Collins was caught out of position twice. Got saved by Ejuke and Ajayi.

Ekong and Ajayi have done well in terms of ball distribution and also creating an extra man in midfield.

Sadiq obviously lacks confidence. He needs a psyche booster.

Iwobi is just magnificent with his passes. This guy has no business playing on the wings. Play him in the middle gaddammit angry . But I did love the connection between him and Ebuehi.

Iheanacho needs to play further up the pitch.

Sadiq and onuachu same whatsapp group
Yes they are quite similar when it comes to style of play but you see that pass that Sadiq failed to control? Onuachu had a similar pass from Onyekuru against Lesotho and he ended up firing it into the back of the net(with the outside of his boot). Wicked shot.

Onuachu is an excellent finisher.

I think the Super Eagles team is taking shape. One of the criticisms of Rohr was no clear playing pattern. I think we are getting there.

This leads me to Iwobi. Did not do much but I think we need to consider him as the ideal replacement for Aribo. I believe he is up to the task but the defensive coaching crew needs to get him up to speed with the defensive side of things. I feel if they get it right, Iwobi can play a big part in us winning this title.

Many things hinge on us getting things right on the tactical side of things.
Iwobi has always been perfect for counter attacking football. Just look at that run he made into the box. A simple cut back from Ejuke would have resulted in a similar goal he scored against Zambia.

Nigerians have no reason to hate in Dennis ,we should be sincere here

What social media handle ? Even before the issue self Dennis Instagram account comment section has limited since his club Brugge days

I didn’t say you criticized Awoniyi ,i meant since Dennis didn’t make it to the afcon you guys should enjoy awoniyi and co who made it there

Well Nigerians not forgiving players always ends inside their pockets

Concerning onuachu ,he is highly rated outside this thread .

Emmanuel Dennis did nothing ,Na una Dey prolong the matter

He didn’t make it to the afcon and nothing more than that ,did he miss an empty net ?

Same ighalo that easily returned back to the eagles ?

Enjoy awoniyi and co this afcon and leave Dennis alone
I don't understand this your statement.

Don't you know I've constantly defended Dennis on this thread? If he was loved by most Nigerians, would I have stressed myself in doing that?

If you think I'm prolonging the matter, just go to Dennis' social media handles and see what most Nigerians are telling him. Besides, I said 'might' and not 'will'.

Concerning Ighalo, don't you know he was invited in spite of what most Nigerians want? Do you think he would have been invited if most Nigerians had a say? I supported his call-up but as a substitute instead. I've also defended Ighalo on this thread.

And I never said their mistakes would prevent them from getting call-ups, I said MOST NIGERIANS WON'T FORGIVE THEM IRRESPECTIVE OF WHAT THEY DO and that's a fact. So many people still don't rate Onuachu despite his many achievements.

What are you even trying to insinuate by bringing up Awoniyi? Did you see me criticize him in any way? I don't understand you again ooo.

Players MOST NIGERIANS will never forgive no matter what they do (they'll find every excuse in their minds to denigrate and disqualify them but it all boils down to past mistakes or unwanted actions) :

1) Yakubu Aiyegbeni
2) Odion Ighalo
3) Victor Moses

So sad embarassed embarassed

Emmanuel Dennis might just make this list in the future.

What type of footballing inferiority complex is this ?

So because Algeria drew 0-0 against Sierra Leone then we should now justify rohr nonsense against Sierra Leone?

Should I remind you that Nigeria threw away a 4 goal lead ?
This Sierra L team managed to hold down two current African Giants(like people love to say) to disgraceful draws.

Show me where the inferiority complex is in realising that we probably doubted their ability and that they're actually stronger than we thought they are.

On a scale of percentages I'd say 90% of the time, European teams with their technical football always beat African teams with their emphasis on physicality. Brain over brawn. The willy fox outwits the lumbering cow

I watched highlights of Cameroun v. Italy in France 98 (after bazooka1 pointed out to me that Eto'o was at France 98). Italy hammer them 3-0. Yet if you see how rugged and imposing the Cameroonians were, you'd think they'd mash up the lean-looking Italians.
Yes of course, technical teams won't win everytime. No one does cheesy. Football is still a physical game but like my man Johan Cruyff would say :
You play football with your head and your legs are there to help you.

I will add the new under 21 players you see from the elite academies of Europe at least 75% will have both feet proficiency.

The only Centre forwards I know who shoot well with both feet are Kun Aguero, Harry Kane and maybe a Cristiano Ronaldo.

Another who is finally seeing the light. Is it not part of what I am trying to point to in every facet of our gameplay? This is part of the reason for my Midfield selections.

Brains over Brawn all day. Also, the right mix of both in a team gives that team a special kind of edge.

It's like having Alhassan Yusuf in person. Lad knows how to get dirty and throw himself into tackles and interceptions like a real work machine but lad is also one of the most technically proficient Midfield ballers you will find in Belgium today.

The best is always to have the mix of both worlds. That way you will have indomitable edge over an all brawns side and also a fine edge over an all-brains side.

Jogo Bonito laced with Gra Gra and Ginga. Sweetness mixed with toughness.
Finding that perfect mix is a very hard thing to do. Consistent gym work can be quite tasking but I actually feel that it's easier for a technical player to become stronger than it is for a very physical player to become smarter.

Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way.

Lukaku and Giroud are virtually two-footed. Haaland kinda is too. Every good striker reallly hasto be two-footed because situations arise where you have to convert with your supposed weak foot.
A tap in with your weak foot from about 6 yards to the the goal doesn't make you two footed. Can you take a 20 to 25 yards ACCURATE shot with that same weak foot? Very few strikers can do this.

You do not seem to get my argument. My point is why don't people also criticize players for being extremely right-footed like they do for left-footed players. I can count 10 players off the top of my head who can't do shit with their left foot but no one mentions this when discussing their weakness.
Being left footed is a gift. A very rare and precious gift. The only disadvantage is the coaches who want to convert almost every left footed player into a winger or fullback grin

Thank God we have the likes of Haaland, Lukaku, Giroud and Iheanacho.

" Edge over us " sir with the highly intelligent & open minded North Africans team why have they not qualify for quarter-finals at the World cup? What are the achievements of North African team at the World cup?
Be honest with yourself. If you were to pick between an Algeria and let's say a Ghana to win the World Cup in the next 10 years or so, who would you pick? Heck, even the Senegal that some football fans picked to win the AFCON, seem shaky.

We have nothing set up here in West Africa. Very little contributions to the development of grassroot football, poor football pitches, few tacticians, I could go on and on.

We are no longer the Giants we think we are and that's a sad reality.

North African teams have never been a problem for west African football, especially in the past 10 years... we thrash them.

But true, west African teams should adopt techniques to our play, we should be looking beyond Africa, ways to play and beat European and south American teams convincingly, heck, can we even beat Asian teams or Central American teams?

Why would a north Korea team be winning headers over a Senegalese team, if physicality was important?West Africans should develop our football to show reflect place and high pressing, with good intelligence, and the world cup would be in Africa, all this physicality we hype, long balls, gidibo is not useful in modern football.
Exactly. We're way beyond the period of gbas gbos football. Hit me I hit you. I go break ya leg today grin
Yes, physicality has its place. Even the so called fragile players still have some strength but the importance of technique cannot be overstated.

Football is a 'time-space' concept and whoever is wise enough to make appropriate use of that knowledge will always come out victorious.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by COOL10(m): 8:09pm On Jan 10, 2022
Technique over physicality anyday, anytime. This is why I don't support those who subscribe to the notion of choosing very physical players and dropping the less physical ones for the AFCON.

Until West African teams learn to incorporate the tenets of technical football into their style of play, the more fragile looking but highly intelligent and open minded North African teams will continue to have an edge over us.

Brains over Brawn cool
