Politics › Re: Obasanjo Blackmailing President Elect- Senator Rowland Owie by cooluc(f): 2:27pm On May 18, 2015 |
BeeBeeOoh: FROM JULIANA TAIWO-OBALONYE, ABUJA
A former member of National Assembly, Senator Rowland Owie, has described ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s Think-tank report as a document of blackmail for the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari,
In a statement issued in Abuja, Owie, who is also a former Chief Whip of the Senate, asked: ”How can Obasanjo be preparing a blueprint for Buhari? A Bini parable says, “how can an impotent man get medicine for his brother, who suffers weak erection”?
The Niger Delta ex-senator was disappointed that the in-coming Buhari administration is in romance with Obasanjo, saying, “Obasanjo will tell the world that the solutions he prescribed for fixing Nigeria were ignored.”
He said: “I just read Obasanjo think-tank has submitted a blueprint to Buhari. Blue what?
“I am shocked that great Nigerians of the likes of Prof. Akin Mabogunje, Dr. Idika Kalu and Dr. Christopher Kolade were involved. That Obasanjo is linked to the blue-print, it will be a document of blackmail to Buhari very soon.
“Wonders will never end! How can Obasanjo who allegedly wasted eight years in government pursuing perceived enemies, and tried to ruin the legislative and judiciary arms of government in Nigeria; wasted $16 billion on power and not a single kilowatt of energy was produced, destroyed Aladja Steel, Itakpe Steel, Ajaokuta Steel, NITEL, just to mention a few FGN parastatals, now begin to advise Buhari?
“How can Obasanjo, whose government received, in one year, a revenue equivalent of the total revenue that IBB regime received in eight years, yet, nothing to show for it, be handing over blue-print to the in-coming administration?
“While there are great legacies left behind by IBB, but Nigerians can’t find any useful legacies by a government that received the highest revenue, since the amalgamation of Nigeria.
“The legacies left behind by Obasanjo are allegedly hate, divisiveness, Zaki- Ibiam and Odi destruction, impunity in government business and the business of the PDP that was put together by well-meaning people, including my humble self, when he, Obasanjo, was in prison,” Sen. Owie said.
Owie also revealed that “the present state of PDP was created by Obasanjo when the late SB Awoniyi was rigged out in 2000 at Eagle Square and another attempt to rebuild the party through Chief Audu Ogbeh was frustrated when Ogbeh was forced to resign as PDP chairman.
“We thank God that now that Obasanjo has left the PDP, we can rebuild the party. Has Obasanjo not seen now the major achievements of Yar’Adua-Jonathan government within a short time,”? he asked.

Christianity Etc › Re: This Madness On Marriage Has Got To Stop In The Church. by cooluc(f): 12:26pm On May 17, 2015 |
[quote author=VOICEOFTHEMASES post=33815745]Seriously this madness going on in the church has got to stop. What are we Nigerians turning the body of Christ into?
Why on earth will a Pentecostal Church not let its members to marry a Catholic person. The moment a wedding announcement is made in the church and one of the member is from a different church denomination, you start hearing murmuring going on. Seriously this rubbish has got to stop.
Look at a church like Jehovah witness, there is nothing on earth that will make them marry an outsider, never. The same thing with Deeper Life yet these same people want to come preach for you. Seriously, we have got to stop all this.
In the book of 1 Corinthians 12:27 & Romans 12:5, the bible talked about we being the body of Christ. So it is an error for any pastor to tell any member of his denomination not to marry an outsider. We must put an end to this madness for there is no where in the bible that says a person cannot marry outside his or her church. The bible never talked about denomination, the bible only talked about the church as the body of Christ.
And to you out there that wants to get married and you are letting this issue of church stop you, I sorry for you because you be original mumu.
In case you don't know, God will not judge you on judgement day based on the church you attended but he will judge you based on your works. So don't let anybody deceive you in the name of religion. Christianity is not a religion but a way of life.
So dear pastors make una talk the one una see.
VOM[/quote How about religious groups with questionable doctrines, the parents might even be the ones to oppose not the church. |

msmon: Why do ladies often abuse, name-call or even curse a guy after a call?
It's a common act amongst ladies that they call suitors several kind of name after a call which I find very appalling.
I was at the motor park yesterday afternoon when a lady (she's not so beautiful ooo) received a call, she turned to her friend immediately after the call and said 'oloriburuku yen lo tun pemi yen ooo (that unfortunate guy called again)'. They didn't stop there, they both started calling and describing that guy with several names...
...and it something I have noticed about ladies overtime.
I hope one lady will have the audacity to tell us the rational behind this act. You have a point tho.... but u missed it by grouping all ladies into dat...and besides there could more to what you heard except u've had other case scenarios to warrant your hypothesis |

Christianity Etc › Re: 5 Ways Nigerian Churches Drive Youths Away by cooluc(f): 8:21am On Apr 26, 2015 |
AllNaijaBlogger: Anyone that has had to take care of teenagers or young people in general knows that it is a very tedious task that requires patience and understanding. If a parent or guardian can’t relate to young people in terms of the prevalent youth culture at the time, the parent/guardian would face a great deal of frustration in directing most youths towards a moral path in life. What compounds this issue is that the internet and modern mass media have given young people so much information and opportunities such that parent/guardians can not keep up with their (the youth) thinking.
This is also a problem for many churches as they are not keeping up with the needs of the youth of today. To lose the interest of the youth is to lose the future of the church and below, are five ways churches of today in Nigeria tend to drive these youths away from the house of God-
1) Ageism (adultism) and disrespect towards younger people by church staff From experience, I can say comfortably that Nigerian culture permeates Nigerian churches, and deeply rooted within Nigerian culture is adultocracy, in which the respect of the elderly and adults are prioritised sometimes at the expense of the youth. For instance, when waiting to see a pastor or reverend father, young people are made to wait for long periods with no information while an elderly person would be given a swift service- the older person would be told how long he or she is to wait and also be told about the whereabouts of the pastor/priest.
Another instance is where ushers in the church shout at younger people when directing them to seat or move in the church hall but will be calm when they are directing older people. I have even seen it twice where a church staff member was shouting and embarrassing a teenage couple about "fornication" just because the couple were flirting in the church premises after the church service.
As someone that has been to many churches of different denominations with various friends in those different churches, I can say that such behaviour is endemic and it needs to be changed. Young people too have rights and feelings. The discriminatory treatment turns the youth off from coming to church.
2) Lack of relevant preaching to youths Youth problems are far beyond "respect your parents and teachers". There are important moral issues facing the youth such as; sex, porn addiction, on the internet, bullying at school, abuse from adults, anti-social behaviours and so on. This is where churches need a good youth pastor who can relate to such youth problems.
Many churches prefer to speak against pre-marital sex to teens and young people but they forget that the young people are more interested in how to approach the opposite sex or the person that they have a crush on. A good youth preacher would explain to the youth how to create a God-fearing relationship with their close friends or partners, rather than just spouting the usual anti-pre-marital sex doctrine. Also, when preaching to youth, Nigerian churches fail to use terms that the young people will understand. For instance, using a young musician like Wizkid to explain the problems with a materialistic life would be more relevant to youth than explaining it with plain theology.
3) Lack of youth programmes Many churches have little or no youth programmes that would interest the young people in the church. Even the ones that do have very boring programmes- they consider "choir and drama" to be everything young people need. Personally, I never could sing or act as a youth and so, I didn't really enjoy the youth programme in my church. There are other things that could engage the interest of the youth in church such as trips to religious sites/places and creative classes. Some churches have good youth programmes, I know of a few that have football matches among their youth, which is also a good idea.
4) Refusal to deal with "internet questions" There are a lot of facts and also nonsense on the internet. It is inevitable that young people will pick up strange things on the internet and will want clarification on such things. For instance, I remember a teenager asking a pastor about the Church of England's acceptance of gay priests- the pastor just concluded that the issue is beyond the teen's understanding. The teenager probably read it on the internet and was wondering if it was possible on the internet. The issue here is that pastors or priests should be ready for such controversial questions from the youth as they have curious minds at that age and are still learning. Dismissing their questions will only drive them to find questions elsewhere. Furthermore, not answering religious questions that pertain to the church makes it seem as if the church has something to hide.
5) Resistance to technology Some churches frown upon the use of Ipads or tablets to read bible passages. Some churches that have multi-million dollar buildings prefer to use televisions to broadcast educational material to youth members instead of multi-functional projectors. Some churches do not have a functional website that provides information on church activities. Times are changing and churches need to adapt. The youth are becoming more dependent on technology and there is a need to engage them on that level.
http://allnaijablog.com/5-ways-nigerian-churches-drive-youths-away Very true and they forget that the youths are the future ministers. This is a clarion call to all churches to carry youths along in all aspects. |

ozoigbondu: The Oba of Lagos, Alhaji Rilwan Akiolu, on Sunday organised a prayer session for peaceful co-existence in Lagos and Nigeria in general.
The prayer was conducted at the Iga Idunganran Palace of the royal father on Lagos Island. Akiolu said that the prayer was imperative to peaceful co-existence in Lagos and Nigeria in general, after peaceful conduct of the general elections in the state.
He urged different tribes in Lagos to work for the progress of the state.
The royal father urged the president-elect, retired Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to assist Lagos in repairing most of the damaged federal roads in the state.
Akiolu, who spoke in Yoruba language, said that when Buhari came to his palace during the campaign period, he was three hours behind schedule.
He said that Buhari complained of bad roads and he told him that when he becomes the president he should help the state to reconstruct the road. The Oba said he was sure that God would give him the power to do it.
Akiolu urged the incoming Governor of Lagos, to do what he promised the people.
The prayer was conducted by Imam Mujitabah Giwa, the Alawiye of Lagos and his league of Imams.
Giwa prayed for peaceful coexistence in Lagos and also for political leaders in the country.
Some traditional rulers in Lagos as well as white cap chiefs were present at the prayer session. Chief Rasak Okoya, Chairman of Eleganza Group was also among some dignitaries present.

Speaking to press men after casting his votes at his polling unit in Daura katsina state, yesterday April 11th, presidential elect General Buhari said that PDP defectors should not expect automatic appointment as ministers in his government.
"I have no fears of PDP defectors. The people who are defecting will only have influence in their constituencies. Since their constituencies are now controlled by the APC, their influence is therefore limited. I hope the people who are defecting will accept the fact that they are joining the people who succeeded. So, I don't think they will just come and say they want to be ministers next month, simply because they were ministers before" he said |
