an influx of money leading to a season of drought but through all these Arsenal the club has kept its head above water grown its earnings, built a stadium, developed a productive youth system and stayed competitive while sticking to its principles of sustainability.
you wouldn't put arsenal in the top 4 in terms of financial value and yet they were able to pay the wages of seaman(england's number 1 goalkeeper). they were able to sign dennis bergkamp(the highest transfer fee in 95), etc. must you lie to make idiotic points? arsenal were as rich as the top clubs dominating.

Let us critically examine the evidence free of emotional pain at not winning trophies, you say we have money but did this money just fall into our lap from some Benefactor like Chelsea? or did it come about by prudent and sustainable management? would such an amount of money have been available if for example we bought Fernando Torres for 50m last year or Andy Carroll for 35m? I am proud that this club has been well managed to such an extent that we can even talk of the availability of money when others are going cap in hand to Abu Dhabi and Russia to fund expenditure on players.
why do you continue to compare arsenal to chelsea? why not compare arsenal to tottenham or to man utd?
why is the gulf between man utd and arsenal so obscene these days that it's pretty much certain united would finish 15+ points ahead of arsenal? what happened to the glory days when it used to be strictly ferguson vs wenger?

There is a lot I am not happy about at Arsenal and you're right that there is still so much more to do but while we always seek for excellence and are quite entitled to build our castles in the air, let us not forget that we live in a real world governed by the laws of economics. Human needs are unlimited but our resources limited. I am quite satisfied that Arsene has managed the resources he has to generate as close to optimal returns as you could have in this present time. Obviously, the board shares that same view which is why he hasn't been sacked yet. That is why I've put my money into Arsenal both as a fan and as an investor and will continue to do so in the near future. I love and believe in this club and its future and I see no reason at present to change my opinion.
this club has no future.
the youth policy has failed wenger or wenger has failed his own policy. the truth lies somewhere in between.

duduspace:
No, he chose Arsenal over Dag & Red against his father's advice and yes Fergie didn't want to keep Morrison, infact he so much wanted to get rid of him that he paid West Ham 1m to take him off his hands and told Rio Ferdinand to 'not' publicly express his displeasure at the boy's choice to leave Manure.
Also he is not the best youth talent to come out of Manure's academy since Paul Scholes and didn't win the FA Youth cup for Manure and isn't better than Gibbs and Wilshere combined into the same player and so on and so forth.
you are a pathological liar.
united were never interested in oxdale chamberlain. if they were, there's no way oxdale would choose a perennial losing team like arsenal over man utd.
smalling is a league winner, jack wilshere isn't. chamberlain has to be daft to choose arsenal over man utd. he never got that option.

fergie wanted morrison out as the boy could not sort his attitude. he was missing training session and causing a general nuisance to the team spirit.
his contract was up. . . . if fergie wanted him to stay, he would have renewed his contract but fergie chose to leave things to play out and his agents sought other clubs for him. he's moved to west ham under sam allardyce - i can only wish him good luck but stop lying fergie wanted to keep him to score cheap brownie points.

How far back do you want to go in your lunatic attempt at changing the past and eating your own vomit?  grin grin

Firstly, please give an example of the bolded.
And supply evidence on all this pub/beer parlour talk. You can accuse me of many things but you can't say I don't give evidence of what I say.
You mention Smalling and Jones but quietly omit Oxlade Chamberlain who chose us over Manure.
You also conveniently omit Coogar's favorite son who Manure wanted to keep but now wears West Ham colours.
I have also always said that Arsenal have cash and IMO will spend in the summer. However, I will still sound a note of caution that I still don't see us spending anything beyond say 35 - 40m and it will not be because we were beaten 4 - 0 at the San Siro rather it will be the normally expected financial expenditure to make improvements in playing staff that the club has been unable to make in the recent past due to financial constraints.
oxdale chose arsenal over man utd?
fergie wanted to keep morrison?

Mr coogar,
How many points/ wins did Chelsea rake in when Lampard was out of the team this year vs How many points did they get when he played
that information is irrelevant. . . what is relevant however is that during lampard's absence, chelsea lost a total of 0 games.
he came back last weekend and chelsea lost. lampard provided pienaar's assist @ goodison park.

Adetayo100:
@ Coogar u must be an ediot for calling me names, can't u make ur point without using insultive words who cares if you live 3 inches away from london.  How many matches has Torres won for us with or without Lampard for over a year now
you are a consummate dunderhead.
who started calling names when you said i was spewing rubbish about lampard and i don't even watch chelsea games?
i only have nice words for the people that are nice to me. - you geriatric w@nker.

StarBoard:
coogar,
I'd like to disagree with you.
I'd rather say Torres has proven unreliable with the few chances he's had.Truth is; he hasn't convinced anyone he is confident enough to stick the ball in at any opportunity he gets.
But back to the Lampard thing,I'm not so sure it's about penalties. This season, Frank Lampard has done more to get in the box than Torres himself. That's why he has more goals in my view.
His powers are definitely on the wane, but he has saved Chelsea's blushes this season, turning draws to wins and losses to draws.
He more than anyone on that side does that.
As for playing to the strength of strikers,Daniel Sturridge for whatever reason has had his own fair share of goals. So something is missing;might be a tactical flaw from AVB. . .so you might have a point about not playing to the strenngth of strikers; but Torres can't use that as a leeway in my view.
he has also turned plenty of potential wins into losses for chelsea.
he lost chelsea the games against arsenal and liverpool @ stamford bridge. lampard was a liability in those games.
the wreck started back then - not these days.

daniel sturridge is a selfish player.
i don't care if he's scored few goals or not. you saw him against man utd. he was only focused on scoring for his own selfish reasons not for the team.
you saw the cross torres supplied for mata - that is exactly what torres should be getting from malouda and sturridge. . . . but when sturridge gets to the box, he shoots at goal from acute angles.

StarBoard:
@coogar,
As much as my teeth are too gritted to say it,dayokanu brings up a point about Spain.
If Torres cannot thrive there, there's no need to make any argument about him.
He might as well prove me wrong by sinking Birmingham tomorrow with four goals, but I'm not impressed by his performance since he moved to Chelsea.
the point about spain has been used and reused and tired.
fact is - torres started having shyte games for spain only after aragones left and del bosque copied barcelona's total tiki-taka.

the problem with tiki-taka is that it's slow - the same slow boring pass pass pass that makes strikers wait forever until the final ball comes through.
in euro 2008, aragones deployed a bit of tiki taka and a chunk of pragmatism too.

torres scored at the euros and his scoring prowess faded after spain started the 100% total tiki taka during the world cup. the passes don't come to him quicker any more and his breed of striker isn't going to fit into that kind of slow build up. it's also the reason he cannot fit into chelsea.

these 2 teams have the slowest build-ups in europe.

BlueDiva:
Why does anyone bother arguing with coogar?
He knows the truth, he just enjoys playing devils advocate.

Everybody know FT is finished both for club and country.
Also, AVB is clueless in man management. Those are the two major problems we have.

A manager who knows what he is doing will bring out the best in Lukaku. That guy has potentials.
He is far better than the dud we use upfront.
Play DS as a CF and he will slam in goals like he did at Bolton.
play daniel sturridge as a centre forward? who would feed him the ball?
the useless malouda or which winger has common sense @ chelsea?

Anyway,I'm guessing that phrase shouldn't be taken word-for-word.
Everyone knows the Brittania is one of the hardest places to get a result. They up their game when the big teams come there.Example-United, Chelsea and Liverpool haven't managed a win there this season.
I'm not saying Barcelona won't win there, but it's going to be difficult for them to get any kind of result there.Hence the phrase.
That Valencia won there shouldn't mean that statement has no value.

lampard is a liability.
the quicker you get him out of the team, the better.
with him around, chelsea cannot build the team around mata. . . .and the general performance of the team keeps suffering.
what does lampard bring to the chelsea team?

StarBoard:
But wait. . .
How come Lampard is one of the top scorers for Chelsea this season?
Surely the problem isn't with Lampard,is it?
Just asking because it doesn't make sense to me to blame someone who is producing at a certain level, while others are doing absolutely next to nothing
very good question. . . . .this is because lampard is the chief penalty taker!
and that lampard is the highest goal scorer in chelsea should tell you the team does not play to the strength of their strikers.
why should a midfielder be the highest goal scorer of a team that has torres as a striker? does the team feed torres enough with the ball? no!!

like i keep saying, no striker can flourish in the current chelsea set-up. if you look at the teams around chelsea, you would know why van persie, aguero, rooney, adebayor, etc are banging the goals in. the midfielders/wingers of these teams are always seeking out to feed the striker the ball. as useless as theo walcott is on the wing, the first thing on his mind is to play van persie in. same as valencia/nani. . . . same as bale/lennon.

@ chelsea, malouda and sturridge cannot be bothered with crossing into the box. they shoot anywhere they have a clear sight on goal no matter how acute the angle is. it's like malouda has lost all the football intelligence he garnered at france. daniel sturridge should not be playing for a premier league team. he has zero knowledge about playing as a team and yet we automagically expect torres to collect the ball from cech and dribble his way into the net like a comic character. how can he when the chumps he play with rarely give him the ball?

in man utd, arsenal and tottenham, torres would be scoring tap-ins for fun.
you watch some of the goals rooney and van persie have scored this season and you know these kind of goals are virtually impossible @ chelsea.
the wingers understand nothing. they don't even cross often. they leave the crosses for the full-backs whose late arrival must have allowed the defending team to plug all the holes chelsea's strikers would have utilized.

We don't have a choice right now, Arsenal went long when everyone else decided to go short and have ridden out the storm so far, it would be waving a white flag to suddenly change now. I also don't see it changing now since Kroenke was always part of the board he was in on it and must have given assurances he would pursue the same policy to get Fitzman's shares.
Even if the revenues dwindle in the short term we'll make up for it at some point when income from commercial sources improves or until Kroenke decides he's had enough of penny pinching (whichever comes first).
By the way,  I back that policy (as you know, I now have vested interests and can't be totally impartial  grin). If Arsenal's position is going to improve in the long term, its either

a. We give up on self sustainability and go down the Sugar daddy route.
or
b. FFP changes the competition landscape and brings wages under control so we can keep our talents long enough to reap what we've sown.

against everton, last weekend, lampard featured as well. when lampard was absent - the team had an unbeaten streak until lampard brought his bad luck to the team @ goodison park.

starboard and Debosky still dey fight cheesy
on our thread i already mentioned that the account is a parody account
it is not a parody account. . . .i know about fake twitter accounts.
that is eboue's twitter account.

same way someone opened an account with Wole Soyinkas name and in few days he had thousands of followers

1) The handle isnt verified and there is no footballer on planet earth that has an unverified account

2) 20k followers? when Adebayor that started just last week has close to a million?
but 2face has 20k. . . .so go figure!
abeg link me to adebayor's twitter with 1 million followers.

And how many did Chelsea win in those games where Lampard was absent

How wont they lose when Torres is loafing around the field
lampard played against everton and chelsea lost!
lampard was absent against man utd and chelsea drew.

^^^ It was once seen as "socially-unacceptable" and it only became acceptable half a decade ago. if you didn't know, now you know. I am not of the opinion that cycling shorts are an appropriate substitute for panties but there is nothing wrong when worn atop panties. shikena.
it's a tacky practise known to bush people.
if you look around you, you would find out it is those naija babes in your community with the same obtuse practise. . .

men have been rocking blazers on their jeans since the stone age.
where have you been living all this while?

For all those saying player power this and that, simple fact: AVB is a poor politician and a poor man manager. He has no redeeming qualities cos his tactics and substitutions on the pitch are just as dire as his man management off it.

He went from saying he would create "philosophy" and "strategy" to having no strategy, no style of play and no identity on the pitch.
he won't appear to have a philosophy when his most experienced player(fat lampard) was assisting steven pienaar's first goal.
lampard is a liability.
