ghettokid1:A lot of you guys don't have the basic information about the issue! The property in contention belongs to the state government and it was earmarked for building an Annex to the state government secretariat. In the early 90s when the late Saraki was the defacto power broker in the state,he acquired the said land from the state government illegally, through his stooge governor at the time whom he enthroned! I said illegally because there was no proper documentation and due process was not followed! Thereafter,he converted the land to a meeting place by building a make shift structure on the land tagged"Ile Arugbo' which literally means old people's home. This name tag is because it's mostly the old people,who are the dregs of the society that meets there and are constantly given handouts interms of money, foodstuffs etc to buy there loyalty! The fact is that many in the community sees the house as a symbol of oppression and subjugation. There's is also a spiritual dimension to it because of the many deaths that were often recorded as a result of the old people struggling to collect largesse on a yearly basis. To cut the story short,Saraki the father is long gone, Saraki the son continued to use the place for the same purpose untill the last election when his hegemony was randomly defeated by the present government through a collective intervention of the community popularly known as OTO GEE movement. Of course the popular mass movement is a kind of revolution and we can't decieve ourselves that many wrongs will be corrected and thus, the landed property, which hitherto was seen as a symbol of oppression is naturally one of the casualties. The fact is that Sarakis political structure in Ilorin is in tarters and on the verge of extinction! The struggle for this property is about the claim with which they can lay claim to any sympathy out of the multitude of abuse of powers and privileges that were discovered against them. The land in question was a govt land that was meant to build a state secretariat Annex,why will Saraki (the father) convert it to personal use in the first instance?Crass impunity! Definitely, we've not heard the last of these, it's just the beginning. There are still so much things to be retrieved from Saraki. Nemesis is just catching up!!! |

No federal judge earns less than 1.5 million naira per month which does not include their annual vacation allowance which runs into millions . Hon Justice Muhammed Ibrahim Sirajo the tribunal Chairman disagrees with the Judgement declaring Adeleke winner Of Osun gubernatorial election. The chairman of the Osun State Elections Petitions Tribunal in Abuja has delivered a dissenting judgement in the Osun State governorship election petition. Justice Muhammed Ibrahim Sirajo on Friday dismissed the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, which alleged that there was election non-compliance with the Electoral Act in the election. Justice Sirajo ruled that the petitioners failed to prove the claims at the tribunal. He further ruled that where it is established that there is non compliance, the tribunal does not have “the powers to subtract the votes of the non compliance and declare a candidate winner.” He added that under Section 140(3) of the Electoral Act, where substantial non compliance is proved, the tribunal can only order a supplementary or fresh election. The chairman however adviced INEC to only comply with the majority decisions concurrently delivered by Justices Peter Chudi Obiorah and Adegboye Ayinla Gbolagunte. The main judgment of the panel had invalidated the rerun election of September 27, 2018 which returned Governor Gboyega Oyetola as winner and withdrew the certificate of return issued to him by INEC. |
