MrKnowitall: Good question.
But before you ask why the richest man in Africa is not investing in the Southeast region, you must first ask why southeastern people are not investing in their own region. When you get the answer to that question, you will automatically know the answer to your Dangote question. Exactly......even a 12 yr old boy in iboe land is planning......how to run away to shagamu to sell gala...on d road... ...dangote no be muumuu o... |

Politics › Re: Why Has Ezekwezili Not Denounce Time Magazine's List Of 100 Influential Persons by coolitempa(f): 4:26pm On Apr 17, 2015 |
Idokojimmy: When I read the names published by Times Magazine on the list of 100 most influential persons on earth, with Oby EZEKWESILI featuring along with Abubakar Shekau, I was full of expectations that Madam Oby would, in a moral fashion dissociate herself from the Magazine particularly because of her campaign against boko haram and her commendable quest for the release of the abducted Chibok school girls.
Although, the Magazine claims that the list considers the activities of the nominees irrespective of their consequences, one expects them to sustain existing practice where Terrorist elements, instead of making the list of most influential persons are given the RED X COVER PAGE as in the case of Osama Bin Laden, Adolf Hitler and AL-Zarqawi. Recall that Bin Laden and Al-Zarqawi were all given the RED X for their terrorist acts. The later was specifically described by the US as the scourge of IRAQ in 2006 before he was featured by the Magazine as the RED X. He was eventually killed by US airstrike.
rather than give Shekau the RED X for his heinous activities, the Magazine appears to be celebrating an individual that pose grave danger to our national security. The Magazine has forgotten how many thousand souls have been killed, maimed, abducted and displaced bu these criminals.
As a moral being, the list is a litmus test for the sincerity of Bring Back Our Girls Campaign. The campaign has built a new image for OBY. I expect her to do something and send a strong signal to those celebrating terrorism. But if she savours the list, we shall continue to watch, pray and decide. go find work do....jobless rat.... |

Destined2win: Hello My brothers, greetings to you all. I have been on this nairaland for quite some time and have seen the verbal vituperations of individuals on here which basically represent a chunk of the mindset of those that are not here. The Igbos have a domineering spirit which helps them conquer even a barren land, and I think this is divinely gifted. But only an unreal man would think that everybody is happy with his success.
I have come to see that in Nigeria, tribalism is a cankerworm, and it will need just a little more than a miracle to conquer that, but we can on our own part play the unity game well. For instance, I was promoted in the office, and it so happened that I had to work with people from another tribe. Oh my! You needed to see gang up. Even people who didn’t work in that office were warning me about them including somebody from that tribe. What did I do?
They complain ‘say I dey carry work for head’, because I try to work and prove a point. In a few weeks, all what it took them years to know and the ones they didn’t know, I was learning them so fast! They resorted to tarnishing my image, but who cares.
People will call you names but make sure you are not what they call you! I conquered them by being myself and even extending a hand of friendship by freeing my mind from hate and envy which is an excuse for mediocrity and the spirit of enterprise! The Igbo spirit is the spirit of a conqueror! But it is unfortunate that some Nigerians from other parts of the country misunderstand this fact and I’m sure that perception will not change anytime soon.
Now, what is the way forward?
It is no gainsaying that the Eastern parts of the Niger and SS have a large chunk of the most arable lands in Nigeria. There is nothing that can make a nation flourish that you won’t find there. Our spirit of enterprise and our inherent sense of ‘one world’ is the reason why we go to any part of the world and establish phenomenally, but I guess it’s time to put a check to that ‘sense’.
Travel, explore, establish, but at home first! If you want to build a 3-storey building in Lagos, make sure you have 2 sky scrapers somewhere in the east. You want to open a company, ensure that your administrative headquarters and core assets are in the east while outlets are in any other places. Whatever you do, think home first. That should be your mentality henceforth.
No amount of hatred, verbal bashing, or attacks can extinguish the enterprising and domineering spirit of an Igbo Man, and I know the best of that spirit is yet unseen. I wish every Nigerian goodluck and until we begin to appreciate the peculiarities of a particular people and strive to live in peace with them, the term, “one Nigeria” might worsen and split.
But remember HOME FIRST! If we reciprocate the rate at which we invest in other lands to our own lands, in the next ten years, the eastern part of Nigeria will be fastest growing region in the world!
LET’S MAKE IT A PROJECT! I am in agreement with this project.....pls make it fast...n.. just back...the rest of 9jeria is tired of u... |

EUROBOMBER: The bold part is true, I agree with you. A lot has to be done to check this. The problem with my people is that they don't like to hear the truth, when you point out certain facts to them they shout you down and call you all sorts of names. Some even called me a Yoruba boy recently.
Life is not all about shouting and anger; it could be much better. I think a lot of people are still very bitter because of the civil war. i myself get sad sometimes when I think read those books and all that but we must move ahead. there is nothing we can do about yesterday but we have today and the future ahead of us. You cannot move forward when you are weighed down by bitterness and hate. Not all of us are like this though but I pray that the majority of the bitter ones find the will and strength to come out of it. well said.... ......but it is too late already.....now d man even on d streets know.....the writer is married to a Yoruba man n she also knows what is happening .......ibos need to understand that yorubas are different in many ways......the actions ibos have been taking means a lot.....yorubas r not going to act immediately n rashly like ibos do.....but swiftly n gradually grade them down... ....my yorubas brodas ....pls don't be angry with me for exposing us....I am just trying to salvage what is still possible o.....we know that ibos r emotional n surface people......let us hope something can still be done... |
