The interesting case about the Igbo language is that many children of upper and middle class Igbo families may have been raised with English but they later grow up speaking Igbo as adults. I would say, at least, 70% grow up speaking Igbo as adults.

I know several Igbo adults who learned Igbo as adults but spoke only English as children. I think the Igbo culture may find it fashionable for children to speak English (which I do not find fascinating anyway) but there is a strong cultural emphasis and expectation to speak it as an adult.

In my university days, a good number of students at UNN were born and raised in the west but were sent to the east for their university education primarily to pick up the language and many of them did. Thus, it is rare to find Igbo adults, especially those living in Nigeria, who cannot speak the language. You might find them living in foreign countries though.

If you compare Igbo language with many Niger Delta languages, we might be somewhat better. Welsh, Gaelic etc. (previously native languages of Wales and Scotland in the UK) are far worse compared to our Nigerian languages.

But we should strive to ensure 100% fluency especially among the children. English is an international language and has come to stay and bilingualism in both languages is key in our modern times.

The renaming won't change anything. People will still refer to it as Abakiliki street till forever.
After all, the renaming of Ezi Elias in Enugu-Ukwu Anambra state to 'Ezi Okpala NRI' didn't change anything. People still refer to it as 'Ezi Elias' till today after many years of its renaming.

Abakiliki is the most popular street in Awka due to its boisterous night life and swarming of runz girls. It is the red light district of Awka. It won't change the popular name.

I think Umahi is overreacting. Anyone familiar with the street in question, knows that " Club road" is a better name to "Abakiliki street". It's got nothing to do with any discrimination. If I were Obiano, I would name another street Abakiliki to cool tempers

This is my third relationship
Its all start due some uncalled situation, we became closed friends but ended up falling in love with each other. Then he proposed love to me and I accepted since he knew everything about my past relationships. The love between us was so strong not until my body started changing. I started adding weight and having this stubborn acne on my face. This change makes me look totally different from before. Without the hattrick, or any above average performance in WC, the UCL performance would not have been enough if:

- Argentina wins the WC and Portugal gets knocked in group stage or R16 with no standout performance by CR7

So the UCL performance would not have been enough in such scenario. He needs performances like tonight's to augment it.
