Crime2023: Tinubu Warns Nigerians Against Voting ‘another Mistake’ Into Power by Creatorchris(op): 4:40pm On Sep 29, 2022
Mr Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos, also urged the people to be ‘wise and discerning as they prepared to choose the country’s next president in the 2023 general election. “We must show that we have learned from the mistakes of the past. We must be prepared to make difficult decisions. We must be wise, we must be discerning; we must choose progress. We must favour reason over sentiment,” Mr Tinubu said in a message to mark the official commencement of the 2023 presidential election campaign activities across the country.

Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today officially lifted the ban on campaign activities for the political parties ahead of the next year’s election.

INEC, last weekend, released and published the names and details of the political party’s candidates qualified to participate in the poll.

Mr Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) who are the top contenders in the race, to take over incumbent president Muhammadu Buhari, were listed among the candidates for the presidential election.

Since the former Lagos governor joined the race to succeed Mr Buhari, his health status has been a major concern with many Nigerians, especially critics questioning his suitability for headship of a country that prides itself as a ‘giant of Africa’.

Several videos of Mr Tinubu, 70, have revealed how the APC presidential candidate was suffering incontinence apparently due to his frail health. Nigerians have likened Mr Tinubu’s health to the prevailing situation with incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari, who has spent a significant portion of his eight-year rule frequencing European hospitals. Mr Buhari said his ailment was largely due to his advanced age, which had naturally made some aspects of his presidential duties more tedious.

Despite this, Mr Tinubu said he was ready to lead the country to greater glory through innovative ideas, pleading with  Nigerians to join him in his ambition of clinching the country’s top seat.

He said he and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, are set to share their vision of a prosperous Nigeria as they begin their campaigns of convincing the people to vote them to power.

“I invite all Nigerians to join me and HE Senator Kassim Shettima on this exciting and important journey as we set our shared vision of renewed hope for the people of our dear country, Nigeria.

“I am prepared and ready, with my running mate, to provide the leadership that will inspire our country to greater glory with new thinking, innovative ideas, and vision. I call on all Nigerians to please join us,” the APC presidential candidate added in the statement.

“We will, in weeks and months ahead, be taking our dream of a functional, safe, secure, and prosperous Nigeria to every part of Nigeria and as we continue to put forward our plan to lead this country towards its best future.”

Mr Tinubu further explained, “Our nation stands at a threshold of history. We, like almost every other nation in the world, face significant challenges. Some have been our own making, others, the consequences of factors well beyond the control of any Nigerian. One thing, however, remains certain, we cannot afford to get this one wrong.”

The adoption of a Muslim-Muslim ticket by Mr Tinubu has also been a major odd for the APC as the party prepared to start its campaign.

Although the APC presidential candidate flying Mr Shettima, a serving senator, with the same faith ticket has generated criticism, both politicians maintained the move was based on merit rather than religious consideration.

CrimeIn Bauchi, A Fake Doctor Was Arrested After Allegedly Killing A Former APC Ward by Creatorchris(op): 4:00pm On Sep 28, 2022
The Joint Taskforce Base 14 in Boi, Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State has arrested a fake medical doctor, Andrew Godwin, over the death of a patient, according to the Nigerian Tribune.

The suspect, who is from Nasarawa state, was arrested on September 25, 2022, for performing an unsuccessful surgery that resulted in the death of the 45-year-old patient, Joshua Haruna.

The deceased, a resident of Gambar Lere in the LGA, was the former APC ward Chairman of Bogoro's Boi C ward and the Campaign Coordinator for Sen. Lawal Yahaya Gumau until his death.

According to the publication, the suspect has been living in Tafawa Balewa's Gambar Sabon Layi for a few years, where he conducts his illegal business on unsuspecting members of the public.

The suspect works as a medical chemist but does not have a medical certificate or approval from the relevant authorities to do so.

He was said to have cut open his patient's stomach and left it open until the next day.

According to an unconfirmed community report, Mr Andrew Godwin performed unsuccessful surgery on many people who died as a result of the complications.

According to the JTF officer who arrested him, the fake health worker was turned over to the Bogoro Division Police for further investigation.

Because Gambar Sabon Layi is in Tafawa Balewa LGA and Gambar Lere is in Bogoro LGA, the case has been transferred to Tafawa Balewa Police Station.

PoliticsOrtom Breaks With Wike, Says He’s Not Supporting Ayu’s Removal by Creatorchris(op): 11:11am On Sep 27, 2022
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has dismissed insinuations that he is in support of the removal of the National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu, saying it is impossible for him to advocate the removal of someone he helped to appoint.

This is however in contrast to his earlier position for the demands made by his close friend and Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike that Ayu be removed as the chairman of the party. Ortom is part of the Wike camp that has demanded for the removal of Ayu, a Northerner after Atiku Abubakar who is also a northerner emerged the party's presidential candidate. Wike and his group insists that Ayu cannot remain in office since the party's presidential flagbearer is of Northern extraction.

The governor said it was an open secret that he worked tirelessly, alongside other prominent Benue citizens, to ensure that Ayu was elected “as the national chairman of our great party even against all odds.”

To this extent, the statement said, “The governor could not, therefore, turn around to work against him to be removed from office.”

He described as mischievous the allegations by ''an amorphous, little known group parading itself as Jemgbagh Development Association, Abuja chapter'' that he has a hand in Ayu’s current travails”.

Ortom maintained that with the backing of many leaders of the PDP, who believed his sense of judgment, they worked relentlessly in the run-up to the party’s national convention to market Ayu as having the requisite capacity to lead PDP, especially, in the 2023 general election.

“Governor Ortom vouched for the integrity and capacity of Dr Iyorchia Ayu to lead and rebuild the PDP to victory and rescue Nigeria from the misrule of the APC maladministration. That is why Ayu was returned unopposed by the northern caucus of the party and got elected as the national chairman of the PDP at the party’s convention.

Where was Jemgbagh Development Association, when Governor Ortom galvanised support from across the leaders of the party to make Dr. Ayu PDP’s National Chairman? What was their contribution to that project that they now want to use clannish stance to blackmail the governor?”

He further described as laughable how “this amorphous and emergency Jemgbagh Development Association, Abuja, which has never been heard of before, is now masquerading as the voice of Jemgbagh to embark on campaign of calumny against Governor Ortom, who has worked selflessly for the people of Benue State.

“Governor Ortom is more Jemgbagh than most of the people claiming it now. This is fact, because he has done more for Jemgbagh, both in terms of appointments and projects executed as well as patronage in the area, than even one of the Jemgbagh sons, who was governor. Besides, Governor Ortom has consistently worked for the unity of Benue State and will never stand in the way of any of her citizens, either here in the state or in the diaspora

For those, who claimed to be leaders of this Jemgbagh Development Association, Abuja, we urge them to be truly developmental in their drive to build cohesion among the people and attract real development to their area rather than engaging in mischief or blackmail.”

Pat Utomi has challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to undergo a medical examination and make the results public.

Tinubu, according to the Labour Party chieftain, is unfit, and the nation has suffered as a result of having sick leaders.

Pat Utomi made the call to Tinubu on Channels Television's Politics Today on Monday, September 26.

"Our country has suffered so much from having ailing leaders," said the political economist. That's why the Vice President stepped forward.

"American Presidents undergo medical examinations that are made public." Allow him (Tinubu) to seek medical attention from Nigerian doctors and make the results public.

"We're dealing with the lives of millions of people."

He went on to say, "The Vice President (Yemi Osinbajo) would have been a good choice." You can tell he's sick (Tinubu). Let's be honest, let's not kill ourselves."

PoliticsFG Order Vcs To Reopen Universities, Immediately by Creatorchris(op): 12:15pm On Sep 26, 2022
The Federal Government, through the National Universities Commission (NUC), has directed Vice-Chancellors of Federal Universities to reopen and resume lectures.

The letter, addressed to all vice-chancellors; pro-chancellors and chairmen of governing councils of federal universities, was signed by the Director, Finance and Accounts of the NUC, Sam Onazi on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the commission, Prof Abubakar Rasheed.

“Ensure that ASUU members immediately resume/commence lectures; Restore the daily activities and routines of the various University campuses,” the letter reads.

Last week, Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige hinted that the government may direct the reopening of federal universities following the ruling of the National Industrial Court.

The court had ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities to return to work in line with section 17 of the Trade Dispute Act 2004.

However, on Friday, ASUU, through lawyers, filed an appeal and stay of execution of the NIC order.
PoliticsNorthern Bishops Who Met Tinubu Are Disowned By The Pentecostal Fellowship by Creatorchris(op): 11:05am On Sep 26, 2022
Northern Bishops who met Tinubu are disowned by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria.

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has condemned the "Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria" for meeting with Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate (APC).

Bishop David Bakare, Deputy National Secretary of the PFN, stated that the PFN is an arm of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and that the association's position on the APC's same faith presidential ticket has not changed.

On Sunday, September 25, Bakare stated that the PFN was unaware of the "Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria," adding that "there is nothing in PFN that is regionally based like Southern or Northern Pentecostal Bishops."

"There is no connection between Tinubu and the Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria." I am officially and authoritatively stating that the ranks of the Christian community, as well as the PFN, which I represent, are not broken at all.

"The Northern Nigeria Pentecostal Bishops Forum is unknown to the PFN." The forum has no affiliation or relationship with the PFN registered with the government of this country."

He went on to say that the PFN's position "on the same faith ticket remains as it was in the beginning, and we have not, for any reason, shifted our position on that matter...

"The PFN did not attend the highly politicized meeting with the presidential candidate." We are, however, aware of the public discourse on this subject. I'm speaking publicly to state unequivocally that the PFN has nothing to do with that organization.

"We did not make such a decision, we have not met with that political party, and whatever we do will be public." That group exists independently and has nothing to do with the actual incorporated PFN. I looked at the photos and names from the meeting. I recognized about two of our members, but their words speak for themselves."

EFCC can freeze state government's accounts - Appeal court rules

The Federal Court of Appeal, Makurdi Division, has overturned the judgment of the Federal High Court, Makurdi holding the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from freezing the account of Benue State Government for the purpose of investigations, without a court order.

In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice M.S. Hassan on Thursday, September 22, 2022, the appellate court held that, the EFCC has powers to place any account, (state governments' accounts inclusive) on PND for 72hours, for the purpose of investigations, without a court order. The court also set aside the N50million damages awarded against the EFCC by the lower court.

Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon of the Federal High Court, Makurdi, had on Tuesday, February 2, 2019 delivered a judgment, holding the EFCC from placing a PND on the account of Benue State government. Dissatisfied with the judgment, the Commission approached the Court of Appeal.

EFCC counsel, Steve Odiase, canvassed strong arguments against the earlier judgment and the appellate court held that the EFCC acted within its powers to freeze the account of Benue State government.

The court also held that banks are legally bound to obey orders from the EFCC on PND.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has revealed that the All Progressive Congress' presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, wooed him to join the party.

On Friday, September 23, Wike stated that Tinubu offered him a senatorial ticket, which he declined, despite the fact that Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar failed to fulfill his promise after winning the party's primary election.

He stated that he did not run in the primary to secure a vice-presidential or senatorial ticket and will remain a member of the PDP.

Wike stated;

"I did not contest to become a vice presidential candidate; I am not like others who were not serious and bought senatorial forms alongside presidential forms, which is why when Tinubu offered me a senate seat, I declined."

This comes months after some APC-elected governors met with Wike in Port Harcourt, Rivers State's capital, ahead of the 2023 elections.

PDP was suppose to zone her ticket to SE but Wike machinations made the Party to throw the contest open. Hence Peter Obi left the party in frustration. The north then rallied together to teach Wike a lesson using Atiku.
If Wike decides to back Tinubu, the same north will rally together to ensure that Atiku wins the 2023 election.
