BabaRamota1980:
see as I don upgrade. . I don become vo.
OP, Thanks for inviting my input. The best inputs will come from experienced hands in here...seye, omobendel, cosade, thecongo, ati bebe lo...
I could address this from legal standpoint but after weeks of observations Im getting that muvh of the decisions are personal opinion or 'discretion' of the VO as long the decision does not contradict the statutes of US Immigration law. The law has many interpretations, I read it already.....and the VOs therefore take advantage to roam broadly within the range. So no need to give legal opinion, however i issue you my objective recommendation below, bulleted.
* you were a geologist and changed career to teach. Any research/scholarship work or peer reviewed publications? For someone in your field this is your biggest asset. Many Nigerian teachers migrate illegally to US. By way of Law, you failed to counter the assumption that you are a potential migrant. By way of situational judgement, you also failed to hint the VO that you are an asset to the academic community.
* your wife has a brighter and solid ties to get you approved. She is into Community Development and Youth Empowerement (Skills Acquisition). Is she on any government programms for Youth and Cultural Development? If not get her on one at State Level and apply for State Funding. States fund skill acquisition on a per head intervention money. Once you have this registration and funding you can penetrate into LGs and recruit from the street. Attend State and LG functions for Youth programmes. Keep records. Next time you go to see a VO take these records to "show and tell".
* the team of husband and wife, .....teacher and youth developer.....can even register with the USIC for Student or Youth Exchange Programme between Nigeria and US.
* if you reside in Lagos look into something called Lagos - Atlanta Sister City Exchange Programme.
Now, before I wrap up.... kindly ask LadyG what she thinks of my input. . BoldedCongratulations Baba Ramo But sha why is it taking you forever to get LadyG her ticket? Are you sure you're capable?, hmmmn I don't mean that! I meant financial capability jor. |

You can only apply for visa in your country of residence (with residence permit) or country of origin. The only exception is, if the foreign mission is responsible for either of the two countries. |

Secondly, Do i need to know how he became a citizen? Is it likely the VO ask?
Please i need advise before the interview date How did you arrive at that conclusion? Even if you think he's capable, why should he invest so much in you? And if has told he's capable and willing to invest so much in you, do you have that in writing? What does he do for a living? These are questions you should have answers for. |

emekamacelo: hello rumies. i happend to be fortunately employed in America. and my employee has started processing my travel documents. the job is a 2years contract job that allows me to work fulltime for him he told me that his reason for wanting to employer people from outside usa is cause he wants a full time worker that will live in his house and work full time, while americans will rather work as pert time and will always return home after work. he's the one paying for my visa and flight expenses. he said i will be the one to pay for health card when my documents are ready. he also asked me to start processing my international passport asap. we've agreed on salary and he said that i don't need to apply for visa again in my country as the immigration will send me my work visa. my question is this true? i've written to the immigration as he told me to tell them that i want to work for him and that i should let him know when they replies. i sent the mail day b4 yesterday although they have closed but he said they wil I can identify a scammer when I see one. I pity the stupid and ignorant people that by now would have sent private messages to this guy for similar opportunities (misfortunes). Most of the things stated are untrue, deliberate falsehood and height of stupidity. |

JAMESOJAY: Please I want you to help e explain this to me..- I went to the American Embassy last year ..i answer all the questions correctly ..the VO asked if I was married I said yes and she asked if I have kids I said yes...I told her my sons age..Next question the VO asked where is your son? I said she with my wife...she looked at my and repeated the question again and I answered same thing. Next she gave a pink paper and said I should try again
Please help me out First BoldedYou meant you answered truthfully. Second BoldedOn the question where your son is, when it was repeated you should have known something was amiss, with your response. Saying your son is with your wife, could be interpreted so many ways: - it could mean you're not living with your wife and she's the one responsible for your son's financial needs - it could also portray you as a rude person or an arrogant. "He lives with me here in Lagos (or wherever)" would have been more appropriate. |

BarristerAlarig: Dear Everyone. I am a first time US visa applicant intending to attend an Engineering conference before I go back to school for my HND programme. Currently I work with a bank using my National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology. I am a 21yr old Man. While filling the form DS160 I left the sponsorship bar/space blank. I didn't know if I should use myself with less than 500k in my account or my dad with over 5mil in his account. Which should i use Furthermore, myself and father do not bear the same name. How do I prove he his my father? Can a birth certificate suffice?? Or would a court declaration be better? I am completely confused! I need help on how to make my application believable as I do not intend to run. I just want to attend the conference, get a certificate of participation, learn new stuff,Network and rub the fact that I have been to AMERICA in everyone (or maybe just my friends) faces! My interview date is June 4 . #Help_a_confused_fellow.
P.S- My dad is the actual sponsor. It will be extremely difficult for you to prove that you're not an immigrant, so I'll advise you not to waste your money. |

Not true. Each country assesses visa applicants independently. What was discussed here recently was a US visa applicant with Canadian ban. So these are two different situations. |

OmoAje1: Hello Everyone,
Please I need your advise. I renewed my US visa through Dropbox 3 months ago. The visa was granted. I was called this week from US consulate Lagos to come for interview without telling me to come with my passport or any other documents. I was convinced because visa was affixed inside my passport already. What documents do I need to go along with. Thank you all. Since you were not told to bring any document, then you shouldn't bother yourself. If you have not misused your visa in the past and no misrepresentation, then you have nothing to worry about. But sha, know that visa can be cancelled/revoked without the passport having the visa stamp. |

RtdGeneral: Please on ones salary as a self-employed. Do one state the average net profit as monthly income or the amount paid to self as salary from the business net profit. Note that almost all, if not every entrepreneur, disregards salary payment to self. We just dey spent dey go but cautious of not to spend more than the profit and in most cases only sacrifice on times of needing some cash to diversify or boost business. Please advise on what to quote as salary... Remember no payslip but the business is striving. If your business is operated as a limited liability company, then your income is the addition of your salary and divideds received out of profit. However, if it's a business name then the profit for the year is your income. Yearly income is divided by twelve to arrive at your monthly income. By the way, as a good citizen that meet up with his tax obligations your yearly income is already reflected on your last Tax Clearance Certificate. |

He wants to invite the three of us over. He has invited my mum and my late dad some years back. Though they spent only 2 weeks and came back to nigeria. pls I need answers becos I no wan go dash embassy money for nothing. thanx You will assessed on your merits, usually based on your ties to country of residence. The stronger the ties, the better. If your Uncle sponsoring you meant financing your trip, hmmnn I will advise you not to "dash embassy money for nothing". Your inability to finance your trip is a weak tie. |

temyde: Gd day, Pls i want to ask, i was issued a US visa in feb and travelled in Aug. 2015, travelled but was deported at the POE (officer said wrong intent), i reapplied in Jan 2016 and was told i was deported becos i filled Maryland as my destination but travelled to Washington and was told i had been banned. (I didn't even know that the airport i choose was in Washington cos my friend who i was supposed to stay with said there are 2 airports in ML i.e. BWI and DCA, whe asked me to pick DCA since it was closer to her office.). My question is this: 1. It's ben almost 3yrs, can i reapply now and what are my chances, 2. Hubby refused to travel cos he does not eant this to affect his passport too (although he's travelled with it once before my own predicament) now it's been 13months si ce the expiration of his visa and he wants to repply. Ehat are his chances?. 3. Can i try other countries like UK or Canada. Were you pregnant when you were denied entry at the PoE? It's difficult to understand how travelling to the District of Columbia (DC) instead of Maryland would be construed as misuse of visa. Dulles airport, Washington located in Virginia (another neighbouring state), BWI in Maryland and DCA in Washington, DC are logical airports for travellers to Maryland State. |

tonyik: My (with spouse) interview for B1B2 is in June, earns 500K+ monthly in ICT. Should I also include my truck business in DS-160 form? if yes How? Must I go with the documents of the trucks (3) to the embassy? I am assuming the ICT job is a paid employment and the monthly salary stated, is in this respect. So this is your monthly income except you have verifiable evidence of additional incomes. Sales from your truck business is not income until you have deducted all expenses and declared a profit. The business' financial statements, bank statements, receipts, income tax paid etc, are some verifiable evidences that you can go with, to the Embassy if you wish to. |

You said we couldnt comprehend what coscade said, can you please summarise these? Was he only referring to the education officer by saying civil servants? or those working in places I mentioned are not civil servants? Dont come and lecture us on comprehension please, we all go school I do not want to make further comment on this issue after Lady G's detailed and very explanatory post, but will do just this one on the subject. As Lady G rightly mentioned, my post was addressed to a specific person that made the post, though others in similar situation can borrow an idea from it. In this case the OP claimed he's an Education Officer, a civil servant. Interestingly, this person did not contest the opinion given. Suddenly, this was misconstrued to public servants in CBN, NNPC etc. By the way, this category of government workers are public servants and not civil servants. Please let's focus on the reasons why this thread was created. |

The date I was supposed to land was Friday 5th April... Unfortunately my visa wasn't granted. Now money was deducted. Pls help with possible solutions You should have cancelled your hotel reservation when you didn't get visa or before cancellation deadline. Having failed to do that, you should have cancelled it the day your account was debited. Read the conditions attached to your reservation but generally, when a guest does not turn up, some hotel will charge for the first night only. But some will argue that they kept your room unoccupied for the period. However, you don't lose anything by asking the hotel for the refund of charges in excess of one night. Good luck. |
