bestview: They will choose to ignore this decent woman that first called Achebe the Father of African Literature, rather they will like us to listen to that old fool that brought cultism into our tertiary institutions today. What a people without a hero. We in the East has hero for you people to look up to, because we have world acclaimed hero. The sad part is that we have people on here who talk as if they are knowledgeable but quickly prove how that is not the case. Mandela doesn't know Achebe. exhibit A: photo of Achebe and Mandela talking It was europeans that called Achebe the father of modern african literature. Exhibit B: A south African woman and Nobel winner bestowed upon him that title. Achebe is a nobody. Exhibit C: his name trended on twitter, with posts from Mexico to China lamenting the loss. Influx of tributes and etc. Sometimes (if ever) NL and reality are not one in the same at all and its good to remember that fact. |

sheyie2007: your head like crayon.. You and who If you have nothing useful to say than sip a cup of STFU and follow it with a glass of HCl Cities are not just buildings but the entire environment. Nigerians don't think planting flowers or trees are important part of upkeep. That's why Nigeria will have roads and the sides that line those roads look like barren wastelands. Open gutters, no sidewalks, nothing normal cities have and then folks go bragging that they are the "giants of this and that". Whether we compare Nigeria to Botswana or Kenya, Nigeria needs work. The end. |

Lol Nigeria won't look like that until mentalities change. The belief in beautifying for the sake of it is not developed in Nigeria. |

Afam4eva: A city like Lagos cannot be bulldozed. It's an already made city. We just have to add some cosmetics from time to time but i doubt it can ever be like we dream for it to be. It's left for upcoming cities to learn from the shortcoming of Lagos and plan very well putting into cnsideration every possible variable. Nigerians for some reason do not have a culture of beautifying areas. Planting flowers, trees, bushes, and etc. And please don't mention the tacky crap Fashola does because that's terrible landscaping It takes very little to make a place come alive. Abuja looks dull not because of buildings its because of its arrangement. |
