cheruv:Your statement presupposes that I find fulfillment with my ethnic or national identity in low conflicts with other ethnic groups. Low thinkers like you cannot understand the full scope of the retardedness of the scope of your thoughts, just as monkeys cannot understand why we humans refuse to go naked. ~South-South voice. When I feel insulted by statements like this, it is not the statement itself that annoys me. It is because I know the person making the statement is making a dumb attempt to draw me into some kind of ethnic/tribal exchange. Now it may be alright to want to draw one into some kind of argument, but why with such a USELESS BAIT?! keep on waiting |

PastorPLC:It is not about the Igbos not voting Jonathan or not. It is about them overhauling the face of their diplomacy. Diplomatically, the igbos are a mess. It is about the Igbo completely putting an end to such misdemeanors as venturing to claim that other people's ancient territory is actually no man's land (Lagos) in a bid to sneakily claim ownership. Igbos must stop this because other people and territories observe this and form an opinion about them. It is about Igbos repenting of calling the people in the host communities in which they stay lazy just because it appeals to them. When you do this, everyone else sees and you score a diplomatic blow against yourself. It is about displaying socio-cultural decorum by respecting other people's culture and tradition, remembering that the igbo race never organized themselves culturally into one soci-cultural political body. Whenever you do this, people with more anciently well established socio-cultural political histories may or may not keep their reservations but they consider you the same way as they consider a flat rear ended woman criticizing other women of being flat. In short, if it is clear to you that you are not going to grow in a society by warfare, then your diplomatic strategy must be right. |

Considering the fact that Gov. Amaechi was fully in the mix of the Rivers State's govt's activities when it was recruiting cultists under Dr. P Odili, I fear that as Amaechi is not on a run of desperation, he will empower these same kinds of people he has helped empower in the past. It is the cultists of the Odili Administration that ended up becoming militants and hurting the state. Port Harcourt has not fully recovered since. For e.g, important operations of the British council have been moved to Lagos after an encounter by PH British council staff and kidnappers. This happened years ago during the days of militancy and the British council's decision has not been reverted up till today. The people of the state have to go all the way to Lagos for things they easily obtained in Port-Harcourt before the incident. I fear that we may have more young miscreants, empowered by our govnr on account of the election season, leaving us with increased cases of robbery/kidnappings afterwards. |

I have sometimes felt referring to another as "baby" had a slight derogatory hue to it. I would like the ladies to say when they like to be called "baby" and when they would take objection and why. I'm only curious. |

This is just a dishonourable attempt at divisiveness by a leader who should play a leading role in fostering unity in our country. GEJ never said the Hausa man was the south-south's or anybody's enemy. That event, is a product of the imagination (more like wish) of the man suggesting it happened. If Amaechi is asked to substantiate when, where or in what forum GEJ told any people in Nigeria that the north was their enemy it will be interesting to know what his substantiation will be. |
Please, good people of Rivers State. If anyone knows, tell us the name of the person who it was public knowledge, was responsible for organizing the cult boys (who ended up becoming militants) for Dr. Peter Odili who in turn, later appointed one of them CSO (Chief Security Officer) of the state. |

emmanuel4758: We all know that the state boundries in Nigeria do not fully correspond with ethnic boundries. While I do not know where Okpanam is, I do know that some igbos are found in delta state (delta igbos). An example of this can be seen in the case of the people of Umuezeokoha community, who happen to have been carved into Benue State (instead of Ebonyi state) when they are clearly Igbos. You cannot call them Middlebelters on account of their being grouped into Benue state. Can you claim that Igbos are middle-belters simply because Umuezeokoha was carved into Benue state during state creation? In the same same vein, there are communities in Northern Rivers State, who by their culture and language, are Igbo. These people are the Omuma people and the Etche people. Also, parts of Ikwere (not all) seem to be igbo related. In human categorization, where two different categories meet, there is often a blurring of the lines at the boundry until there is a complete difference further down. Will you claim that Igbos are south-southerners because Omuma and Etche were carved into Rivers state during state creation? Have you heard of Akoko Edo (Western Edo state)? The people there are Yorubas. Do you see the Yorubas confusedly trying to claim to be south-south? ~ South-South voice |

pazienza: Igbos are not part of the south-south. Members of the south -south have been highly organised from centuries ago. Igbos on the other hand, have never been organized from time immemorial. For eg, before the white man, there was never an organised political body referred to as the igbo nation and this is because even the igbos did not know the geographical boundries of their ethnic group. This is because they could only politically organize themselves into villages and clans. That is why they knew the boundries of villages and clans. That is the highest level of civilization the igbos have historically had. This is the reason why you never heard of the igbo-efik or igbo-tiv wars. The igbo militiary machine never existed because that political unit did not emerge. Instead you hear historically, of inter-clan wars (between igbos). This is the historical height of the igbo's ability to organise himself into a political unit. Most other ethnic groups in the south-south however, historically have well structured governments. They have written history because they learnt to read and write on time. Chieftaincy titles are not invented at will because the stools remain the ancient ones that existed hundreds of years ago. Besides all these, the people of the south-south are so referred to because they occupy the geographical south-south region of Nigeria.. I think it is the lack of deep rooted cultural heritage (in terms of organization) that causes the igbo man to make a cultural nuisance of himself, dreaming under the influence of indiscipline and ignorance that the more advanced south-southerners will disappear into them. The same nuisance can be observed when under the influence of something we really can't explain, they without shame, have boldly said that the ancient yoruba lands of lagos belong to nobody (in a bid to lay thieving fingers on it). The only way to treat such disrespectful behaviour is to give it to the igbo man as it is and remind him that there are efiks, ibibios, tivs, urhobos, etc in lagos and other parts of the country, but he is the only one making a nuisance of himself this way. Now, if you want by any means to become part of the south-south, we collectively refuse and reject you. It is so now, It will always be so. We know who you are. We know how you are. We see how you misbehave in Lagos, disrespecting your hosts. We are not the only ones that see. Other Nigerians in other parts of Nigeria also take note. The best Nigeria will ever give you is offer you Biafra on a platter (if that will ever happen) so the five igbo states can finally be their own country for good. But to better understand yourself as an Igbo man, please read the thread https://www.nairaland.com/1966541/igbo-nation It dives into the root cause of the misdemeanours confidently displayed by the igbo sect of people in Nigeria. ~ South-South voice |
