If I had to describe this show in a single phrase, it is "power fantasy and nothing else".
The show doesn't hide what it is. It just focuses on a character who goes from being the weakest Hunter to being the strongest Hunter. Nothing else in-between matters.
Character writing is non-existent. You could as well delete all the other characters from the show and almost nothing will change. Every other character apart from the MC is as basic as they come... They are just stereotypes with no personality... Any level of importance they have is only for the MC's benefit... Thus every other character suffers as a result.
Worldbuilding is also quite disappointing. I'm not a fan of the R P G world elements...but it can be done right for instance F r i e r e n In this show's case, even the few aspects of the world that could be somewhat interesting is given so little screentime since the entire story must always revolve around the MC. 12 episodes and yet they couldn't even do anything with the political elements introduced within the show...
Story?...there is no story.... monsters of the week Every episode is the same. MC takes video game type quests and fights in dungeons...survives and gain better abilities....rinse and repeat...
Fights.... This is only somewhat good thing about it...the fight scenes are good...however since they lack any emotional attachment and it's mostly just monsters the MC keeps fighting, there is no impact. It's just like watching someone kill AI monsters in a video game for hours.... It gets boring really fast...
Just as I compared how it handled it's R P G world to F r i e r e n, I'll also compare how it handles combat to Jujutsu Kaisen.
Jujutsu Kaisen excels because it's story and character writing are conveyed through it's fights. Characters learn through fights, characters grow through fights. The plot moves forward through fights... That way each fight is actually impactful to the story...
In Solo Levelling it is quite the opposite. It is mostly just fights with random monsters with reward of levelling up. The few moments of character growth in fighting revolve only around the MC since every other character in the show might as well not be called characters...
Another difference with JJK is that JJK has a well thought out power system. In Solo Levelling, it's all about the MC levelling up and unlocking random skills to use against the next monsters of the week he fights.
To round up, I didn't expect much story from the show...but I was still disappointed. The few moments or bits of the world that actually piqued my interest were quickly sidelined in 30 seconds conversations between side characters...all in favour of watching the MC fight the next random monster in the next random dungeon
Truly one of the anime of all time to be quickly forgotten until the next season airs and people watch for fight scenes again
All things considered, 5.5 is a pretty generous score. I dropped the manhwa after watching the MC go "it's leveling time" and solo level all over random scrubs for 62 chapters. The pretty pictures can only hold your attention for so long.
At least God of Highschool was funny, Solo Levelling is like Pringles Original in a Hot & Spicy container
To simplify the fraction, we can rewrite 8 8 as 2 3 2 3 : 1 − 1 2 3 × 1 0 67 1− 2 3 ×10 67
1
This can be further simplified to 1 − 1 2 3 × 1 1 0 67 1− 2 3
1 × 10 67
1
Which simplifies to 1 − 1 8 × 1 1 0 67 1− 8 1 × 10 67
1
Further simplifying, we get 1 − 1 8 × 1 0 67 1− 8×10 67
1
So, the inner expression simplifies to 1 − 1 8 × 1 0 67 1− 8×10 67
1
Now, raise this to the power of 8 × 1 0 67 8×10 67 : ( 1 − 1 8 × 1 0 67 ) 8 × 1 0 67 (1− 8×10 67
1 ) 8×10 67
Since 8 × 1 0 67 8×10 67 is a very large number, this term approaches − 1 e −1 as the exponent approaches infinity. So, this term simplifies to − 1 e −1 (where e is Euler's number, approximately 2.71828 2.71828).
Finally, 1 − − 1 1−e −1 is approximately 0.63212 0.63212.
Therefore, the result of the expression is approximately 0.63212 0.63212
Calling someone a dummy and then ending up agreeing with them within the same comment is wild
ValeeLove: I promise I'll answer your questions, but what I want is a simplified reply to mine. It could take just 2 sentences even. What do WWE fans want? Draws, stories or ring ability? Phrase it however you want to but give me a simple response so I can hold you and your likes accountable when necessary.
This manga thrives on its bonkers fight sequences, crass humour, and surprisingly sweet character interactions. I'm a sucker for properly executed friendships and romances and Dandadan delivers that in droves. Characters that you want to root for are my weakness and Dandadan also delivers those in droves. I enjoy watching wacky adrenaline-pumping action and, well, that remains TBD until the anime airs.
If the anime does deliver on the action then I can only say "you're welcome" in advance because you're going on quite the ride in October.
Baddestguyp: There are a ton of uncensored japanese p movies
Some are unauthorised leaks while some are specifically produced for foreign markets. Others still, are decensored by men of culture using AI tools.
Tbh, if it's produced for Japanese TV. It would probably be like the Nozoki Ana live action. Probably just your average R-rated/TV-MA levels of explicitness but above average levels of cringe.
ryfoz: Besides having the data for 1080p resolution
Whats the other satisfaction derived from these high rez cos I always prefer lower rez. Watch delete then repeat
Hi-res is basically required if you're watching on a wide screen. Besides, some fansub groups days use really aggressive a/v compression and encoding, just look at the file size.
Kaycee7: Was on Twitter when this dropped. Uzaki, the dragon slayer, they dubbed my short queen
Now, Nagatoro just got an eyeful of what Naoto is working with in the latest Nagatoro chapter. Would it be a dragon or an earthworm? Place your bets now.
Sukuna has all these great plans for the future of the world but never fails to take some time out of his body schedule just to be a hatin'-ass mf to this 17 year old boy.
lexrichy: Gushing over magical girls is really going crazy
So crazy that that discussion of it got banned from the Magical Girls subreddit. Yup, they banned Gushing Over Magical Girls from the online space specifically created to gush over magical girls.
But yeah, I like a good ecchi anime that isn't afraid to be what it is. It's one of the few things I can kick back and watch during the week.
I also like the fact that despite how wild it gets, the discourse around it has been relatively chill. It really seems like the first episode and the fact that it's only legally available on HiDive have done a good job of filtering it's to audience.
