Most modern cars requires you driving them quite regularly and also for considerable distance and amount of time.
In fact, once a while, take them for a very long spirited drive.

This is to de-carbonize the engine, allow fuel pressure dislodge dirts in the fuel lines and systems, lubricate moving parts and also completely warm up the engine and transmission and differential and others for longevity purpose.

Thanks for the comment. Just a clarification though, i am not a travelling person as i hardly go out of Lagos like that, but to carryout the above, can i drive it to work once or twice a week.

i bought this 2010 Benz GL450 4matic in February this year from another user. The former owner used to drive it to work everyday (less than 5km) and do other errands (picking up of his kids from school and travelling).

however, when ownership was transferred to me, i decided to make it an occasional vehicle i.e. parties and church which is only on weekends just to reduce the cost of fueling and maintenance.

But i met someone (a benz user) who advised against such practice that Benz are like planes designed to be driven everyday and not parked for long. Is this assertion true?

Also, is my current practice of not driving it everyday bad for the car? What are the risks involved?

Those condemning JP shows lack of knowledge about NSE. If truly they understand, they will know that the shares is destined for upside. All things being equal, the shares might even close the week on full bid. We will continue to watch and allow Mr. Market do its thing.

I can remember this post made in response to someone here on March 28.
Nestle sold down to 650 or thereabout around that time.
2weeks gone with Nestle on full bid even at over N1000, no one is willing to sell.
Prof and few other ogas here doubted this, maybe because I'm not a guru or chartist.

Bro,

Dow at 26K.

NASDAQ has made a V-shaped recovery.

Tested the NYSE/NASDAQ waters yesterday for the first time and was a great feeling. I realize that its a market that is, of course deeper than nse and money could be lost or made within a blink of an eye. Based on financial management theory, I will say their market is an Efficient market where prices quickly reflect information about company performance, industry news and economic situation as Investors don't waste time reacting to such news in that clime... grin

However, i was shocked when a share that traded below $1 suddenly rose to almost $20 yesterday. I was stunned wondering why a stock will amass such crazy gain in a day. Anyways, i am gradually settling down to better understand the market more.

MTN is a good stock, what will you do if the stock does not appreciate by December?

I started buying MTN at N94 and stopped buying at N105.

Don’t worry I will join you in the bus when it comes to pick more passengers.

I do not blame myself for stocks that I will not buy. Neimeth fundamentally is not a sound stock but on NSE, sound stocks sometimes do not quickly make money for someone.

This is not strange and not a new thing. Government parastatals in the oil and gas sector earn way way above their counterparts in MDAs.

They and NAPIMS/NNPC are the big boys of public service who enjoy fat pay check and allowances at month end.

However, they deserve to be well paid in order to match what their counterparts in the O&G companies they regulate and work with earn so as to prevent compromise on the job and unethical practices e.g connivance with operators to defraud government.

In short, the huge pay package is justified.

I doubt if they will just print Naira. Economists surrounding the president will not allow that. So count that out as a possibility. Instead the country will continue to borrow and the citizens will hear weeeeeen!

....that may be escape root since they always boast that our debt to gdp is the lowest in Africa.... grin They will continue to borrow until creditors put for sale on the country.... grin

Countries default on their own currency. Though it is usually rare but it does happen.

Argentina in 2001.
Venezuela in 1998
Russia in 1998
Ukraine in 1998
Ecuador in 1999
Jamaica in 2010 and 2013.

grin grin

Thanks for the input. You know people get carried away by the fact that its government, so default risk is zero forgetting that our economy which is heavily driven and dependent on export of primary commodity does not support such assertion.

Let him that has ear let him hear.

Dear INVESTORS in the house please when is the best time to buy and sell stocks in other to make profit and how long can we keep the stock after buying.

please i need everyone's professional advice in this regards

Best time as you have missed the march entry is to wait till October to cherry pick good stocks like zenith, gtb, nestle, access, uba, dangote cement, wapco, mtn at bargain prices ahead of earning season. However, if you are a long term investor, that is you plan to hold for 5years in return for yearly dividend, you can buy any of the ones i have mentioned now.

Govt cannot default on Naira denominated instruments. They will simply print more money. Default can be on the Foreign currency instruments like Eurobond, as they have no control over those currencies (they need to earn it as against printing it).

Printing money as logical as it may sound comes with grievous economic and financial implications for the government. It simply gives government security bad rating, causes panic, and discourages investors to hold such investment. The other implications that come with QE for such an unproductive and debilitating economy like ours will further send it into comatose and possibly nail it to the coffin.

This will apply to those on appropriation and FG budget.

Some parastatals and Agencies are self funding and MAY not be affected.

All government agencies and parastatals will be affected whether they are self-funding or subvention-backed.
