Go geek is shared hosting.

I know it's a glorified shared hosting.

I will look into siteground and Inmotion and make my choice. But I have heard a lot of good things about siteground managed vps.

Managed, that's why it's a bit expensive.

If you need unmanaged server go with linode.

ok sir. Pls which plan did you choose? I am looking at their 'VPS 2000S'. Is it managed at that price? InMotionHosting looks great. I am experiencing high traffic lately and I have started making plans to migrate. I am on siteground GoGeek.

I am tired of all those cheap stuff. The quality of the service won't be favourable to me. Take a look at their price and hardware.

I started pay for VPS from 30 to 45 now 54.99 USD monthly.

I am tired of server migration. I can't see stablehost.com offering a good service.

Thanks for your recommendation and assistance.

It's ok sir. Pls this Inmotion vps, is it managed or unmanaged?

Shifted to InMotionHosting VPS.

Done with migration, waiting for DNS to fully propagate.

It's ok. I would have suggested you try stablehost.com. Their vps plan looks interesting and cheap too. Goodluck bro.

What is your plan now? Why not try any of these: siteground.com stablehost.com domain.com

Yes, it has been running with all hosting I have used so far.

That's exactly where your problem is coming from. These cron jobs run every minute. It impacts on the server. Here is what you can do.

1. Use cloudflare.com for your dns.
2. Enable dynamic cache on your server.
3. Host all your cron jobs at www.easycron.com

I have more than 10 bulk sms website running under me. I host with siteground GoGeek and I hosted all my cron jobs at easycron.com by paying few dollars per year.

Webmasters / Re: Learn Bulk SMS Business Here On Nairaland by CreativeWeb(m): 7:41pm On Jun 21, 2015
Ok. After building your normal joomla website, it wil be the time to install the sms portal creator joomla component.

Pls I want you to know that every joomla website can become a 'bulk sms portal' when you install the spc component in it.

First, joomla is an open source content management system running on php and mysql. There are so many content management systems in the web industry, however there are three most popular ones which are wordpress, joomla and drupal. Every cms is easy to learn with one or two curvy parts.

You can download a free copy of joomla application at joomla.org and install in the htdocs of your xampp or www of your wamp server. Just create a database in your phpmyadmin and add a user, host and password. Type localhost/yourjoomlafolder and the joomla installation wizard will start. Follow all the steps by providing your database details.

When joomla is successfully installed, head over to your admin area at localhost/yourjoomlafolder/administrator and login with your admin details.

You can start creating articles and menu items. My main concern is creating two important menu items and called them: 'Sms Portal' and 'Admin Settings.' Set the access level of the former to 'registered' and access level of the later to 'super users.' You can just link them to any article for now.

When you are done, download akeeba backup component and install it. Use it to backup your joomla website from localhost. Head over to your live server and upload the zipped backup file to your public_html. When you are done, unzip it and then try visit your website and akeeba restore wizard will start. When you have successfully restored or transfered your website from localhost to live server, then head over to smsportalcreator.com and purchase a copy of spc4.

Later...

I asked this question, because learning joomla website building is another ball game. I want us to see if we can dive into bulk sms business proper. Or should we start with joomla website building?

Webmasters / Re: Is It Possible To Build A World Class Website Without Using CSS?? by CreativeWeb(m): 6:02am On Jun 15, 2015
willybiggy:

What ar the basics of css. Cos its giving me headache. Naming a div and stylin d div is anoda issue

Basically, css is used to style your html elements. You define all your divs in your html document and then style them in your css document. However, I hope you know how to link your css and html together. You wil have to use external stylesheet. Add this line of markup in the head of your html document: <link style="stylesheet" href="style.css"/>

Inside your style.css, you will start styling all the html elements. You should also know that html elements can either be BLOCK or INLINE element. Div, p, h1-h6, table, form, etc are block level elements. Image, a, span, etc are inline elements.

To specifically target your html elements, you should give them either an ID or a CLASS. An id must be unique and one per html document. A class can be multiple in an html document.

For instance, if you want a particular div to do a particular unique work, you wil give it an id. But if you want all your divs to have a particular similar behaviour, you will give them a class name.

So if you want to give a div or any element for that matter an id, you will do this in html.

<div id=unique">...</div>

In your stylesheet, you can then style this div like this:

#unique {
background:#000;
color:#fff;
padding:20px;
border:1px solid #eee;
}

By doing this, that div in your html document has taken a new beautiful dimension.

What? That css is uninteresting to you? Guy, you are missing something so sexxy. Css is so sexxy.

Look, in web design and development, html and css are MUST. You can build 101 websites without javascript, but you cannot build a single website without css. It will look horible.

See, HTML is the blocks, cement, plastering and roofing.

CSS is the painting, interior decoration and flowering.

JAVASCRIPT is your ability to close the doors of the house without much effort, start the generator automatically when nepa takes light and makes the room's wall colour to change from green to yellow when anyone touches the wall.

PHP is your ability to have the walls repainted when they are worn out without you reapeating everything. It is your ability to replace the furniture without the initial burden.

Lol

So, in web designing, you start from html >> css >> js/jq >>php/mysql >> wp/jm/dp/etc >> whatever like ruby, python, node.js, angular.js, etc.

So bro, you need css madly. Without css, websites will look bony and terrible.

If you need a stress-free online business you can start, which will guarantee you a steady source of income, then I want to encourage you to start a bulk sms business. You dont need to have a laptop to do this business. If you have any phone that has internet access, you can comfortably do the business. I have a laptop, but I also use my Nokia Asha 200 to do the business on the go. Your major job as the bulk sms admin is to be crediting members that paid for sms units. Just get your portal running, put your bank account details, set your own price and start marketing your bulk sms business. I have some strategies of bulk sms business marketing. I can share them with you. I am also very good in graphics, I can design some handbills for you so that you can print and use it to advertise your portal. You will buy at a very cheap price from us and sell at your own price. If you are consistent and persistent, you can be raking in between 50k to 200k per month. Bulk sms business profit is in Kobo. However, when it's multiplied in thousands or millions, it becomes a huge profit. Let's say you buy at #1.40kobo and sell at #1.7kobo, you will be making 30kobo per sms. If you are able to sell 100,000 sms units per month, then your profit will be 30kobo * 100,000 = #30,000. If you sell upto 500,000 sms units, then your profit will be 150k. And so on. If you can advertise it very well, especially offline, you can land some good mega users on your platform. For istance, I have Fan Milk Nig. Ltd on my platform and some of the big churches in Nigeria. These mega users send high volumes of sms per month.

How do you get started? It's pretty simple. Everything has been figured out for you. Your job is to advertise and make sells. The portal will be designed, developed, integrated and configured for you. You will choose a domain name like this guy: www.embassysms.com and we will register it for you and host it and install bulk sms software for you, configure it and integrate a bulk sms API for you. You will buy from us at a reduced price and you sell at your own price. We can setup everything for you under 48 hours (2 days) and your bulk sms business will start running.

Pls contact me and let's get started. Ask me any question. Thank you.

Webmasters / What Is Your Webdesign Story? by CreativeWeb(m): 7:57pm On Jun 02, 2015
We all have a story or two of how we started as web designers or developers. Can we share our stories? How did you start? What motivated you into web designing? Where did you learn? How far have you gone today?

I started in 2009 (6 years ago). I just started asking myself how websites are built. I was imagining the technology behind websites like yahoo then. I started searching on google, 'how to design a website.' I got lots of info, but I was unable to lay my brain on anything. Everything was sounding like a rocket science to me.

One day, I walked into NIIT at Onitsha and paid for web design training. I was ready to do anything that time just to learn web designing. As the training progressed, I discovered that the guy was not competent enough. It seemed he was doing guess work. I was fed up. I started googling web design training in Nigeria. And I stumbled on a website of a school in Ibadan. They said it's one month training covering html, css, javascript, php and mysql. The training fee was 100k and you must pay 80% before entering class. I was happy. I immediately paid 100% of 100k into their UBA account and headed to Ibadan. I accommodated myself and fed myself for 30 days. I was enthusiastic to learn and become a web designer or developer. But the training turned out to be total crap. Only one guy was handling us. He taught us html and css for almost 3 weeks and the owner of the school just brought one guy and he taught us javascript (only javascript alert). Then one month finished. I later discovered that the owner of the school knew nothing about web design. He only collects money from people and invite some half-baked freelancers to teach. He was a tech 419er.

If it were today, I wil get him arrested and prosecuted.

Well, I came back angry. I was still empty. But with the small knowledge I gathered and reading up on the internet, I even landed a web design job from a church. They paid me 150k. I downloaded free html template and edited it and gave them. They were very happy. But trouble started when they asked me that they want to be updating the website by themselves. I was in trouble because my knowledge was not upto doing a dynamic and cms-powered website. I told them that I wil be updating it for them for free until after six months, they wil start updating. I convinced them that these 6 months period is for free support and update. I wanted to quickly learn php and mysql.

I searched again for where to do the training and found none. So I left for India. It was while in India that I learned more about html, css, jquery, responsive design, php, wordpress and joomla.

Today, I can develop a php web application, but I now focus mainly on doing a wordpress and joomla websites. With my knowledge of coreldraw and photoshop, I design all my graphics. And I am very good in html and css, ui and ux and color theory.

Over to you. Let's hear your story.
