about 70% of all cases of overheating are caused by bad thermostat/radiator.......the other cause is damaged relay.the avg mechanic is too lazy/incompetent to trouble shoot...so he connects the fan permanently to the battery.......a fan relay costs less than N800 naira depending on the car......if the relay is bad..the fan stops working.

THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN THRASHED A BILLION TIMES!!!....permanenting ur fan or whatever u call it is totally wrong...u will wreck ur engine...i give u 2 or 3 yrs max....u will be out sourcing for a new engine to buy

yeah coolqant is used in tropics/hot climates while anti freeze is used in western hemiosphere/tempreate regions, both serve to give water special properies

@ trac.i meant 70% coolant...30% water.the avg radiator is 4liters n the average nigerian wudnt want to fill his radiator with 4 liters of coolant @400 naira per 0.5l of coolant.when i changed my radiator..i drove it with 100% water for sometime before i flushed it and made it 30/70. 30 being coolant!....just to prevent/reduce rust.

ur question isnt complete.......whats ur budget?................toyota is always better/reliable/easier to maintain.............get her a2001 to 2005 rav4 abt 1.8m, 2006 to 2011 rav4/.....2.6m and above...honda crv etc.........

ur radiator isnt cooling properly.....do u hv coolant in it or water?.......pls flush the radiator and fill with coolant 70/30 or buy a new double cell radiator and replace ur existing radiator...it probablly is clogged or is old and has been patched in the past thus reducing the available cooling area

hey wanna ship an suv tru grimladi NJ, intend to put some car parts n spares inside the car........am torn btw roro and container, considering the risk/delay in using container.since the container isnt mine, ..what is ur advice?..i heard grimaldi is quite safe.shipped my first suv a sometime ago, didnt put anything inside...but nuthing was taken..the jacks/car radio etc were left untouched

am suprised that the car drives well with the flashing d light.the flashing d usually implies that the car has entered limp mode...thus it wudnt exceed abt 30/40 mph...just enough to get u to the nearest repair center without damaging the car much.its always advised to discontinue driving a car with flashing 'd' light or flashing check engoine light.

like the previous posters said..u need an advanced obd II scanner to see the transmission codes...disconnecting ur battery/reseting the code wont solve ur problem as the light will come back again within 6 ignition cycles/30 mins wch ever comes first

u wud hv been in deep sh,it if u turned off the engine.......its an suv, thus the ecm is inside the car and high up too.also dont rejoice yet, chk ur engine and transmission fluids for signs of water ingress
