Tinubu money wreaking havoc in Enugu - APC governor candidate


Uchenna Nnaji, the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate in Enugu State, has claimed that presidential contender Asiwaju Bola Tinubu's campaign money is generating uncertainty in the state.

According to Nnaji, the funds should be maintained until the time comes to campaign for the 2023 general elections in order to avoid party destabilization.

Nnaji stated this during an emergency stakeholders meeting held at the party's South-East zonal headquarters.

"The present turmoil in the APC in Enugu is all over Tinubu's campaign funds." The so-called stakeholders are vying for control and the distribution of Tinubu's funds.



"We do not want the campaign funds of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, to be used to prosecute the 2023 general election in Enugu State." We will utilize Enugu APC resources to prosecute the election in 2023, and the party will reimburse us after the election. Tinubu's money is fueling the problem in the Enugu APC.

"After this emergency meeting, I will travel to Abuja tomorrow (Monday) to inform the party's national chairman that we do not want campaign funding." I'll visit with our presidential candidate, Tinubu, on Tuesday and tell him the same thing."

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has denied having a deal with APC presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on the contentious Muslim-Muslim Ticket.

Luminous Jannamike, the association's Special Assistant on Media, stated this in a statement headlined, 'Muslim-Muslim Ticket: CAN Maintains Its Position.'

This was claimed by CAN in response to a news that Tinubu met with the association's leadership over the issue surrounding the party's pick of a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 general elections.

Tinubu nominated Senator Kashim Shettima, a fellow Muslim, as his running partner for the 2023 presidential election.

CAN insisted that it had not modified its stance on the disputed APC's Muslim-Muslim ticket, a move that infuriated the country's Christian majority.


Tinubu's participation and gift at last week's 70th birthday celebration of Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, should not be interpreted as a financial enticement bribe to pacify the Christian community, according to the organization.

NNPCL: fuel will be sold at N462/litre without subsidy.


Petrol would cost N462 per litre without subsidies, according to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

It stated that the average worldwide market-determined landing cost was $1,283 per metric tonne in the second quarter of this year.
According to the company, the cost of marketing and distribution is N46 per litre.

On the premise of 60 million litres of daily premium motor spirit (PMS or petrol) supply, the cost factors add up to a retail pump price of N462/litre, an average subsidy of N297/litre, and an annual estimate of N6.5 trillion.

The NPPC offered to submit itself for a forensic audit of fuel supply and subsidy management.

It insisted that the daily fuel supply is 68 million litres.

In a statement by Group General Manager, Mallam Garba Deen Muhammad, the NNPC said the average supply corresponded with the imports.

He was reacting to last Thursday’s comments by Comptroller-General of Customs Hameed Ali, who said he found it hard to understand why the NNPC, which put Nigeria’s daily fuel consumption at 60 million litres, releases 98 million litres into the market.

He spoke during an interactive session with the House of Representatives Committee on Finance on the 2023-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Frame and Fiscal Strategy Paper.

Ali said: “If we are consuming 60 million litres of PMS per day by their own computation, why would you allow the release of 98 million litres per day?

“If you know this is our consumption, why would you allow that release?

"Scientifically, you cannot tell me that if I fill my tank today, tomorrow I will fill the same tank with the same quantity of fuel.

“If I am operating a fuel station today and I go to Minna depot, lift petrol and take it to Kaduna, I may get to Kaduna in the evening and offload that fuel.


“There is no way I would have sold off that petrol immediately to warrant another load.

“So, how did you get to 60 million litres per day? That is my question.

“On the issue of smuggling, if you release 98 million litres in actual and 60 million litres is used, the balance should be 38 million litres.

“How many trucks will carry 38 million litres every day? Which road are they following and where are they carrying this thing to?”


Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, speaking when she appeared before the panel on August 18, put the projected daily payment for fuel subsidy at N18.39 billion.

“The total amount of subsidy per day is N18.397 billion per day,” she said “So, if you are projecting for the full year, it would be N6.715 trillion. If you are projecting for half a year, it would be 50 per cent of that.”

According to the minister, this was calculated using the information provided by the NNPC.

She said the information showed that 64.96 million litres of fuel are the projected average daily truck out.

She also said N1.774 trillion was paid to independent oil marketers as subsidy in four years.

Yesterday, the NPPC said between January and August 2022, “the total volume of PMS imported into the country was 16.46 billion litres, which translates to an average supply of 68 million litres per day”.

It added: “Similarly, import in the year 2021 was 22.35 billion litres, which translated to an average supply of 61 million litres per day”.

The NNPC said the average daily evacuation (depot truck out) from January to August 2022 “stands at 67million litres per day as reported by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA)”.

It added: “Daily evacuation (depot load outs) records of the NMDPRA do carry daily oscillation ranging from as low as four million litres to as high as 100 million litres per day.”

The company said rising crude oil prices and PMS supply costs above the NMDPRA cap had caused oil marketing companies’ withdrawal from PMS import since the fourth quarter of 2017.

“In the light of these challenges, NNPC has remained the supplier of last resort and continues to transparently report the monthly PMS cost under-recoveries to the relevant authorities,” it said.

On cost, NNPC said the average international market-determined landing cost in Q2 2022 was US$1,283/MT, while the approved marketing and distribution cost is N46/litre.

Dino Melaye responds to Fani-claim Kayode's that the PDP has no food for the lazy in 2023.

Senator Dino Melaye, the spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign, has slammed former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, claiming that the party does not cater to the lazy.

The presidential consent was communicated by Ekpo Nta, the head of the National Salaries, Income, and Wages Commission.


According to the circular notifying the approval, it went into effect on September 1.

The breakdown is as follows: GL 01-04 and its equivalent N10,000 per diem; GL 05-06 and its equal N15,000; and GL 07-10 and its equivalent N17,500.

N20,000 for GL 12-13; N25,000 for GL 14-15; and N37,500 for GL 16-17.

Permanent secretaries and their equivalents are paid N70,000 per diem; Ministers, SGFs, and HCSFs are paid N80,000 per diem.

"The CFCB First Chamber also observed that another 19 clubs that participated in the 2021/22 UEFA club competitions, namely Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea FC, FC Barcelona, FC Basel 1893, 1.FC Union Berlin, Fenerbahçe SK, Feyenoord, Leicester City FC, Manchester City FC, Olympique Lyonnais, Rangers, Real Betis Balompié, Royal Antwerp FC, Sevilla FC, SS Lazio, SSC Napoli because they have previously achieved good break-even results (T-3 and T-4).


"The CFCB First Chamber notified these clubs that these special COVID deductions and consideration of prior financial outcomes will no longer be available beginning in fiscal year 2023. These clubs have been requested for further financial information and will be closely monitored in the next term. Police arrests Rapper Ice Prince for driving without license plate and abducting an officer

There was an uneasy calm among members of the Ogun Assembly over his arrest with some wondering if they may be affected by it.


In suit N0.FHC/AB/CS/7/2022 dated 14th January 2022, the Assembly prayed for an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the EFCC from taking further steps, including but not limited to inviting, interrogating, imposing obligations and demanding or requiring the attendance of the plaintiffs/applicants in connection with the criminal allegation made against the speaker and some others by an aggrieved member of the Assembly.


The Assembly also sought alternatively to relief one (1) above order of interlocutory injunction directing the EFCC to maintain status quo as of 1st December 2021 and or stay all actions relating to the criminal investigation made by an aggrieved member against the plaintiffs, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit filed by the plaintiffs.

The Assembly followed it with a letter to the anti-graft agency, reminding the EFCC that it is legally barred from taking any steps or decision against them until their suit is decided by the court.

“Without prejudice to formal service of the relevant processes by the court bailiffs, this letter serves as clear and unequivocal notice to the EFCC that a motion for interlocutory injunction is currently pending before the court.


“By virtue of the attached (especially Annexure 2), EFCC is legally barred from giving effect to its invitation letter dated 5 January, 2022 or from taking any further steps of any kind against my clients regarding the underlying investigation, until the application is decided by the court.

“As you are surely aware, once a dispute has been submitted to the Court’s consideration for adjudication, parties must not usurp the court’s powers to resolve the matter submitted or do anything that may make the decision of the court nugatory. A respondent in an application is particularly obligated to await the outcome of the application and not resort to self-help, foist a completed act on the Court, or conduct itself as if no processes are pending,” the suit notice partly stated.

The matter is still pending and is not clear if the injunctions sought by Oluomo and other members of the Assembly collectively were granted or not.

What is clear is that the efforts could not restrain the EFCC from arresting the Ogun Speaker.
