Dave Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi State, has stated that Peter Obi and his Labour Party would not be able to defeat the incumbent All Progressives Congress in the 2023 presidential election. He, on the other hand, expressed joy at what the former Anambra governor was accomplishing with his Obedient campaign. According to him, the Obidients' buzz has demonstrated that the South-East can no longer be ignored when it comes to the president. "What occurred during the PDP and APC primaries was a form of miscalculation by our people," Umahi added, "but to say if they're ready for the president of the nation anytime, I think Peter Obi's movement is an eye-opener, and that's why I said I admire what he's doing." I'm heartened by what he's doing because if he weren't doing it, Southeast would have been forgotten. "So, although my party wins, he would have laid a very excellent foundation for the Southeast presidency, so that nobody writes us off, and you can see the degree of his acceptance, which does not equate to victory over APC, I'm confident of it." But it's a positive movement that reassures the people of the Southeast and the entire country that we're welcomed and will one day be President of this country. This is critical. "All movements, including Peter Obi's, are grounded on God's will; only God knows who will triumph, but there must be a wish." As a party member, I hope our party wins, and if God says no, I hope Peter Obi wins because I believe firmly, and I will say it anywhere, in this north/south presidency. "There is no moral reason for demanding additional eight years after the North has taken eight years; it should go to the South." So I'm not going to wish Peter Obi away. God has the last word, He has the authority, and He grants to whom He pleases." Stop being a bystander; you can engage in political activities as well. Manchester City will take to the Etihad on Wednesday five nights after they were supposed to take on bogey team Tottenham It seemed too good to be true, and it turns out that it was - albeit for circumstances outside of Manchester City's control. The Blues had already blasted their way back from the jaws of defeat to beat one of their bogey sides when they downed Crystal Palace last month. And the fixtures and the formbook were aligning to mean Pep Guardiola could also have denied his biggest irritant Tottenham just seven matches into the Premier League season. Antonio Conte's team have looked excellent so far this season after a terrific summer transfer window, and 'Lads, it's Tottenham' does have a very different meaning at the Etihad than it did for Sir Alex Ferguson's United. But, with Erling Haaland smashing in his 11th and 12th goals in seven games during a 4-0 win over Sevilla, City had every right to be confident that this could be a prime opportunity to put Spurs to the sword and send a message to the rest of the Premier League. Instead, they will simply be training this weekend behind closed doors after the Premier League decided to postpone the upcoming set of fixtures following the death of the Queen. With the funeral set to be in the not-too-distant future, next weekend's games are also in doubt owing more to logistical rather than sentimental reasons. There are many more people to feel sorry for in the postponements than a super-rich Premier League football club: once again, tens of thousands of supporters and workers up and down the country will be left out of pocket by the late decision and too much food that will already have been set for this weekend will be wasted. In a cost-of-living crisis, such snap decisions will really hurt. But if there can't be too large a violin for Guardiola and his players, cancelling one and potentially two league fixtures would see them lose the momentum they have built. City have started the season in bright fashion while Liverpool - the team expected to challenge them for the title - really haven't. After losing 4-1 in Naples, Jurgen Klopp faced a real battle to regroup his players for the next two gameweeks whereas City were looking to continue their form. The margins could be significant at the end of an unprecedented season given the winter World Cup. City can at least do what they are not used to doing and thank UEFA, given their home match against Dortmund on Wednesday will go ahead as scheduled. The fixture will keep the players in the rhythm of playing with each other, and victory will see them take charge of the group ahead of a doubleheader with Copenhagen after the international break. If there aren't any more opportunities to make Premier League progress before the last pre-World Cup break, at least the Blues have the chance to kick on in Europe. |

Senator Walid Jibrin has resigned as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party's Board of Trustees (BoT) (PDP). Jibrin announced his decision during the ongoing PDP BoT meeting in Abuja. This, he claims, is to ensure that the PDP's nominee, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, wins the 2023 election. Following the departure of Walid Jibrin, a former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, has been designated acting Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, The PUNCH learned on Thursday. He has also been appointed as the Political Adviser to the PDP's National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu. Wabara, who was formerly the Secretary of the PDP BoT, will be named to the PDP's presidential campaign committee. According to a source, the decision was made just seconds ago during the present BoT meeting in Abuja. COURT DOCS REVEAL HUSHPUPPI HAS EMERGED THE "BEST BATHROOM CLEANER" IN PRISON AS HE PLEADS NOT TO BE DEPORTED TO NIGERIA BECAUSE OF ABBA KYARI Court docs reveal Hushpuppi has emerged the “Best Bathroom Cleaner” in prison as he pleads not to be deported to Nigeria because of Abba Kyari . . Ramon ‘Hushpuppi’ Abbas has appealed to the United States Judge Otis Wright to temper justice with mercy and hand him a lighter jail term ahead of his sentencing on September 21, saying he had become a changed person after scoring high in cleaning activities. . Hushpuppi’s record seen by Peoples Gazette as part of his memorandum countering sentencing recommendations of prosecutors showed he performed well and related well with other inmates. His report card for Central Valley workshop for prisoners showed the Internet fr@udster put up “very good” in attitude, quality of work, dependability and productivity between July 2021 when he enrolled and November 2021 when he completed work. . . Meanwhile in a related development, Hushpuppi revealed in court that he is at risk of being h@rmed by suspended Police officer, Abba Kyari. He said his role in the indictment of Mr Kyari, which precipitated the downfall of Nigeria’s most-celebrated police officer, has put him at grave risk and he would not be able to return to Nigeria after serving his sentence in the U.S. . The pleas were outlined in a memorandum he submitted before Judge Otis Wright seeking a downward review of sentencing years demanded by the prosecutors after Mr Abbas pleaded guilty to multimillion-dollar fr@ud last year. Louis Shapiro, an American defence attorney hired by Mr Abbas, filed the memorandum on behalf of his client on September 5. . . “Once this case is resolved and Mr. Abbas is released, that he will not be able to return to Nigeria,” Mr Shapiro wrote in the counter request. “Abubakar Kyari, a Nigerian politician and police commissioner, operates a de@th squad. He was indicted in the Juma case by the government’s investigation into this case. Mr. Abbas hopes to move his family out of Nigeria when he gets out of prison. The looming thre@t of Mr. Kiyari’s supporters, as well as intense media hara§§ment, has forced his family to continue moving to secret locations within Nigeria.
