What is this? What the hell is this?! GMOs are safe to eat, and this debate has been laid to rest a long time ago (among credible scientists, at least). Their safety has been affirmed by every major worldwide health organization. Research shows us that GMOs make up at least 70% of the feed for hundreds of billions of farm animals, year after year for 29 years with no negative effects. Source: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jonentine/2014/09/17/the-debate-about-gmo-safety-is-over-thanks-to-a-new-trillion-meal-study/#2395e842ca93 Here are 1,783 different scientific studies affirming the safety of GMOs: http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.3109/07388551.2013.823595 Now don't get me wrong, genetic modification is neither inherently safe nor harmful but rather, a tool that can be utilized for good or for evil. Regulation and scrutiny for each individual case is necessary but fear-mongering is not. They would prove to be an important tool in feeding the ever-growing world population. |
4kings:I came to learn. I don't really know the nitty-gritty of pantheism. |
Surprisingly good thread.

Eddlad:Uranium-235 has a half-life of 700 million years. Uranium-238 has a half-life of 4.5 billion years. Potassium-40 has a half-life of 1.3 billion years. Rubidium-87 has a half-life of 50 billion years. Samarium-147 has a half life of 106 billion years. So I doubt that older dates are a problem, because every timescale has a suitable isotope for dating. |
We have jerks on both ends and we'll never make any progress if we remain so jaded. It's not atheists vs theists, it's just a bunch of people who are trying to sensitize the religious majority on our views and grievances - at least that's what it should be. Obviously, we can troll each other now and then; it's part of life but we need to make sure it's not coming from a place of intolerance. It's all fun and games until Senate passes another draconian law, or something. I'm a pretty agreeable guy offline and I never bring up my disbelief unless asked, but the other day, some friends of mine were insulting Stephen Hawking because of his atheism and it made me realize how atheists are viewed in this country. This is a real problem that affects atheists in Nigeria, unfortunately though, were fail to properly address such things. |
butterfly88:How does consciousness exist without matter? That's more improbable than the Universe popping into existence or always existing in some form. |
Eddlad:Carbon dating is not the only form of radiometric dating. They're are other chemical isotopes of elements that are used. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiometric_dating?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C2693982592 Endeavour to read this. |
Unlimited22:Disorder would continue to increase in a closed system. A closed system is a body or area where no energy enters or leaves and remains the same. The hyperinflation of the Universe is and the expansion were observe to this day are in line with the Second Law of Thermodynamics which talks about entropy. I'm saying this hoping that I don't have to explain to you that every complex structure is nothing more than a series of simple ones working in tandem. Or that our planet is not a closed system (since it gets energy from the Sun) and can therefore drive uphill chemical reactions to achieve complexity. Understand these terms before using them in arguments. |
Wait, three minutes? Or did I miss something? |
KingEbukasBlog:Bestiality is animal cruelty. Incest causes the problem of less than fit offspring, it also leads to the small problem of children being groomed by perverted guardians. |
KingEbukasBlog:It is defined as self-reliance the way North Korea is officially known as the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea when we all know it is actually the Tyrannical Dictatorship of Villainy. Or like how Islam is the Religion of Peace (no Islamo.) The ideology may mean self-reliance on paper but in actuality, is practised with strict dogmatic beliefs and autotheistic propaganda in favour of the leadership position. How can you be the master of your own fate when you have to think through a 'Great Leader'? |
KingEbukasBlog:Ok, for your lazy, lazy ass. ![]() However, for the masses to be successful, they need a "Great Leader". [37]Marxism–Leninism argues that the popular masses will lead (on the basis of their relation to production); in North Korea, the role of a Great Leader should be essential for leadership. The theory turns the Great Leader into an absolutist, supreme leader. [39]The working classis not to think for themselves, but instead to think through the Great Leader. If only you'd actually looked up the things I told you to. |
KingEbukasBlog:See Kimilsungism–Kimjongilism in the Wikipedia entry for Juche. Also check out the 'Great Leader' theory. I'll call you're attention to this passage in the entry: The Great Leader is also a flawless human being, who never commits mistakes, who is always benevolent, and who always rules for the masses. The leader is incorruptible. For the Great Leader system to function, a unitary ideological system has to be in place. You can read it yourself. This is clearly a system of raising the North Korean leader to godhood. |
KingEbukasBlog:You said that you are a god based on the specific dogma of your religion. An atheist can call him/her self a god in the sense that they believe that they are largely in control of their fate. Once a man starts calling in himself a god over a set of people and begins to attribute unrealistic grandeur to himself, he becomes an autotheist. That's what has been happening in North Korea. |
KingEbukasBlog:Autotheism is not atheism. The Juche ideology promotes this. Everyone knows what is actually practised in that country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juche |
KingEbukasBlog:You'll say anything.

winner01:Even for you, this is a rather simple-minded response. A National anthem is supposed to be an all-inclusive method to strip away individual differences between the people to highlight one uniting factor: Our nationality. This little phrase in the anthem reveals the intolerance of the majority to the irreligious minority. The discrimination is on a fundamental level. That's why people get angry at our dissenting opinions without ever trying to understand where we are coming from. Historically, MLK was called an extremist and a militant in how he went about things. Today he's a hero. Now, don't get me wrong, atheists in Nigeria aren't going through half of what blacks went through back then but discrimination is not a competition. As long as it exists, something should be done about it. When I'm 70, I'll like to live in a Nigeria where everyone is treated equally. Atheists won't have to hide. Same-sex marriage is legal. Sharia Law isn't applied to minors, etc. By pointing out the flaws in religion, I hope to show people that their beliefs are not absolutes, in order to inspire tolerance in the future. It would be nice to know that I helped to drive positive change. Anybody who said that atheists shouldn't speak out is not helping to drive positive change in this area. |
Well as long as we have 'O God of creation' and 'so help me God' in out National anthem and pledge respectively. I can't just ignore the obvious bias of society. |
blueAgent:How am I sure I'm getting unbiased information about evolution from a book written The Restored Church of God? |
blueAgent:This is straight up falsehood. If you'd bothered to read the link I sent you at all, you wouldn't be saying this. Evolution does not build up complex traits by chance because of the pressure of natural selection. Hence, any little deviation from the norm that makes affected members more likely to reproduce (i.e. pass their genes), would be favoured and kept. This was covered in the link I sent you that speaks briefly about a program that retains 'correct' letters; making it far more likely to get the desired feature. You really should follow that link. I'll repost it: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/15-answers-to-creationist/ Confidence in the Big Bang theory seems from the predictions postulated from the theory that have been met. Thus, confirming that our current knowledge of the universe is true. They do not break the fundamental laws of science. That is just another myth. |
Muafrika2:How did Jellyfish survive? They either shrivel up or explode when the salinity is messed up. All that rain should have killed them. Also, how did kangaroos and wallabies make it to Australia without leaving any evidence. |
hopefulLandlord:It's like watching fish competing in a weightlifting contest. Lots of fun. |
KingEbukasBlog:Yes. |
