PoliticsNigerian Government Has Failed In Oil And Gas - El-rufai by Creatorchris(op): 5:13pm On Oct 13, 2022
There is no reason why the Nigerian Government should still be in the oil and gas sector. It should just get out, it has failed - El-Rufai

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said there's no reason why the federal Government should still be in the oil and gas sector.

Channels Television reported that, in his speech at the seventh edition of KadInvest, an annual event organised by the Kaduna State Investment Promotion Agency, the Kaduna state Governor noted that some sectors doing well in the country like entertainment, telecoms, fintech and others have no government involvement.

According to the Kaduna state Governor, whatever the government manages turns out bad. El-Rufai who fruther averred that the commercialization of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company in July 2022 has changed nothing, also said that the NNPC is Nigeria’s biggest problem and should be privatized.

The Governor pointed out that  Nigerian Telecommunications Limited achieved nothing until the private sector came in and revolutionalized the telecoms business.

He reportedly also called for the privatization of the power sector so the country can overcome the hydra-headed and decades-long challenges of the sector.

He said;

“I am giving this example so that when I say government should get out of oil and gas, people should not think it is crazy; it is not. There is no reason why the Nigerian Government should still be in the oil and gas sector. It should just get out, it has failed. By every measure it has failed.

“This year, NNPC has not brought N20,000 to the federation account. We are living on taxes. It is PPTs, royalties, income tax and VAT that is keeping this country going because NNPC claims that subsidy has taken all the oil revenues. I don’t believe it.

“So, the government should sell everything in oil and gas sector…The government should get out of everything that is left of electricity, leave it to the private sector, create the environment, the money will come. We did it in the telecoms sector.

“Nothing has changed, it’s just a change in name with limited at the end.

“Nothing has changed, they are still taking our money, declaring profit that we don’t see the dividends.”

PoliticsINEC Reacts On Why It Deleted 2.7 Million Voters Registration by Creatorchris(op): 8:34am On Oct 13, 2022
INEC reacts on why it deleted 2.7 million voters registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday said it detected 2.7 million cases of double registration carried out during the last Continuous Voter Registration and that the affected individuals have been deleted from the voter register.

The INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this at a National Endowment for Democracy event in Washington DC in the United States.

The spokesperson to the Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, confirmed the development to our correspondent.

The chairman, who raised concerns about security challenges across the country, assured stakeholders that the commission will do its best.

He said “It is a perennial issue because, at the end of the day, it is not new but the dimension of the insecurity is new in the sense that in the past, it was localised or confined to a particular part of the country – the North-East but now, it is more widespread.

“We are keeping our eyes, particularly, on the North-West and the South-Eastern part of the country. Elections are conducted by human beings. We worry about the security of our officials, materials, and even the voters themselves. Without them, elections cannot be conducted.”

Prof. Yakubu added that the commission “has spoken to the security agencies and they have assured us that the situation will improve before the elections. So, fingers crossed.”

CrimeNigerian Man Arrested In Cambodia For Allegedly Defrauding Woman Of $5,000 by Creatorchris(op): 11:14am On Oct 12, 2022
Nigerian man arrested in Cambodia for allegedly defrauding woman of $5,000 on Facebook

A 37-year-old Nigerian man has been arrested in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for allegedly defrauding a woman of $5,000 on Facebook.

The suspect identified simply as 'Kel Chi' was arrested on Tuesday morning, October 11, 2022 by the light criminal police department of the Ministry of Interior and sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for legal action.

According to local media, the 24-year-old victim, Un Srey Net, was approached with a Facebook account named Don Richard in August 2022.

The family of the victim sent $5,000 via a remittance service but then became suspicious and contacted authorities, which resulted in the arrest of Mr Chi.
SportsMan City Told When Erling Haaland May Leave For Real Madrid by Creatorchris(op): 10:52am On Oct 11, 2022
Man City told when Erling Haaland may leave for Real Madrid by 'astounded' Graeme Souness

ERLING HAALAND might not be dominating at Manchester City for the long term...

Erling Haaland has been tipped to ditch Manchester City and complete a dream switch to Real Madrid within the duration of his current contract. The seemingly unstoppable Norwegian has already left those not affiliated with Man City desperate for his Premier League exit, and Graeme Souness doesn't think his stay will be long-term.

Pep Guardiola adding Haaland to his chance-creating machine of a side in the summer somewhat guaranteed goals galore. But not many could've expected the destruction the 22-year-old striker has left in his wake in the opening two months of his debut season in England.

Haaland has netted 20 goals in his first 12 games for City, including three hat-tricks in nine Premier League outings. So far, he has only failed to score in a 4-0 win against AFC Bournemouth in gameweek two, in which he registered one of his three assists for the Citizens.

Ahead of the summer, Real were widely tipped to fend off competition and make Haaland their latest Galactico signing. But City took advantage of Los Blancos' unsuccessful long-winded pursuit of Kylian Mbappe to swoop in and persuade him of their sporting project.

However, Souness believes it's only a matter of time before Haaland lands at the Santiago Bernabeu. The former Liverpool star-turned-pundit has predicted that the transfer will go down within the next half-decade, leaving plenty of time for Premier League and Champions League domination but likely far shorter than City fans hope.

He told talkSPORT: "I don't think he has a weakness. He just looks to be the perfect specimen. I also have to say he's in a great team who have the majority of the ball wherever they play, play in the opposition's half and create lots and lots of chances. I think in four or five years, he'll end up at Real Madrid."

PoliticsPolitical Party To Substitute Candidates by Creatorchris(op): 9:35am On Oct 11, 2022
Political parties can’t substitute candidates again - INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that political parties can no longer substitute the candidates whose names have been published on its final list.

The commission which disclosed that the window for the withdrawal and substitution of candidates has closed, added that only dead candidates and those whose nominations are voided by the courts can be substituted. The Nation reported that INEC also revealed that only the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) had approached it to replace Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.

Shekaru was nominated as NNPP’s senatorial candidate for Kano Central before he dumped the party, forcing the NNPP to approach INEC for substitution. INEC rejected NNPP's request because it was made after the window for substitution had elapsed.

Confirming the development, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye said;

“The period for the withdrawal and substitution of candidates has elapsed and the Commission has published the final list of candidates standing nominated for national and state elections.

“At this point in time, a candidate can only get on the list if the duly and validly nominated candidate dies. Any form of withdrawal on grounds of voluntary withdrawal or incapacitation can no longer take place.

“Yes, the Commission is aware of some pending litigations. At the end of the day, the Commission will comply with valid court orders based on constitutional dictates. We urge political parties to focus on their campaigns and rallies as the next big thing in the electoral process.

“The Commission is now focused on making the Permanent Voters Cards available for collection by legally registered persons. The Commission is also focussed at making sure that voters are equitably distributed to the various polling units.

“The Commission will not be distracted with belated requests for withdrawals and substitution of candidates. All the registered political parties have a copy of the Timetable and Schedule of Activities released on the February 26, 2022 and the schedule and timelines are clearly delineated.”

PoliticsI Never Told My Aides To Work Against Peter Obi - Soludo by Creatorchris(op): 7:52pm On Oct 06, 2022
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state has denied asking his aides to work against Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Soludo, in a statement released by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, said the allegation is the handwork of faceless individuals.

The statement reads;

Re: Soludo charges Anambra APGA to Work Against Peter Obi, dreams of Presidency after Atiku

We note with disdain the fallacious and distasteful publication of a write-up with the above heading by a faceless individual(s).

We would have chosen to ignore this mischievous and utterly despicable publication, but for the benefit of a few innocent Ndi Anambra who could be misinformed by the write-up.

The following should, however, be noted:

1) That Governor Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, only held a private meeting with his party members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). This meeting is a routine gathering where issues concerning APGA are discussed.

At no time during the meeting was Mr Peter Obi, a point of discourse.
It is pertinent to note that issues discussed at the meeting were purely issues relating to APGA affairs
We, therefore, urge Ndi-Anambra and members of the general public to completely ignore and disregard the publication in all its entirety

CrimeNigerian National Arrested With 160 Gm Of Heroin In India by Creatorchris(op): 11:43am On Oct 05, 2022
A 28-year-old Nigerian national was arrested for allegedly smuggling 160grams of heroin, Gurugram, India, police said on Tuesday, October 4.

The suspect was arrested on Monday night, October 3, 2022, while on his way to hand over the contraband to a person at a liquor shop near Kherki Daula toll plaza.

Preet Pal Sangwan, assistant commissioner of police (crime), said a crime branch team headed by sub-inspector Amit Kumar had received intelligence input about a foreign national involved in smuggling contraband after which the suspect, identified as 'Fernando Benz', was apprehended.

"Benz was allegedly involved in smuggling drugs in Gurugram from Delhi. He was staying in Dwarka," ACP Sangwan said.

Police said Benz arrived in India from Nigeria on a medical visa in August last year and stays in Delhi’s Dwarka area.

“He was staying in Delhi illegally even after the expiry of the visa period. He has been selling heroin in Delhi and Gurugram for the last six months,"

"He had finalised a deal to buy heroin from a man. When he reached the toll plaza by cab, the crime unit team nabbed him and recovered 160 gm of heroin from his possession," Sangwan added.

An FIR under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Foreigners Act was registered against Benz at Kherki Daula police station on Monday night, police added.

PoliticsVote Buying: INEC To Deploy Undercover Security Operatives To Polling Units by Creatorchris(op): 11:09am On Oct 05, 2022
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rolled out its plan to curb vote buying and increase transparency.

Speaking during the citizens' elections dialogue hosted by YIAGA Africa and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with Channels TV on Tuesday October 4, INEC’s national commissioner, Festus Okoye said they would be deploying undercover security operatives to polling units.

He said;

“This commission is focused and determined to give Nigerians a good election. In terms of the issue of vote buying, the commission has reconfigured the various polling units to guarantee the secrecy of the votes.

“In terms of training of ad-hoc staff, we’ve given them very good training and we’ll continue to train them on how to configure and position the voting cubicle to guarantee the secrecy of the votes.

“We have also made sure that people do not enter the voting compartments with their mobile phones that can take pictures and we’re also collaborating with the different security agencies under the auspices of the inter-agency consultative committee on election security to make sure that plain clothe security personnel are deployed to some polling units on election day to stem the issue of vote buying and vote selling.

“It’s fashionable to grandstand relating to the commitment of the INEC to free, fair and transparent election. But you should also flip back and look at some of the party primaries that some of the political parties conducted and how well they conducted them.

“As far as the commission is concerned, our mandate is to organise, undertake and supervise elections and that’s exactly what we’re going to do and that’s what we’re going to continue to do.”

Okoye also said they would be deploying technology in the electoral process to avoid “human interference”.

He added;

“We deliberately decided to include technology in the electoral process in order to alleviate pernicious human interference in that process.

“We’re going to make sure technology is deployed and we’re also going to make sure that we transmit polling unit results into our INEC viewing portal.”

SportsMan Utd Willing To Table Offer To Finally Sign £320,000 A Week Star – Report by Creatorchris(op): 8:08am On Oct 04, 2022
Manchester United desperately tried to sign priority target, Frenkie de Jong, in the summer transfer window but the player ended up staying at Barcelona.

The latest reports suggest that the Red Devils have not given up on luring the Dutchman and intend to make a new effort.

Read – Man Utd set to press to secure signing of £35million+ forward – Report

According to Spanish source, Fichajes, the Old Trafford outfit are on the attack to hire the services of the 25-year-old midfielder from the Blaugrana.

It is stated that Man Utd are willing to table an offer again to finally sign De Jong, whose situation at the Nou Camp is still uncertain.

The Blaugrana wanted to lure Bernardo Silva from Man City in order to replace the former Ajax man and Xavi is still looking to sign the Portuguese from the Sky Blues.

Last month, Sport revealed that United submitted an important offer for De Jong but he was not interested in leaving and did not even take a pay cut. His huge salary of £320,000 a week (Mirror Sport) is still a concern for the La Liga side.

The 20-time English champions did manage to sign Casemiro but the Brazilian is a natural play breaker and not someone who usually connects the midfield to the attack.

In the current campaign, De Jong has warmed the bench more often than not. So far, he has only started 3 games in the league, and 1 in the Champions League because Xavi has preferred Gavi, Pedri and Busquests in the center of the park.

The Netherlands international excelled in the Eredivisie under the guidance of Erik ten Hag. In your view, should he reunite with the manager at Old Trafford to find his best form?

Here is the full text of President Buhari's speech on Nigeria’s 62nd independence anniversary. Read below...

INDEPENDENCE DAY ADDRESS BY MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA DELIVERED ON THE OCCASION OF NIGERIA’S 62ND INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION ON 1ST OCTOBER, 2022

Fellow Nigerians,

I address you today, with a deep sense of gratitude to God and a high level of appreciation to all Nigerians whose tremendous goodwill gave me the opportunity to provide leadership for our great country at one of the trying times in her history.

2.Conscious that today’s address would be my last on an Independence Day as your President; I speak to the millions of Nigerians, who believed in me, propelled and stood by me in my quest to bequeath a country where all citizens have equal opportunities to achieve their lives desires in a peaceful atmosphere.

3.I am honoured to say that my story in the annals of Nigeria’s history is no household secret. My various attempts, failures and eventual success in being elected as a Democratic President in 2015 was made possible by the majority of Nigerians.

4. When you elected me, I readily acknowledged that the tasks before me were daunting but surmountable because of the growing national consensus that our chosen route to national development was democracy.

5.This democracy was to be anchored on a clear understanding, application and the principles of separation of powers supported by a reformed public service that is more effective.

6.I then pledged to Improve the Economy, Tackle Corruption and Fight Insecurity and this was further strengthened by my commitment to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in ten years as the central plank of my second term in 2019.

7.To the Glory of God and His Grace as well as the commitment and passion displayed by many Nigerian supporters, we have made appreciable progress in these areas but not yet at our destination.

8.Mindful of the task before us, we took some time in settling down and we re-positioned the Economy by providing strategic interventions in core areas at both the Federal and Sub-National levels.

9.One of the areas where we have made significant progress is in the eradication of deeply entrenched corruption that permeates all facets of our national development.

10.We strengthened the Institutions for tackling corruption and also cultivated international support, which aided the repatriation of huge sums of money illegally kept outside the country.

11.The increasing number of prosecutions and convictions, with associated refunds of large sums of money is still ongoing. Furthermore, we would continue to block opportunities that encourage corrupt practices.

12.In order to address Insecurity, we worked methodically in reducing Insurgency in the North East, Militancy in the Niger Delta, Ethnic and Religious Tensions in some sections of Nigeria along with other problems threatening our country.

13.Our efforts in re-setting the economy manifested in Nigeria exiting two economic recessions by the very practical and realistic monetary and fiscal measures to ensure effective public financial management. In addition, the effective implementation of the Treasury Single Account and cutting down on the cost of governance also facilitated early exits from recessions.

14.Fellow Nigerians, this administration removed several decades uncertainty for potential Investors in the Oil & Gas sector with the passage of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021. This landmark legislation created opportunities for foreign investments in addition to improving transparency in the management of the sector.

15.Our administration has given the desired priority to the Agricultural Sector through a series of incentives to Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises that resulted in creating millions of jobs. Leading this initiative, the Central Bank of Nigeria’s intervention in a number of areas as well as the Anchor Borrowers Programme had created the required leverages for Nigerians towards self-sufficiency in food and the necessary attraction for farming as a business.

16.The growing contribution of non-oil exports, especially in agriculture, information and communication technology as well as the performing arts to our national economy will enhance our foreign exchange earning capacity.

17.We are confronting current economic challenges such as debt burden, growing inflation, living standards and increasing unemployment accentuated by our growing youthful population. These problems are globally induced and we would continue to ensure that their negative effects are addressed in our policies.

18.This administration will continue to ensure that our fiscal policies are supported by a robust and contemporary monetary policy that recognises our peculiarities in the midst of the growing global economic difficulties.

19.This is evidenced by the recent Monetary Policy Committee decision to maintain all parameters, especially interest rates and marginally increased the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) from 14% to 15.5% and the Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) from 27.5% to 32.5%. It is projected that this would further insulate our economy from over exposure to uncertainties at the international market by restraining growth in core inflation.

20.As we continue to de-escalate the security challenges that confronted us at inception of this administration, newer forms alien to our country began to manifest especially in the areas of kidnappings, molestations/killings of innocent citizens, banditry, all of which are being addressed by our security forces.

21.I share the pains Nigerians are going through and I assure you that your resilience and patience would not be in vain as this administration continues to reposition as well as strengthen the security agencies to enable them to deal with all forms of security challenges.

22.At the inception of this administration in 2015, I provided the funding requirements of the security agencies which was also improved in my second tenure in 2019 to enable them to surmount security challenges. We will continue on this path until our efforts yield the desired results.

23. As we put in place all measures to ensure that Nigeria takes her place in the Comity of Nations, we recognize the importance of a well-educated populace as a panacea to most of the challenges we face.

24.We have, therefore, pursued policies and implemented programmes designed to create a literate and proficient society that ensures that citizens are availed with opportunities for life-long achievements.

25.I must confess that I am very pained by the recurring disruption to our tertiary education system and I am using this Independence Day celebration to re-iterate my call for the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to return to the classroom while assuring them to deal with their contending issues within the limits of the scarce resources available. This administration has made appreciable progress in redressing these issues that have been lingering for over eleven years.

26.The Federal Government will continue to mobilize resources both internationally and nationally towards funding education to ensure that our citizens are well educated and skilled in various vocations in view of the fact that education is a leading determinant of economic growth and employment generation.

27.Fellow Nigerians, we have also improved our health facilities, especially during and after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which attracted commendation of the global community.

28.As you are aware, Nigeria was one of the countries that defied global predictions of the socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic because of our resilience, commitment and passion with which we individually and collectively managed the pandemic.

29.This administration embarked on addressing critical ecological challenges across the country in order to mitigate the impact of Climate Change manifesting in the form of flood, soil erosion, desertification, air pollution amongst others

30.We will continue to ensure that our infrastructure drive remains the key to Nigeria’s economic growth and for which every Nigerian will feel the impact.

31.The Federal Government is already expanding ports operations to ensure that they provide opportunities for the growth of the Nigerian economy.

32.We have also continued to accelerate our infrastructure development through serviceable and transparent borrowing, improved capital inflow & increased revenue generation by expanding the tax bases and prudent management of investment proceeds in the Sovereign Wealth Fund.

33.To further open up our communities to economic activities, we have continued to boost our railway infrastructure with the completion of a good number of critical railways and at the same time rehabilitating as well as upgrading obsolete equipment.

34.I am pleased to inform my fellow citizens that besides our emphasis on infrastructural development with its attendant opportunities for job creation, employment generation and subsequent poverty reduction, our focussed intervention directly to Nigerians through the National Social Investment Programme is also yielding benefits.

35.There is hardly any ward, village or local government in Nigeria today that has not benefited from one of the following: N-Power, trader-moni, market moni, subsidized loans, business grants or Conditional Cash Transfers.

36.All the aforementioned programmes along with various interventions by the National Social Investment programme, direct support to victims of flooding and other forms of disasters have provided succor to the affected Nigerians.

37.Fellow Nigerians, no matter what gains we make, without a good governance system anchored on electing credible leaders on the basis of free, fair, credible and transparent elections, our efforts would not be enough.

38.It is for this reason that I have resolved to bequeath a sustainable democratic culture which will remain lasting. The signing of the Electoral Act 2021 as amended with landmark provisions further assures us of a more transparent and inclusive Electoral Process.

39.Having witnessed at close quarters, the pains, anguish and disappointment of being a victim of an unfair electoral process, the pursuit of an electoral system and processes that guarantee election of leaders by citizens remains the guiding light as I prepare to wind down our administration.

40.You would all agree that the recent elections in the past two years in some states (notably Anambra, Ekiti and Osun) and a few federal constituencies have shown a high degree of credibility, transparency and freedom of choice with the people’s votes actually counting. This I promise would be improved upon as we move towards the 2023 General Elections.

41.As we begin the transition process to another democratically elected government, I want to implore all aspirants to conduct issues-based campaigns devoid of hate speeches as well as other negative and divisive tendencies.

42.I also want to express my wish that we see more female and youth participation in the forth-coming electoral cycle. I am sure that our teeming and energetic youths now realise that violence generally mar elections and so should desist from being used by politicians for this purpose.

43.Reforms in the public sector are already yielding results especially in the delivery of services. On this note, I urge the general public to demand for citizen-centred services from the relevant authorities.

44.On the international front, we have continued to take advantage of our bilateral and multilateral platforms to explore cooperation with friendly countries and partners whenever these areas of cooperation are to the advantage of Nigeria.

45.Fellow Nigerians, in the past few years we have witnessed and overcome a good number of challenges that would ordinarily have destroyed our Nation. However, the indefatigable spirit of the Nigerian people has ensured that we overcome our challenges.

46.It is in this spirit that I call on all of us to individually and collectively bring to the fore in dealing with all our development issues.

47.I was called to serve, along with my team, I saw an opportunity to create a better Nigeria which we have done with the support of Nigerians. Almighty God and the good people of Nigeria supported us in laying a solid foundation for the Nigeria of our dreams.

I thank you all and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Kylian Mbappe reportedly doesn't want Neymar in the PSG team at all and is surprised by liberties he takes at the club

A new report has revealed the deteriorating relationship between PSG stars Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

L'Equipe reports that the pair's relationship 'has gone from cool to polar' this season in a serious threat to the team's harmony.

According to the reports, Mbappe, 23, who signed a new bumper contract this summer to keep him at the club, does not want the Brazilian in the team at all, while Neymar, 30, has been 'left astonished by the influence Mbappe has been given.'

It went on to say that Mbappe would not have minded if Neymar, who has been with the French champions since 2017, was sold over the summer as new football advisor Luis Campos reshaped the squad.

However, that departure did not occur, and Neymar has come to believe that Mbappe was a driving force in convincing the management to sell him.

According to the report, the two players put on smiles in public and celebrate goals together to pretend everything is fine, but things have reportedly turned very frosty behind the scenes.

According to L'Equipe, Lionel Messi has been acting as a mediator to keep PSG's season on track.

In August, the pair got into an argument over a penalty during PSG's win over Montpellier.

Mbappe had missed a penalty earlier in the game and assumed he would get another when PSG was awarded another.

Neymar, on the other hand, took over and converted from 12 yards. Mbappe later scored a goal but refused to celebrate, infuriating his teammates.

Mbappe said after France defeated Austria, 'I have a lot more freedom here [with France].' It's different in Paris; there isn't that. It's new for me to be asked to pivot.'

After Brazil defeated Ghana in Le Havre, Neymar was questioned about his relationship with Mbappe. He then left the interview area after responding, 'with Kylian?'

During PSG's 5-2 win over Montpellier in August, the pair argued on the field about penalty duties.

PoliticsReps To Dialogue With Buhari Next Week Over ASUU Strike - Gbajabiamila by Creatorchris(op): 9:00am On Sep 30, 2022
The House of Representatives leadership will meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss resolving the ongoing dispute between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, who made the announcement following a meeting with stakeholders, stated that they will share a report of their interactions with key stakeholders in the dispute and make recommendations that will allow the President to view the issues at stake from an informed second option.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Sen Chris Ngige; the Head of the Federation's Civil Service, Folashade Yemi-Esan; the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Sylva Okolieaboh; the Director General of the Federation's Budget Office, Ben Akabueze; and the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NIT ASUU's delegation was also present, led by its president, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke.

Gbajabiamila urged both sides to give in and make concessions from their initial demands, emphasizing that the interests of the children at the receiving end of the trade dispute should take precedence.

He stated;

"We will gather our recommendations and thoughts and present them to Mr. President; that is why we are here to interact and seek solutions."

"Once again, we are running a government, and nobody, no individual, no group, whether legislative, judiciary, or whatever, can be above the government, above the law."

"We can't be against, and I'm specifically addressing ASUU, we didn't say because the court has given judgment, that's the end of our conversation." Despite the court ruling, we are still looking for solutions; we haven't even addressed it here, and I don't want to.

"Otherwise, we could've said, if the government has rendered judgment, I'm not sure if there's a stay of execution, I'm not sure."

"We are appealing to you because the Judiciary has spoken, the Executive has spoken, and the Legislature is about to speak with the Executive; nobody can be wrong and only one person is correct." For me, the UTAS solution is satisfactory; there is no victor or vanquished; everyone is carried along.

"For the sake of emphasis, the House begs you to put all interests aside and consider our children's interests."

"The white paper we promised you, the letter is here, and it is now awaiting the President's final approval."

"On revitalization, I asked the DG budget here if there was any provision in the budget." We made a promise to you, and we intend to keep it.

"With regard to the UTAS issue, you stated that you hadn't seen the report; we have it here, so we've been working for you.">>>>
