BusinessWhy There Is N600 Increment In The Price Of Cement--dangote by Cornerstone99(op): 12:01pm On Sep 01, 2016
Dangote Cement Plc, Africa’s largest cement producer, has announced an update on trading activities and its plans to convert some of its power plants to coal powered plants.

According to the firm on Wednesday, sales growth remained strong in Nigeria with volumes up 15% in July and August.

However, the firm said it has increased the ex-factory price of cement by N600 to mitigate the impact of cost increases from disruption of gas supplies and the naira devaluation.

Dangote Cement says it expects to begin mining its own coal by November, and most of its production lines are now capable of running entirely on coal.

Even the rich are crying but is the poor who will suffer it!

Car TalkInnoson Motors Shut Down Production Over Dollar Scarcity by Cornerstone99(op): 11:41am On Sep 01, 2016
A major Vehicle assembly plant in Nigeria, the Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) is shutting production due to the harsh economy and a lack of foreign exchange.

Innoson chairman Innocent Chukwuma said workers have already been sent home because of a lack of parts from Japan, China and Germany, which account for much of the content of the vehicles they produce.

According to him, production had stopped “as we are waiting for the imported items for which there is a forex issue.”

“I believe they are doing something but if they can’t do anything we’ll lay off some workers,” he added.

Launched in 2010, IVM last year raised its annual production target for 2016 from 4,000 to 6,000 vehicles due to a “Made in Nigeria” campaign that generated strong sales to the police, state agencies and churches.

Those ambitions are now looking shaky if promises of government assistance fail to materialise, Chukwuma said.

Can you shut down your business simply because dollar is rising daily?

PoliticsIBOM- WOMEN Protested Naked To Summon Wrath Of Gods Against FG by Cornerstone99(op): 9:27am On Aug 30, 2016
NSIT IBOM- WOMEN of Obotim Nsit community, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, Akwa-Ibom State have vowed to protest nude to summon the wrath of the gods against government and a gas company whose pipeline was blown up in the community by the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, July 24, for allegedly abandoning them to their fate after the destructive incident. They claimed that the explosion caused extensive damage to all the houses in the village besides ruining their farmlands and other means of livelihood, only for the company, working for the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, which constructed the pipeline, to simply evacuate its equipment after the incident and leave. However, NDA, penultimate week, declared an unannounced ceasefire following the appeal by monarchs, leaders and stakeholders of the Niger Delta coastal states on militants to sheathe their swords. In response to an earlier inquiry on the complaints by communities about the effects of their attacks on the environment, spokesperson of the militant group, self-styled Brig Gen Mudoch Agbinibo, empathized with the people, but said it was an unavoidable corollary they would have to bear in the spirit of the struggle to liberate them.

CrimeDoctor Thief: Medical Doctor Turn Armed Robber by Cornerstone99(op): 9:48am On Aug 26, 2016
FORTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD Richard Macaulay Obafemi, will have a long time to rue over the day his life took a wrong turn that led him into armed robbery and car-snatching as has been alleged by the police.

Until he descended into the new career, Obafemi was a medical doctor, who according to his account, had his primary and secondary school education at Ipaja, Lagos State before proceeding to the University College London, UCL, where he obtained a degree in Microbiology in 1987 and later studied medicine at UCL, from 1987-1992. In 1993, he did the housemanship in Hatsfield, London. In 1996, Obafemi came to Nigeria for the National Youth Service Corps Scheme and was posted to Kwara State. At the end of the service year, Obafemi took up appointment with the College of Medicine, University of Benin, where he worked for two years from 1998 to 2000, before travelling to Saudi Arabia.

“I worked at the Royal Medical Centre, Jeddah, for four years. Subsequently, I got another employment offer from the University of Ghana, in 2006 and worked there till 2015.”

Continuing the tale, Obafemi who hails from Sagamu Local Government Area, Ogun State said: “In 2015, I came to Nigeria and visited Kaduna State. During that trip, a car I was driving had an accident and the victim died. I was charged to court and remanded at Kaduna Central Prison. But I was later released from prison on April 8, 2016.

While in prison, Obafemi met and developed friendship with Stephen and Ifeanyi, who were also awaiting trial. After he was released, Obafemi linked up with Stephen and Ifeanyi who had also regained freedom. Within a short time, they convinced him to join their armed robbery and car-snatching gang.

“After I left prison, I had followed Ifeanyi to Asaba and joined their gang, which specialized in snatching cars. We have stolen cars like Lexus, SUV in Lagos State, which I drove to Katsina State to sell to buyers from Niger Republic. I sold one for N450,000,” Obafemi said.

Prodded on why he did not return to Ghana after being released from prison, Obafemi told Sunday Sun reporter: “I didn’t go back to University of Ghana because when I was in prison in Kaduna, I didn’t communicate with them.

“When I came out from prison, I found out that there was no going back. I decided to join the armed robbery gang to earn a living. I am married and blessed with three children. I lost my wife, Mary in 2012 while my three children are in Canada.”

A popular Nigerian parlance says, “many days for the thief, one day for the owner of the house.” Again, the Good Book teaches that when the cup of iniquity fills up, it spills over. For Obafemi and his alleged comrades in crime, the day of reckoning arrived when an alleged member of the gang, Valentine (surname withheld) was arrested in Onitsha by operatives of the Special Armed Robbery Squad of the Anambra Police Command and he spilled the beans, revealing the involvement of Obafemi in their activities who was at the time in a hotel (name withheld) in Onitsha, and explained that he had been there for four days waiting for the gang to bring cars he was to drive to Katsina and onwards to Niger Republic.

Armed with this information, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hosea Karma told Sunday Sun reporter that SARS operatives stormed the hotel on May 17, 2016 and arrested Obafemi. The head of SARS, Supol Ben Abang further informed Sunday Sun that the gang had for long been a terror to owners of SUVs, noting that the gang operated mainly along the Awka-Enugu Expressway.

After a series of successful car-snatching escapades, members of the gang would disappear from the town and go to Lagos to cool off, while waiting for the stolen cars to be sold before returning for more operations. It was during the last operation of the gang that Valentine was arrested.

PetsMan Who Named Dog ‘buhari’ Unable To Raise N50, 000 by Cornerstone99(op): 9:42am On Aug 25, 2016
THREE days after he was granted bail by an Ogun State magistrate court, the trader dragged to court for naming his pet dog ‘Buhari’ is still being remanded in prison. Vanguard gathered that this is as a result of the family’s inability to meet the bail conditions granted the man.
Joe Fortemose Chinakwe was charged to court for naming his pet dog Buhari. Family sources that spoke with Vanguard on phone, said they were able to raise only N20, 000, but could not complete the money. The presiding Chief Magistrate, B.J Ojikutu, admitted the trader to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum, who must be regular taxpayers in the state. A family source said they made passionate appeals to the authorities to accept what they had and release the trader. However, it was not clear if their appeals had been accepted but sources said the authorities were still profiling two of his guarantors as at 3.30pm yesterday.

CrimeFacebook Love : How Father Of 2 Uses Social Media To Lure, Rape, Rob Ladies by Cornerstone99(op): 9:31am On Aug 25, 2016
It was the end of the road for a father of two, who specialised in using social media platforms, especially Facebook, to lure gullible ladies to hotels, where he sedates, rapes and dispossesses them of their valuables. The suspect, Oluwole Falaseye, 30, who used the name Nipheme Ajanaku, usually posed as an Abuja-based bank manager on Facebook. After familiarising himself with young ladies through regular chatting, he would book for a meeting in a hotel in Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State. This was how he hooked up with a lady identified simply as Mercy and invited her for a birthday party in Opera Hotel, at Rasaq Junction, Festac Town, last Friday. However, Mercy, a student of Polymer Engineering at Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, had an engagement outside Lagos and sent her cousin, Tinuke, who is also an undergraduate of Public Administration at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, to represent her. Victim’s account Narrating what transpired at the hotel, Atinuke said: “While at the hotel room, he demanded for my ATM pin, saying he wanted to transfer N30,000 into my account. I was initially skeptical, but gave him because he said he was a bank manager and that his boss owned the hotel. “He offered me an alcoholic drink, but I declined because I don’t take alcoholic drinks. He offered me another, saying it was not alcoholic. I took it. That was all I could remember until I woke up to discover he raped me. “I was bitter, because he is not my boyfriend and I never bargained for such violation. He apologised and we went downstairs for the supposed birthday. He later told me he was going upstairs to see his boss. “I waited endlessly without seeing him. When I went to the room, I met the door opened, with the key still with me. I was shocked. “I discovered that my phones, a Samsung Galaxy S6 and another small phone, my necklace, ATM card and my wristwatch were gone. I went downstairs to inform the receptionists about the development and also asked if they saw him leaving. “They said they do not keep tab on their customers. I raised an alarm which attracted people.” She claimed that the suspect withdrew N172,000 from her account. When news reached Mercy, the girls planted a lady, who reached the suspect on Facebook, in the process of which he booked an appointment with her at Festac, only to be arrested by policemen. Suspect’s account Falaseye, the suspect, told Vanguard, yesterday, that lack of funds to pay for his three-year-old baby’s medical bill led him into such dubious acts. Falaseye, a secondary school drop-out, said: “This is my first time of doing this. I sell shoes and suits and I travel round Nigeria to buy and sell. But business has been bad and I didn’t have anybody to ask for money to foot my three-year-old baby’s hospital bill. “So I just figured out that I could meet the girl I have been chatting with and take her phone to sell. Yes I stole her items. “I told her to wait in the bar, while I went to the room, took her items and fled. I sold her phone for N20,000.” The suspect, according to Lagos State Commissioner for Police, Fatai Owoseni, would be charged to court soon, even as he warned Lagosians to be wary of his likes

Foreign AffairsMuslims Not Welcome In Czech Republic – Prime Minister by Cornerstone99(op): 9:11am On Aug 24, 2016
Prime Minister of Czech Republic, Bohuslav Sobotka, has warned that its government did not want a larger Muslim presence in the country. He, however, said on Tuesday in Prague that even the country shared Germany’s desire to stem the tide of refugees from the Middle East, yet the country had different views on how to achieve such. “We have no strong Muslim community here, and to be honest, we do not want a strong Muslim community to become established here,’’ he said. Sobotka insisted that the Czech, along with fellow Visegrad states, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia, were against a permanent refugee quota system for European countries as advocated by Merkel. He said that the Visegrad states believed it should be up to national governments to decide how many refugees to take in. “The bottom line is that it is national governments which must guarantee the safety of their citizens.’’

Celebrities6 Reasons Why Rebelde Was Way Better Than Gossip Girl by Cornerstone99(op): 9:55am On Aug 23, 2016
Growing up Latina usually comes with a decent amount of living in between cultures. You loved Plaza Sesamo and Sesame Street, had Lucas candy and Blow Pops, and you knew what it meant to have a foot in both cultures and be cool with it. Of course, while there are certain things you like about each one, there are times when you prefer one part of your cultura over the other.

Take Gossip Girl and Rebelde for example — two shows following the lives of private school kids, the drama that ensued in their lives and their chronic cases of teenage angst. The biggest and most noticeable differences? One was in English and took place in New York City, while the other was in Spanish with Mexico City as its backdrop. But there are other noticeable and tangiable differences between each show that definitely makes one stand out more in comparison.

Here's why Rebelde was a much better show than Gossip Girl.

READ: RBD: Where Are They Now?

1. The main characters had a band. While most of the kids on Gossip Girl spent their time shopping, gossiping and vacationing in the Hamptons, the Rebelde crew actually did productive things with their lives. RBD's songs and music videos took up most of the space on our iPods.

2. Rebelde took place at a boarding school. When you have the cast members living together and going to school together, it makes for waaayyy better drama.

3. The characters had relatable problems. Speaking of drama, while we can't exactly relate to the outlandish (albeit juicy) scandals that we watched on , Rebelde had issues we could relate to. The show dealt with problems that many Latinos have, such as dating outside of your religion/culture, the pressure of having to provide for your low-income family as the first ones to go away to school and more.

4. Rebelde's guys were also waaaay hotter. While it can totally be argued that Chase Crawford carried the team on his back and Chuck Bass is, well, Chuck Bass, Rebelde took the cake on this one. Penn Badgley is pretty mediocre next to Poncho Herrera, let's be honest.

5. Rebelde had the BEST celebrity cameos. Um, remember that time Hillary Duff was on? Okay, so maybe she was on Gossip Girl, too, but all of us know how rare it is to get a U.S. star on a Mexican telenovela. She was also definitely on Rebelde before she guest-starred on Gossip Girl.

PLUS: 6 Things to Know About Former RBD Member Anahi

6. The characters had a unique style. From Roberta's bright red hair to Mia's signature forehead star sticker, they found innovative ways to spice up their uniforms in accordance with their personal style. We were all rushing to buy preppy outfits to mirror their uniforms while Rebelde was popular.

HealthTop 7 Health Tips For Men by Cornerstone99(op): 11:19am On Aug 22, 2016
Take charge of your health, gents. The sooner you do it, the better.

"It’s not cool for a guy to wait until he’s 50 to see a doctor," says Steven Lamm, MD, the medical director of NYU Langone Medical Center’s Preston Robert Tisch Center for Men’s Health. "Men need to care about their health above the waistline as well as below."
Here are his top 10 tips.

1. Find a doctor. Choose one you're comfortable with, so you can "openly discuss all aspects of your health, from your mental state to your sexual function to your overall wellness," Lamm says.

2. See that doctor. "Just because you are feeling well doesn’t mean you are well. Have a tendency toward denial? Don’t ignore things like black stools, vision loss, or chest pain. Unfortunately, men have a tendency to do just that."
3. Get informed. "You do want to be knowledgeable and understand that you shouldn’t ignore symptoms or complaints, but you don’t want to self-diagnose."

4. Vary your workouts. "The body gets very comfortable when you always do the same workout. You have got to keep varying your exercises, and they have to be an age-appropriate mix of aerobics, muscle training, and stretching."

5. Eat to thrive. Getting enough nutrition is crucial. “It’s more important than anything else except maybe sleep,” Lamm says. “Focus on nutrients rather than calories,” and eat a variety of healthy foods. “You can’t achieve optimum nutrition with limited choices."

6. Prioritize sleep. "Get at least 7 hours. That’s not something you should compromise. Men think they can overcome sleep deprivation by exercising or whatever,” but that’s a bad idea, he says.

7. Check your head. "Mental health is really, really important. Think about several things: Are you drinking too much? Are you paying attention to signs of depression or bipolar disorder, which often get missed? If you have a family history of mental illness, suicide, and/or substance abuse, you really need someone to help you review the signs and symptoms."

Christianity EtcGod-given Dreams by Cornerstone99(op): 9:25am On Aug 22, 2016
Today’s Scripture: “A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], but the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.” - (Proverbs 16:9, AMP)

Oftentimes, children have dreams for the future—dreams of being ball players, actresses, super heroes and firemen. But most of the time, those dreams end up just being wishful thinking. As we get older, we grow out of them.

It’s good to play and have dreams as children, but when we grow up, we have to know the difference between a God-given dream and a wish. I remember when I was a little boy, I dreamed of playing basketball for the Houston Rockets. That was definitely a fantasy! Beyond our wishes though, we all have dreams placed inside of us by the Creator of the universe. In fact, the Latin word for “desire” means “from the Father.” One way to tell if a dream is really from God is that the desire won’t go away. You may have had it for years, but you still can’t let it go. In fact, you may have tried to let it go, but it won’t let go of you.

Today, search your heart and allow those God-given dreams to surface. Remember, He placed those desires inside of you for a purpose. Ask Him to order your steps as you embrace the destiny He has in store for you!

Prayer: “Father, thank You for the dreams and desires You’ve placed within me. I submit them to You and ask that You direct my steps. Search my heart and cause my thoughts to become agreeable to Your Word and to the plan You have for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
