Thanks a lot. |
@eghosajohnny, much thanks. Just a few clarifications please. 1. Will this revised cost take care of the staircases? 2. In some earlier threads, it was mentioned that a budget of about N50 should be estimated per block. By today's standards, is that no longer a valid estimate? Thanks. Cool |
Good day, We're planning to construct the first floor of a building. So, we asked for quote that will take us from the decking to roof (decking already constructed). It is a single 4-bedroom apartment and we got the quotes below. Total number of blocks estimated: 3000 Bricklayer's labour bill for setting block up to roofing level (his exact words): N450,000 Carpenter's workmanship: N65,000 Iron bender workmanship: N75,000 Other information: 1. There are 2 staircases in the plan. We expect the construction of the stairs to be included in the quotes. Do you think they've included these costs? 2. There are 20 pillars in the plan. 3. Site is in Ibafo, Ogun State I'd like to hear from the experienced people on this forum before we talk to the workmen because right now, I'm alarmed, to say the least. Thanks. Cool |
Thanks. Cool |
Good day, Please what markets in Lagos can one find a good array of tiles and sanitary wares to choose from? Thanks. Cool |
This seems like a very important structural defect. We await experts' submissions please. Cool |
@Spyder880: Thanks for the response. Any pros and cons in respect of the high ceiling that will result? I'm thinking probably improved ventilation but with so much space above the window level, I'm not sure air circulation will be positively affected. Someone should please educate me about this! |
It seems there are 3 layers of blocks above the lintel. Please why 3 layers and not 1 or 2 as I usually see? Thanks. Cool |
Good quality vibrated blocks are required for a site at Ibafo. Kindly advise on where we can get from in the area. Thanks. Cool. |
I'm about to mention something that people do not like to hear because it's erroneously linked to uncleanliness or dirty surroundings. However, the linkage is false. So, here it is: Bed bugs Do these to look for it. 1. Put a light coloured bed sheet on your mum's bed and let her sleep on it (just to help you see the insect quicker than on a dark coloured sheet). 2. Put off the light when she goes to sleep. 3. About 3am, put on the light in the room and get powerful fluorescent lamps 4. Examine the bedsheet, the bed frame and the seams of the mattress for crawling insects which look like beans weevils. 5. If you see any, don't be afraid, they don't carry disease. Just take toilet roll and squeeze one of them. Blood will likely ooze out; just like from a mosquito. If this happens, the diagnosis is confirmed and we can discuss eradication. With bed bugs, itching occurs at night because that is when they feed and it's the human body reaction to the feeding that causes itching. Regards, Cool |
@ekanDamie: You're right on the description of what is required and it's preferable for it to be on the same side as Redeemed Camp. Thanks. Cool |
Rental property (a bungalow) is urgently required in Ibafo area of Ogun State, preferably on the side that's going outward from Lagos. It could also be a boys' quarters that's alone in the compound. Kindly drop your contacts if you know of any such property that's available for rent in the area. Thanks. Cool |
Growing up, I had several dogs but my two favourite were Pat and Jack. Jack was light brown and chubby. Pat, on the other hand, was black with distinctive dark brown marks and lean muscular. At night, Jack would sneak out through some gaps in the gate and when he returns in the early hours of the morning, he'd stay outside the gate and whine loudly until my dad goes to open the gate for him to enter. We never understood why he wouldn't just sneak back in the way he went out. Eventually, my dad closed up the gaps in the gate. Part of my fond memories of Jack. Later, my grandma took Jack and after a few years, she found him dead (killed) on the roadside. Suspected ritual killing. Oh, I was sad and angry. I cried quietly in my room for several days. Pat grew old and died peacefully. My parents had prepared me for her passage so, when we woke up one morning and she had died, I wasn't surprised but I still cried profusely and openly. My dad took her away for burial. I still miss Pat, even though she died a long time ago. |

A plot of land (or two) is required in Ikorodu area of Lagos State. Thanks. |
I passed by the gate of Nigeria Air Force Base at PWD in Lagos and witnessed a public display of unruly behaviour by Officers and Men of the Nigerrian Air Force. Time: 3:07pm Date: Yesterday, 27th August 2013 I was riding in a car that was going on the free highway, all vehicles were at good speed and suddenly, an airforce man in camouflage unform, brandishing a rifle, jumped into the road. A 4-lane road, in the blink of an eye, he was right in front of the car that was on my right. I was a bit confused and cars were swerving, trying to avoid him. Thankfully, all cars stopped without any accident. Then, the reason for the sudden 'madness' became evident... a convoy of four vehicles drove out of the barracks at top speed. There was a lead car, two Peugeot cars and a pick-up truck with registration number AF024E01 So, we all had to stop suddenly because the 'ogas' in Air Force wanted to get on a public road. A road that is neither within the barracks nor maintained by the airforce. Indeed, the lives of Nigerians were put at risk because some officers were on the move. What a public display of unruly behaviour and endangerment of Nigerian citizens by officers and men of the Nigerian Air Force. Furthermore, the rifle-brandishing airforce man with his colleagues at the gate decided to beat up a bus driver who was a bit slow in stopping. It was indeed, a shameful sight. Shame on you all who man the gate of the Air Force Base and also on you who ride in the Peugeot cars and allow such behaviour. Shame on you who are in administration in Nigerian Air Force and turn a blind eye to such an occurrence. |
gmyguy: probably because the medical fee is for the Canadian embassy and they are just retainers...just guessingNot likely but even if so, electronic payment models will do the job. |
gmyguy: if you have issues, why dont you report to the medical director, instead of coming online to vent your displeasure...this is quite timid...just walk up to the MD and complainI see the angle you're coming from and it might be valid in some scenarios. However, in this case, I doubt whether the Op saw anybody around that s/he felt had the aura of responsibility (I use the word 'responsibility' from a purely managerial perspective, no abuse intended). While I can neither affirm nor dispute what the Op has said because I've never been to the facility, the simple fact is that the Op has a negative perception of the facility based on today's experience. The onus now lies on the facility to work to correct this impression. So, whoever has any link with the facility can point the owners to this thread so that they can make necessary changes. Just a thought: Why should anyone need to go to a bank to pay for a medical test? Can a POS be used? What about web-based appointment scheduling, payment and receipt generation? |
Go to another hospital fast. There is absolutely no reason for you to still be having pain at the site of the operation. |
It is a common and serious drug reaction. Septrin belongs to the class of drugs known as sulphonamides. Some people have a tendency to react to these drugs. The 'interesting' thing is that the reaction can start at any time; even if you have used the drug for many years without such effect occurring. However, once it starts, the person has to be aware and careful not to use that class of drugs again because the drug effect tends to become worse with each occurrence. 'Tiny red flares' is minor. Another occurrence could be widespread blisters all over the body and the worst cases are burn-like reactions all over the body i.e. it would seem that the person had hot water poured all over his/her body. So, once such a drug reaction occurs, you are advised to discontinue use of that class of drugs FOREVER! 'Fansidar' also belongs in the class of drugs known as sulphonamides. So, since you have reacted to septrin, you need to avoid fansidar. Please contact your personal doctor for further guidance. |
Why cut cake inside cake box? |
..... What goes round comes around so, I'd like to know the approvals received for the release of these pictures. Where they released after approval from the parents or simply from the album of the doctor who took the pictures for her archives? ..... Just wondering about patients' rights. |
It's now one year and four months. With each day that passes, I realise even more, that I've lost an irreplaceable gem. The tears still flow but I'm okay with that. I just wish I could have my mum back. |
Web designers, Please reply to this post. Your website with a link to your portfolio will do for now. I expect a few other people might also be interested. Much thanks. Cool |
I want to put up a website that runs on Wordpress. I need someone who is very good with colours. Not because I want a colourful website but because I have a colour that relates to my brand and that needs to feature on the website; but most likely not in a dominating way. I have already short listed some templates but if we use a template as the framework, the person must be able to customise it for my use. My needs are simple but interesting. Please only respond if you have a portfolio I can review. Thanks. Cool |
I suggest that users should have an option to determine whether they only want to be contacted by people who are following them or they want to be able to receive PMs from anybody. Given the current structure of general collaboration on the forum, the current private messaging system seems suboptimal in its usefulness. Cool |
AFOLSNETWORKS: @ graphic plusHi. I'm completely new to webdesign etc. Infact, if you check my last few posts in this forum, you will realise how much of a newbie I am ![]() Preparatory to getting online, I've been reading up on things that are important. I'm therefore a bit 'worried' that you need to be specially encouraged to edit the alt values of the images on the website you're working on. Online visibility has everything to do with search engines. Why do you need special encouragement to work on that? If you don't make the alt values readable, the images mean nothing to the search engines and essentially play no part in getting visitors to the site. Please be encouraged and do it well! Kindly educate me if I'm getting it wrong; I'm here to learn from the experts. Cool |
I've heard it's possible to make moin-moin in the oven. Has anyone tried that? What's the trick please? Cool |
Adding my two cents. While not absolutely foolproof, it's possible to eliminate honey that's far-from-pure by just examining it through a see-through container. Pure honey is: 1. Thick 2. Has an obvious layer of thick-consistency wax on top of it. Cheers, Cool |
Thanks yawa-ti-de. Now I know I can have both in one package! |
