Aaaaand it's a wrap. Not a particularly strong ending chapter tbh but the story had already basically ended in the previous one. Too bad we didn't get a timeskip. All in all though, I'm happy I gave this manga a shot. I didn't have high expectations for it originally. I just found Nagatoro domming Naoto to be amusing and decided to pick up the manga after the first season of anime. This proved to be a good decision as Nanashi was able to pivot seamlessly from an admittedly mean-spirited "writer's barely-disguised fetish" type of story to a surprisingly wholesome romcom. When you compare the final chapter to the first chapter where Nagatoro makes Naoto cry or the original doujin where Nagatoro repeatedly kicks Naoto in the behind for, I kid you not, 40 panels on end, you really appreciate the character development and possibly the development of the writer of this manga. I'm definitely looking forward to Nanashi's next work.

Everyday247:Atsushi Okubo is clearly a man of culture. He has featured black characters in his works since Soul Eater. This may have to do with his knowledge of western pop culture which he always references in his works. |
Everyday247:Wouldn't the make her brother and sister Okinawan too? Why are they lighter than her then? This is a no-brainer, she literally has tan lines. |
NoonMasamune:Undercooked that one, didn't they? |
Kaycee7:Well, that gives us two options, either Nagatoro has a tan because she's the adventurous and outdoorsy type or she is somehow of a different race from her biological brother and sister. |
DieRich5:This is where I disagree. We already have a lot of anime in non-Japanese and non-Asian settings. Are you really telling me that you don't like Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist, or Jojo's Bizzare Adventure because of that? Even though it's not explicitly mentioned, Bleach made the Espada Hispanic and the Quincies German. Hunter x Hunter has a whole bunch of characters from different parts of the world. The main difference is that anime doesn't get hung up on race. They just depict characters and move on |
Brokeloser:Yoruichi is one of the baddest women in shonen. There are many reasons to like her and I can think of one very thicc one rn. However, she most likely isn't black which is why I didn't mention her in my list. We've seen black characters in Bleach already and they have unambiguous features (hair lips, etc) that Yoruichi doesn't share. Not every dark skinned character is black and I find it extremely cringe when people try to claim otherwise. |
Brokeloser:Japan is over 95% Japanese. Like, just imagine asking for Indian representation in Nollywood. Ridiculous, right? That said, we have a couple of cool black characters in anime and manga such as: Lille Barro, Oh-Etsu, Charon, Avdol, Dutch, and Miguel to name a few. However, I like them because they are cool, not just because they are black. As for black representation in media. I'm all for it. Black creators should make dope stuff with black people in it. Do a historical fantasy set in Nigeria. Do cyberpunk sci-fi set in dystopian future Lagos. Do an action-adventure set in the Sahel region, you get a cool desert backdrop, bladed weaponry, and many opportunities for cool costume design. Japan, China, Korea, India, Mexico, etc put themselves on the entertainment map by making their own stuff with their own people, for their own people before foreigners saw them and got into them too. Black people should be doing the same instead of looking to other races to do it for us. I want to see more cool stuff like Supa Strikas, Class of 3000, The Boondocks, etc and less lazy-ass race swaps in the name of "representation". |
pu7pl3:Does this site even have admins? How can we be having same complaints about the bots for years and years now? |
noble2faith:Wow, so you're telling me that the Undertaker isn't really a dead man? You're telling me that Kane isn't really a burn victim?? You're telling me that Mankind doesn't really live in the boiler room?? My mind has been blown!! What next? Are you going to tell me that Kofi Kingston isn't really Jamaican? |
blowjohn:Like he didn't pose nude for Playgirl magazine back in the 90s. blowjohn:Shawn Michaels has been described as extremely difficult to work with. He infamously pulled the Montreal screw job on Bret Hart because he didn't want to drop the belt. blowjohn:Wrestlers are people who get themselves oiled and go half naked to fake fight against other men. They probably have less scruples about nudity than the average person. |
Brokeloser:Man, I wish we could go back to the days when anime fans were just called weird losers. Nowadays, anime fans are called paedophiles for watching anime with petite characters who are canonically over 18. |
That look in pic 2, tho... Good thing I'm a guy, I'm waaaay too autistic for these ming games, man. Sauce: Girl Meets Rock
