Olu20090:I don't know about Ibadan, but Enugu, Awka, and Onitsha have real estate value, no doubt. I have seen it myself. But I think it's down to values. The cost of land is prohibitive to the poor in these areas. Lands are cheaper in places like Ibadan due to availability. So, people will rather they build one themselves than be subjects to some landlord. Those in the east has no such luxury, hence, the higher returns. |
oteggt:Better shut up there! Defend your thieves; not point accusing fingers at someone else. Typical slow poke behavior! |
The way this man will win this election eh, it will do the rest like film trick. Looking past the sincerity of his actions, this man has done what a lot of people seeking elective positions failed to do - campaign as though his life depends on it. Going out of his way to reach the voters personally is a gesture that will resonate with most. Come to think of it, will a man who failed to reach you during the campaigns even make attempts when elected? Going over there will offer him the chance to come face to face with the problems that they face everyday. There are things even Stalin will be moved to change for the better when he sees how bad it really is for some. Good luck, sire! |
Nope. Rather, Nigeria got hit by Buhari misfortunes. While the recession was long in coming, and to a certain degree resulted through no direct fault of yours, you and your economic team have proven undeserving of even a single vote. It's been almost two years since you came in, yet, we still cannot feel that you are headed towards any direction at all economically. No blue prints, not even rumor of policy formulation, no nothing! How the heck were we supposed to get out of the quagmire?! Why is our currency the worst hit? Why were prices increasing in tandem with rising sea levels in summer as though it were a competition? Why are people getting laid off till date? Why does the government make paying workers seem like a favor? Why do people have to suffer what could have been prevented? Because you all failed to act! An economy that moves forward is one with thinking leaders. You guys have made progress seem like rocket science. Now, the only hope of the common man is for the years to roll by fast. Posterity will be ashamed we had you, twice! |
slevin1:Why do I get the feeling that you're a good guy who has been fed truth tinged with lies? You know why the north is "poor" like you claim? Because the leaders only amass wealth for themselves. The typical Nigerian leader only remembers to fix the roads because they are afraid of death, not because they care about the poor and downtrodden. As for Biafra and all the loses incurred, I'm really sorry for the lives lost. But, blame it all on Ojukwu, the very man who caused innocents to die fighting his war of greed. Your problem is not one nigeria; it is selfish individuals who lack foresight in every sphere of life. And those are the dunces that rule over us. |
sanandreas:But you're only one man. Who are the Niger Deltans you're speaking on behalf of? Stop foaming in the mouth, and go hustle. A busy man has no woes to blame on his neighbors. |
safarigirl:The issue with you is that you just like to talk. You don't know the Hausa tradition half like I do. Nobody does, but their's is traditional. Ask around. |
abraka00:If by poverty you mean a lack of money, then, you're far off the mark. Some people are privileged, I'm something like that. I guess we have a different perspective on life. |
Reminds me of my lecturer back in my Uni days, Dr. Mike Duru. He said, "when my 'mother' died, they gathered us around and asked that we contribute money for 5 million naira worth of casket." "I told them, look, you are not yet ready." "You mean we should take a whopping 5 million naira and bury in the ground just like that?!" "I told them to call me when they are set for the funeral!" I thought then that he was just being an Economist. But I can see now why it is unnecessary spending such amount on the dead when the living have barely fed. |
bonechamberlain:Gbam. Buhari has done a lot more harm to the unity of the country with his unguarded statements than he has made efforts to unite us (if at all). |
. |
bejeiodus:Helep me tell them. |
safarigirl:Gross ignorance. Stop misinforming people. An Alhaji sends his daughter to the groom's house with loads of goods instead. |
Lol. If I were to marry an Igbo girl, she has come from Anambra. I can't shout, biko. |
Because you said so? Clown! |
ianSweet:My point exactly. I think they are trying to pass the message that the region is made up of mainly Muslims. |
But why must a Mohammed always represent the Middle-belt in everything? ![]() |
bejeiodus: ![]() Looks like the flight company does not know who is travelling and to where. How could they leave the airport without the omniscient and all-consuming Trump?! Well, we'll see to it that we make their landing in Enugu a horrid experience! ![]() |
OZAOEKPE:Because it is obvious that the villains are the usual suspects, your "blothers"? |
Where is Trump? ![]() |
Keneking:What a silly submission. It's no wonder you can't make any meaningful contribution despite booking spaces on almost every thread. Chai. |
ZKOSOSO:Your kind of person is alien to mankind. You are someone who is more interested in finding faults in something rather than having a positive outlook. If that character robs off on your offspring, then it's sorry! Your criticism should at the very least, reflect your old age. |
chemicalDisease:I hope that being silly helps you to forget hunger as well? It's as though you all have been hardwired to reason a certain way with your short-circuited thinking. You degenerates have caused nairaland to become morally and academically debased due to your shallowness. I wish there were a way to ban stupid people! |
chemicalDisease:Is this the only thing u know how to comment? Besides, why use zombie and tire in the same sentence? You referred to someone as a Zombie, yet, are claiming that the person is tired. You really do not know what a zombie is then. |
wissed:No. Only HND can be used. |
Nice one. People like Dangote are rich for a reason. He has a good sense of judgement and understands how things should work. He misses the mark sometimes, but that's what makes us human. When you are smart and full of ideas, I respect that a lot. When you understand and try to carve a niche for yourself in an environment that's tough to do so, then you are someone worth emulating. When you manage to do that successfully and without making a fuss out of it, you automatically earn my respect. When you are all of that, yet, somehow manage to remain humble, you are exemplary. The man keeps amassing wealth because he never got complacent. Never leaves anything to chance. But here is why he is like a demigod to me: He's Hausa, a northwesterner, a Muslim, an elite, but somehow manages to be free-spirited, social, devoid of tribalism, tolerant, pro-science, pro-liberalism, and pro everything right (maybe not everything, but I see it so). It's not that people from his part of the coubtry are terrible, it's just that it is commonplace seeing some of them behave otherwise. His perspective of life is what any country needs to progress. He'd live and relate peacefully with people of other faith without taking anything from them, or trying to belittle their opinion. This is the reason why my love and respect for the Yoruba race runs deep. You will struggle to tell a Muslim apart from a Christian by their conducts. They love and respect each other truly irrespective of their differences. That's the kind of life I signed up for. I was raised that way. And for that, I'm grateful to those who taught me everything that I know. I hope that someday, a certain people will have a reason to value humanity over all else. No God is cruel. Humans are. The award is well deserved! |
Smellymouth:Word, bro. Like J. Cole would say, when I was younger, a lot of the things I learned came from rappers, not teachers. Now, all these suckers just want some bucks. They are no different from dance hall singers anymore. |
Jay542:The Nigerian music industry does not seek anything more than good beats and lame lyrics. The people just want to dance. Being a rapper requires a lot more. There should be creativity, delivery, and, a target audience. Rap doesn't really sell in this clime. He knew this from the beginning. So, I expected that he was going to have to just dig a bit deeper to reinvent. I did not envision the jettisoning. The people loved him for it. Why he changed it for something he barely even knows how to is what I still can't understand. Guys like me consider Jesse a legend. He does not have to change to appeal. My point is, he shouldn't even have attempted to become what the industry is looking for. Because..., the industry is basic! |
Smellymouth:I agree with you. I think, much like Skales, he wanted to commercialize. But instead, met his waterloo. Funny enough, I thought even the ELI album doesn't do justice to his enormous talent. If you'd watch him perform when he was up and coming back in Jos then, you'd understand my drift. Now his album release doesn't create as much excitement because the people are tired of the disappointment. First time I saw him rap, I was like, what the... It was an unbelievable performance. Then I followed it up, still, he managed to keep the tempo. Then Oleku dropped, and I was like, that's Ice reaching his potential. Alas, he fell back down to earth rather too fast. Those tracks you mentioned still remain some of the best he has released to this day. He is capable of so much more. But, I guess that's life. |
As someone who has watched Ice perform in his younger days, I believe that the guy hasn't lived up to his potentials. He's incredibly talented, but it's almost as if he doesn't know whether he is a rapper or singer anymore. Hence, he sings rubbish all in a bid to appeal to everyone. Whoever taught him that strategy killed his game, big time. I laughed the other day when I saw someone list him among Nigeria's most untalented musicians. It's like people who barely have knowledge of what they are writing about come up with shiit list just to sell. They can't tell a wack lyrics apart from lacking talent. Such a shame! Ice is a guy of highly unusual talent who somehow, happened to lose his way. For what? I do not know. |
donnybee:Lol. Someone would be insane to think that computers could predict human behavior |
hmuhammad:I'm not a fan of the man, but you greatly underestimate how much weight he pulls. He has helped a lot of people up the ladder, is liberal and more nationalistic in his approach with great tolerance. I believe that only the Northwesterners will vote against him when it comes down to it. There is a reason why they do everything to ensure that he does not get to that point where the masses decide. The Northwesterners, who regard themselves more Muslim than even Saudi Arabia will not vote for him because they do not consider him Muslim enough. This is not an issue of acceptance; rather, it is that of intolerance and sheer hypocrisy. The only thing between Atiku and the throne is himself - issues of corruption - not you two-faced **** Personally, I'll rather him than your Buhari, any day. At least, he will help ensure that Nigeria becomes a truly liberal state with rich ideals. Not this bigoted, typical *** we have on the seat today. Nothing against the man, by the way. |
