The new companies say they underestimated the mess the distribution network was.

[size=13pt]The first Executive president of Nigeria Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari has broken his silence after 32years of overthrown by General Mohammadu Buhari

This are what he said to AIT news reporter in Sokoto state yesterday and i humbly quote

"Jonathan may not be the best, but I can mention 3 to 4 breakthrough in Nigeria that occurred under his regime.

Under this administration, train is now back in Nigeria after about 30yrs of neglect (infact, my 27years old grandchild boarded train for the first time in his life in 2014)

First Government to construct modern Amajiri schools & 12 Universities.

First Government to construct cargo Airports & ensure all zone in Nigeria has an Int'l airport.

First Government to eradicate the high level corruption in the distribution of fertiliser.

And the very first Government to start diversifying Nigeria economy back to agric after Nigeria lost its agricultural glory in the 70s.

Now I ask, what are Buhari DEVELOPMENTAL strides as HEAD OF STATE? "

Politics › A Closer Look At The Buhari Aressts by coolscott(op): 8:10am On Jan 18, 2015
Fellow Nigerians,
1. Buhari killed Ben ogedengbe by a death penalty for a crime that didn't carry death penalty when he committed it.

2. Buhari doesn't attend the Federal Council meetings yet collects his allowances. Mr. Integrity indeed.

3. Buhari canceled former Governor Jakande's metroline and forfeited the $50 million paid for it by the then Lagos State Government

4 Buhari used Violence to stop the September 1985 National Conference of the National AssociatIon of Nigeria Students.

5. Buhari jailed Tai Solarin and denied him his asthma drugs simply because he campaigned against military rule and for democracy.

6. Buhari Jailed Nduka irabor and Tunde Thompson for writing a truthful report which embarrassed his Government

7. Buhari raided respected Papa Awolowo's house and seized his passport so he couldn't travel out of the country. Was he also corrupt?

8.Buhari threw Former vice President Alex Ekweme in jail even though it was proven that Ekweme never stole any money.

9. He jailed honest and respected pa Adekunle Ajasin.

10. He jailed Fela Kuti in I984 for singing against the dictatorial tendencies of his Military Government

11 Doctors, remember that Buhari banned the Nigeria medical Association (NMA)

12. Buhari stopped Ooni of Ife for traveling abroad simply because he visited the holy land of Israel in 1984

13. He broke up press conference of ASSU in 1984 and detained four of their executives

14 He jailed Beko Ransome Kuti who only demanded for the release of his brother.

15 He jailed Dr. Sam Onunaka Mbakwe.

16 He jailed Awwal Ibrahim now the Emir of Niger State before IBB pushed him aside.

Nigerians must be careful with what they wish for!

Please share this post to keep Nigeria democratic and free from oppression.
Politics › 9 Things Nigerians Didn't Know About President Goodluck Jonathan And Corruption by coolscott(op): 12:24am On Jan 18, 2015
1. He revived the integrated payroll and personal information system "IPPIS" in order to eliminate major avenues of corruption in the public sector.

2. He approved the sack of a judge, who upheld the results of a fraudulent election in Osun state, even though the judge's decision was in favour of his own party, the PDP.

3. He will not abuse his powers in order to appear tough on corruption. Jonathan believes that, following due process while fighting corruption strengthens our institutions.

4. With smart tweaks to administration (combined with the use of technology) he has decimated almost 4 decades of fertilizer subsidy fraud, saving N50 Billion in a single year.

5. Project "Aquilla" implemented under President Jonathan has helped reduce up to 20 million litres a day in "PMS" subsidy fraud by using technology to track the movement of petroleum products around Nigeria.

6. He granted the 'EFCC' independence from the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, in order to pursue corruption in the public sector without interference.

7. He approved the compulsory retirement of a judge who dismissed a grievous corruption case against a bank CEO, before taking the defendant's plea.

8. He has choosen to fight corruption with good strategies and diligence, and not brute force.

9. President Jonathan doesn't like to show-off because there's still alot more work to be done.

Be rest assured, President Jonathan is winning the war against corruption..... SAI Goodluck.
Politics › Re: Please Circulate Until It Gets To The Remotest Voter In Nigeria!!!! by coolscott(m): 2:35am On Jan 17, 2015
Religion is not the thing for me.

The support for Buhari quite frankly doesn't come close to smart in my view.

1. I seriously doubt Buhari is the same kind of man he was in 1984

2. He cannot fight corruption the way he did in in 1984 because then, the military had absolute powers and those could be used in the fight against corruption. Now with separation of powers in a democracy, it is the judiciary that has the power to find anyone guilty. We know how slow the judicial process is in Nigeria and how corrupt. Ibori was cleared of all charges against him here in Nigeria but plead guilty to all charges leveled against him in the UK

3. He doesn't discourage the violence perpetuated by his zealous supporters. I think this is because he believes he needs all the leverage he can get in order to get into power.

4. Recounting how many years the PDP has been in power is simply does not rise above expressing resentment at having a clique of pple in power and we know that that is the way it is in politics. Parties are cliques. When they are in power, they are in power.

5. Buhari will not go after corrupt politicians. He swims with a crowd of corrupt Nigerians. How can I believe he wants to, or is going to get all of them down? How is he going to go after all the corrupt politicians in his party and in the PDP? It is a losing battle from the start.

6. In any case, APC chairman, Ayegun, has already said Buhari won't go after past leaders, and that the idea is spun out of PDP blackmail efforts.

7. Anyone who embraces the political filth that is with Gov. Amaechi and talks about fighting corruption like Buhari should be looked upon again (with some scrutiny). Ameachi is so disgraceful, unintelligently corrupt, and self-serving that the National APC cannot recover from damage they did to themselves in Rivers State by making Amaechi their entry point. Amongst other poorly handled projects, Rivers State has a 150 billion naira monorail project that covers only a =N=50 distance by bus or by taxi. It is there for everyone to see.
The man responsible for that =N=150 billion waste is actually the campaign manager of Gen. Buhari.

8. I will come back and post the video of Buhari encouraging northern youths to kill and be violent

This man is not the man we have known him to be in the 80s
He is a totally different man seemingly insatiable thirsty for one thing - power.

He, however, accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP of blasphemy, following comments from the presidency describing President Goodluck Jonathan as Jesus Christ.

Oyegun who spoke to newsmen in Benin City, Monday, said that the insinuation that a Buhari presidency will send many Nigerians to jail, was a blackmail being masterminded by the PDP leadership, stressing that only those who may not want to change from their corrupt practices will have the retired General to contend with.

“The only people I think should fear the Buhari Presidency are those who do not want change. Those who want to continue with business as usual, are those who want to continue to profit from the level of corruption in the society. We will have no apologies for people like that. But it is clear that from the Buhari perspective and that of the APC, the future of the people of this country is too important for us to spend valuable time trying to dig into the past.

Well... the brigadier said he had seen records of older and retired generals and that he was in no doubt that general Buhari's were in tact.
He actually did not say he had seen Buhari's records. So we really are at the same place we were before (with claims that his records exist but no one actually seeing it).
So the Brigadier just retold the problem. Everyone's records are supposed to be there and that is the reason why he saw records of older and retired generals

But if you ask me, going by what I have seen in Nigerian public institutions, it is also possible someone misplaced it some time ago. It still doesn't change the fact that we need to see the records records

Why doesn't the police nip mob violence in the bud?
Why has pre-boko-haram violence in the north not been nipped in the bud by the administrations before this one?
Clearly, the dynamics of quelling mass, popular and cultural violence are not the same as nipping other kinds of violence in the bud. And this is the kind of violence the general subtly, mischievously (and quite frankly, irresponsibly) stokes.

Politics › Remember When APC Leaders Where Unhappy With Buhari by coolscott(op): 3:58am On Jan 03, 2015
I found this thread on Nairaland about APC leaders unhappy with Buhari's statements not so long ago

LEADERS of the yet to be registered opposition alliance party, All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed anger at the statements credited to former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, which indicated that the declaration of a state of emergency in three states of the North was anti-North.

Buhari had been quoted as saying in a programme on a Kaduna-based FM station that the declaration of a state of emergency in the three states of the North was anti-North and that he does not support President Goodluck Jonathan’s tactics on dealing with insurgency.

He also claimed that the government was being high-handed on the insurgents operating in parts of Northern Nigeria, adding that when militancy happened in the South South, the Federal Government invited the perpetrators and granted them amnesty.

But leaders of the mega party, who have dissected Buhari’s statements were said to have expressed surprise at the claims by the former Head of state.

One of the leaders said that such a statement would only further alienate members of the emerging mega party, the APC from Buhari.

“Already, many people are saying that Buhari should not be used as the candidate of the party in the 2015 election, such a statement is capable of portraying him (Buhari) as someone who does not believe in the unity of Nigeria and it could negatively impact on the party.

“What we expect from Buhari are statements that would portray him as a statesman, not as a sectional leader. He as a former Head of State should be talking for Nigeria and not for a part thereof. Anything to the contrary will open him to undue scrutiny,” the source said.

Leaders of the APC were said to have criticized Buhari’s comments as off the mark.

A source said that the development has reinforced the resolve of the APC to field a younger presidential candidate in 2015 adding that when the time comes, Buhari would be told to hands off the presidential race.

Na wa for some people o! Just because of your support for a person for reasons best known to you, you have decided not to even inquire into obvious legality issues! The law stipulates basic qualifications for certain positions; INEC as electoral umpire has the power to examine these and they must be originals, certified true copies or affidavits of whatever their status is, which must be true and in line with common sense. Those of you asking for photocopies, in your various plces of work or schools, did u present only photocopies? Did you not bring originals for sighting and did your original documents not remain in your possession? How then can someone say his original credentials are in the possession of his former employer and it is accepted by some hook, line and sinker? Where then is our patriotism? By our votes, we are the employers of whoever occupies any elective office and as an employer or as employers, there are basic standards which applicants must meet! Will you run your office or organization on sentiments? So why attempt to run Nigeria that way? Notwithstanding the corruption and poor performance of past leaders, if there must be change the basic foundation has to be in place upon which to build! How can people then blatantly ask for a waiver of constitutional provisions because GMB is involved? Is he above the law? This is a verifiable issue so it should be dealt with accordingly!

When people say PDP and GEJ are behind the current saga, the bottom line should be: Has there been a contravention of the law in this regard? A person cannot be blackmailed unless he actually has something to hide or be ashamed of! The law may appear to be applied selectively but it remains the law! It would have been a problem if the PDP aspirants were exempt form these educational requirements but that is not the case so why cry foul?
Nicely put.

Politics › Alleged Marginalisation Of Ndigbo In Lagos: What Does Udeogaranya Really Want? by coolscott(op): 10:54pm On Dec 31, 2014
I have never met Chief Udo Udeogaranya all my life but the allegation of marginalisation of Ndigbo in Lagos recently made by Udeoaranya, who leads the Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria, is quite amusing.

I’m simply amused because I live in Lagos and know quite well how accommodating the Government in that state really is to all residents irrespective of tribe or religion. Though I’m an apolitical person, I’m quite aware of the uncommon gestures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Administration in the state towards Ndigbo and I’m in a better position to ask our dear Chief what else does he really want.

But as the countdown to the February 2015 general elections begins in earnest, I’m not surprised at Udeogaranya’s allegation as it is just the beginning of many more to follow. There is no doubt that many people would want to play to make spurious allegations just to score some political goals but care should be taken when making unsubstantiated allegations.

PassingShot:
Turning to the presidential contest, Tinubu disclosed that he does not like President Obasanjo because he contributed to the end of democracy in Nigeria during his tenure as a military president and is now benefiting from that history.

That said, Tinubu admitted that he and his party, the Alliance for Democracy, must support Obasanjo. Southwest Nigeria is Yoruba land and the President is Yoruba. Tinubu"s party had no choice since it has not fielded a presidential candidate. Moreover, Obasanjo is the only
candidate who stands a chance of blocking his rival, General Muhammadu Buhari, whose ethnocentrism would jeopardize Nigeria"s national unity.

Buhari and his ilk are agents of destabilization who would be far worse than Obasanjo. Tinubu and many other governors are therefore implementing a strategy to re-elect Obasanjo, partly in an effort to prevent Sharia from spreading. Tinubu predicted that the President will follow his own course, if re-elected, since he will not need as many friends the second time around.
PassingShot:
The same Tinubu you guys love to hate is the person you quote for support? Shame no dey catch una?

Anyway, he could have said anything at any point in time to justify his position then. Remember this was in 2003 and that's a whole 11 years ago! Haba Jonathanians!

And now that he has realized differently, it means he was wrong in his belief initially then.

GMB 2015
Well, if Tinubu is now supporting Buhari, it is because now, he either supports Buhari's extremism, or does not really care anymore. How do we know this? We know this because there is not much to indicate that Buhari's position has changed. Just last year, when Nig. declared war on Boko haram, he said a war on Boko Haram is a war on the North

I see that you do not know that in the most successful Muslim countries of the world, although naturaly their ways and laws are influenced by Islam, there is a zero tolerance for sharia law.

Now you go to dubai and keep proclaiming in the broad daylight in a busy Deira area how sharia must be implemented and see what happens to you.

Now the countries on this planet where there are people trying to implement sharia law are

1. Somalia

2. Iraq

3. Yemen

4. Syria.

5. Afghanistan.

And all these countries are either in a big mess or are struggling with the trouble.

So is it not the height of the flight of intelligence for someone who like Buhari to wish that for his country and openly proclaim that that is what he wants?

If he wants Islam to be spread across the country, it is tolerable. It is his religion and down to the southern most part of Nigeria, there are practicing muslims (as there are practicing christians in the northern most parts of the country).

But the general apparently has been caught in the folly that has spread now amongst the less honourable muslims around the world today and specifically seeks for sharia, not just islam, to be spread across Nigeria.

Just thinking about the large numbers of people that arguably the most powerful muslim country, Turkey, had to kill in order to stamp out sharia and make their muslim country governed by secular law rather than medieval sharia law annoys me that someone of Buhari's calibre is so uninformed to the extent that he says he wishes sharia for Nigeria.

The death penalty is metted out in countries around the world for various reasons. How does the death penalty translate into meaning that the country implements sharia law?

China will more readily sentence a person to death for certain criminal offences than the US would. How come these two countries are not sharia countries?

Even in the most prosperous Muslim countries they do not cut peoples' hands when they are caught stealing.
Dubai doesn't do that.
Malaysia doesn't do that.
If there is any muslim country in shambles it is because the extremists are fighting to implement that strict islamic code.
