ekitimanalways: You meant to say the first negotiated national minimum wage through collective bargaining by labour unions, government and other stakeholders. Before 1981, governments have been fixing minimum wages. Search for the “Wage Board and Industrial Council Act No. 1 of 1973” where statutory minimum wage was clearly defined. As a result of this Act, “Udoji Salary Award” (Owo Udoji) was paid to government workers and some of the private sector employers also did same.

ekitimanalways: In 1980, the minimum wage was N45 if my memory serves me right. My monthly allowance at the Polytechnic was N35 per month and lived like a king. From Abeokuta to Oshodi, bus fare was 40 kobo. A carton of 33 beer was N1 and a bottle was sold for 10 kobo. Five Geisha was N1 and other brands, you’ll get six. |

Pemisire113: Firstly, hold on to your hospital job in Nigeria. And secondly, do online search for care jobs in the UK with visa sponsorship. Apply to as many as you can, but don’t pay recruitment fees to anyone. If you persevere, I am sure you’ll get a care job in the UK after a while. 1 Like |

Iamgrey5: In Yoruba language, Nupe is called Tapa. Oshodi Tapa was a servant in the palace and by providence was selected by the King when the Colonialist requested that the King nominate someone for schooling. That was how Oshodi Tapa became one the earliest residents of Lagos to acquire western education. |

NewBoyKhashoggi: You’re a new Pharaoh that didn’t know Moses. A few years ago, I was one of the most active members giving quality opinions here despite not being an Agent. On that screenshot (earlier shared) there’s nothing saying retrieving ongoing applications only. When you retrieve a submitted application, it will take you to the attached dialog menu which will give you the option of either viewing (and reprinting) the confirmation page or create a new application which will have virtually all the details earlier entered. 1 Like

Chefyemc: I am in the same situation, I fill my DS-160 in January 2020 for an appointment in March 2020 before COVID-19 kicked in. I will be filling another form for my appointment in January 2020. Normally, I call up my last form and use it to complete another DS-160 form. It’s easier that way as I don’t have to refill all the data. |

fancyto: Hello, Do not over promise. This process is not as easy as you have stated it. It is a long and tortuous process which can be very frustrating! A better option is going through higher education studies in Portugal. Even at that, it’s still not a very easy process because the economy of Portugal is still struggling. |
Family / Re: My Brother In-law Is Making Advances At Me by cosade(m): 3:30pm On Aug 13, 2023 |
There’s a Yoruba proverb that says “a woman will agree to consensual sex if the man persists”. Equally, when a girl tells you “stop”, it can mean “stop” or “keep on trying” it depends on how it’s said (tonation) and body language. If you truly want your brother in law to stop this nonsense, he’ll get the unambiguous message when it’s indicated in your tone and body language says it. |

Graceudogwu: That does not make all educational certificates worthless as asserted by the poster I responded to. If true, unaccredited courses is not limited to that country it happens in Nigeria too. It’s incumbent on applicants to do due diligence on courses they are applying for.

Graceudogwu: I have been to Cyprus (it’s not South Cyprus) before, over thirty (30) countries as a matter of fact. I disagree on your point that educational certificates acquired from universities in Northern Cyprus are worthless, they aren’t. All universities in Northern Cyprus are accredited by the Ministry of Education of Turkey and recognized worldwide. However, as earlier stated I can’t send my children there because it’s not a recognised country and thus no diplomatic channels available to seek redress. |
