Religion / Re: Nigeria Adopts Jordan As Permanent Pilgrimage Destination by cosade(m): 8:28pm On Aug 09, 2021
illicit:
What does this mean

Today. most of the historic Christian sites are in a number of Islamic Countries like Palestine (Bethlehem where Jesus Christ was born), Egypt (Mount Sinai where Moses received the 10 Commandments) and most of the places Apostle Paul preached are now in Turkey.

Jordan, Algeria (Constantine), Iran etc hold very historical sites.

So the Christian Pilgrimage is being extended to those countries gradually, where security situations allow. In 2004, when I went on Christian Pilgrimage to Israel, we were the first sets to cross into Palestine from Israel to visit Bethlehem after 10 years. We also crossed into Egypt to visit Mount Sinai.

Career / Re: How Do You Determine Seniority With Staff On The Same Level And Step? by cosade(m): 3:06pm On May 11, 2021
LadiIshola:

Staff number appearance is not an evidence of how people reported. Even if 10 people report for assumption at the same exact time, they cannot all occupy the same spot on a list, they have to follow each other based on the discretion of the admin officer attending to them, so that would determine how their names appear on a list. So should that be a determinant for seniority, even when someone who came later, maybe split seconds, appears before others she met there?
So what they look at is the age, civil service is still traditional, doesn't apply the ethos of the private sector. The elder amongst them in such situation is adjudged the senior and others follow like that according to their ages.

Bros, I've been here since the page of this thread was 2, it's now 4/5. To me, if you explain till tomorrow, people who've chosen to be ignorant will continue to be. Further explanation are exercise in futility.

As for me, I'm done correcting or replying to this thread. People are just arrogantly ignorant and are clearly not open to learning.

LadiIshola:
How they check seniority in the civil service in this case is different. What they look at, if after everything checks out to be a stalemate, is their ages. Birth certificate comes in play. The eldest of them becomes the senior, and not your file number or how your names appear on a list.

Stalemate? How?
One “staff number” must be before the other.

Seniority is inconsequential until you guys reaches level 16/17 and one of you need to be a Director, then you'd know that seniority ACTUALLY matters.

Seniority is always consequential in the civil service, irrespective of the level. “Seniority list” is “sacred” in the civil service, you dare not write the name of the one that was documented in the afternoon before “his senior” that was documented earlier that day.

Does this seniority add extras to your take home, or wha you trying to prove

It makes a big difference in the civil service. If their Unit’s Headship is to be filled amongst the two of them, automatically it goes to the one that resumed earlier that day.

It is!

For as long as ordinary Nigerians are willing to pay 474 Naira for one USD in the parallel market (as of 08/02/2021), and FGN is selling at 380 Naira to VIPs in the official market.

Unfortunately, Nigeria can’t afford to continue defending the Naira. We don’t need IMF to tell us to do the right thing, FGN should face the reality and let Naira finds it’s level.

It’s not impossible to have Christians in there midst but one thing that is obvious is that they must have been forcefully conscripted by those evil people in BH. There are so many “Chiboks” (Christian villages) in Borno, Adamawa, Zamfara and other Northern States.

Homosexuality is a borrowed practice.

In 1980, I was a young man doing vacation job in one of the big plants along Oshodi - Apapa Expressway and was almost sexually molested by one of the Supervisors, a man that should be in his 40s at that time. In all honesty, I didn’t know of homosexuality then I was only lucky that was able to free myself and ran out of his office. Unfortunately, I was not confident enough to lodge official complaint to the management.

Forget about US Transit Visa. If going to Mexico is important to you, then you look for your ticket money.

Hello everyone,

A cousin of mine married to a US citizen, who also has a child for him, would like to visit his family in the US. He currently does not intend to relocate to the US now because of his businesses in Nigeria that he handles, thus he decided to apply for the B2 visa. However, the earliest date that he booked is Mar 21 2020 but he would like to request an emergency date to visit his family on or before Christmas ideally. He has never done this before, what are good and proven emergency request reasons for the visiting visa?

Holiday cannot be emergency, his action is suggesting some desperation on his part.

I know I sent the extension package before the Nigeria airspace started operating. And a lawyer said they can’t leave else the extra days after their six months stay will count against them.

Are you sure a lawyer told you this? If your parents leave now, they won’t face any penalty. Any further delay is dangerous.

Hi guys. Please I will like to know if its mandatory to have an invite to be granted a tourist visa. If yes, what requirements qualify someone to be classified as friend?

So I want to visit my girlfriend in Texas but we haven't met yet. We are planning to meet up in dubai or the Bahamas before we can push for a visit to the US.

Please I need all the advise I can get. I'll also appreciate if you can share tips on how to go about it if there are more alternatives I haven't mentioned.

The end goal for me is to get a job and permanent residence. But I'm willing to take thing one step at a time.

If you’re serious with the relationship invite her to Nigeria to me with you first, get to know your family etc. That’s the first step of the long journey.

Then follow up on the extension you applied for, or have your folks be on a flight back to Nigeria.
No need to be harsh on anyone here. We all don't work with USGovt.
This is all you can do with an extension request. Follow up with the Govt.
September 2nd/5th to November is another 60 days after. That's the time frame you need to be worried about or explain why your folks STILL DIDNT TRAVEL BACK

He should forget about the extension and let his parents leave now else it could count against them in future.

Please has any one been in this situation before, my parents came to visit me in March, they were supposed to leave in May but due to covid their flight was canceled. In August I applied for extension of stay base on the six months rule before Nigeria airspace resumed. Now the extension of stay I applied for is still pending, no biometric notification yet from USCIS, I don’t know whether if they leave now the days they stayed will count against them.

They should leave now.
No country (including USA) will count this against anyone that his or her departure was delayed by COVID-19.

Greetings dear gurus in the house!

I have a few questions about visiting the USA.

I have a friend in the US(married and a Nurse) who wish to invite me and my wife over (we have no kids yet). He wants us to come live & work in the US through INVITATION.

We've never met in person but got to know him through a friend I know from Childhood who now live in South Africa.

My questions:

In view of our circumstance, is it possible for both of us to be INVITED?

What category of Visa will work for us?

Can we stay back in the US? Is there any legal option for staying back in the US?

Note: the goal is to get PR

Please help me explore all options available.

If your friend (that you have never met) is truly a US citizen then he should know he can’t invite you and your wife to live and work in US.

However, a US employer can temporarily employ you if you’re in a specialty occupation and support your application for the H-1B visa.

Culture / Re: Why Do Adults Find "How Are You?" Insulting? by cosade(m): 12:29pm On Oct 05, 2020
mikezuruki:
I have noticed that adults in this part of the world perceive that to be insult.

They feel belittled and disrespected.

Why?

It depends.

If one’s first language is English then it shouldn’t be an issue.

However, if your first language is an African native language like Yoruba then it could be an issue.

The way the brain and mind work are to “think and process” information in one’s first language. Someone that grew up with Yoruba as his first language will found it strange for a younger person to ask him “How are you?”. Unconsciously, the person’s system will translate that to “Bawo ni?” or “Se daada ni?”. In Yoruba land, it’s the older person that normally ask the younger ones such questions.

Same way, a Yoruba man whose first language is Yoruba could mistakenly report the speech of an elderly person starting with “They said......” instead of “He said......”

So this more about conflict of cultures.
