I also heard about the history of communal clashes between the two towns.

I hate this nonsense, the government should step in and put an end to this confrontation. Those who are to blame should be punished within the confines of the law. All this is happening because of poverty, joblessness and myopia.

I understand how Bakareaat feels and its normal for anyone who has not had the opportunity of getting first hand knowledge of SAP practice. I'm still much of a Junior consultant and I quickly realised that all the certification did for me was enable me get into SAP consulting. Actual practice is a different ball game.

From my research online, I discovered that the international consulting firms don't even want to see an SAP consultant with less than 3 years of experience and at least 2 full life cycle implementations.

Also the idea of a huge pay once you are certified is a hoax, I don't know about Europe or the US, but here in Naija, I have a certified friend who is getting much less than 100k per month with a consulting firm.

@Nnaiah Please are the adverts for the BB group for Jobs within Nigeria? Cos I noticed that most SAP opportunities for Africa are for jobs in SA.

Car TalkGerman Used Cars For 1000 Euro: How Real? by crispgg(op):
I came across the German automobile website www.mobile.de where I found some used cars going for as low as 1,000 Euro. Cars which if purchased in the US or Canada would cost much more.

I was really surprised and considered the fact that shipping from these European countries wouldn't be more than 700 Euro. Are these offers for real or there are some hidden costs to it. Cos when things seem to good too be true, they usually are.

Hi Yinkard4me

Normally, I just ignore posts such as yours 'cos peeps like you are not worth responding to.

I hate it when people insult others on public forums just because they are able to conceal their identity.

It's obvious you are one of the jobless r'tards on Nairaland who have nothin' doing but look for others to insult on the forum.

A little advice for you "boy". Do not type anything before your brain boots and develops the capacity to process it. And next time, try and be a little more respectful, if you don't like what others write, you can always ignore it or ask that the mods take it down.

I remember this woman.

There was a show about her on DSTV some time ago, I think last year. Doctors were making attempts to get her lose some weight prior to doing much needed surgery. But that woman was totally non cooperative, she would be screaming at her daughters to get her snacks and junk food. Her doctors would come into the house and start packing out junk food and drinks from her she hid them in her room. Her older daughters would refuse to get them for her but she always managed to get the last daugther to get it for her.Very emotional..., it was a serious addiction, if her screaming and getting angry failed to make her daughters get her junk food, she would start pleading and crying. She even called the cops on her daughters once.she would be crying, her daughters would cry too. Her last daughter is the most beautiful of the lot. I remember her singing and dancing for her mum towards the end of the programme and the woman was smiling.

Its totally unfortunate that she did'nt make it.

hopeyemmy: Until ANAN becomes a member of IFAC, there is no way ACCA will form a partnership with ANAN.
Actually, I don't know how these things work. But it might not be a partnership thing. ANAN can decide on its own to grant membership to holders of the ACCA qualification. All these other accounting bodies are bent on chipping away at the dominance of ICAN and I don't see any reason why they can't make this move as a strategic way of getting at ICAN. I actually heard that when ANAN was formed, in order to quickly gain a foothold, they granted all those senior accountants with years of experience at government institutions who had given up on getting ICAN qualified membership. This enabled them to quickly get government recognition and I believe that is why they are still standing today.
CareerRe: ICAN Stops Direct Conversion Of Foreign Qualifications by crispgg: 12:49pm On Nov 09, 2012
I expect ANAN to take advantage of this situation. All those with ACCA need is the ability to set up there own firms in Nigeria. With ANAN membership, they can do that. Imagine the credibility that they will gain when they have a huge number of ACCA members joining them. In a few years, they will be at par with ICAN.

Hi Taiwo,

Congratulations on your certification. But I would like you to know that becoming a good SAP consultant goes beyond the certification. Once you hit the field you will discover that. I remember we were both making enquiries about becoming certified around the same time. I got certified December 2011. When I started work with a consulting firm, I realised that I actually knew little about config et all. The information you get from the academy and certification is more theoretical. Just hit the streets, get a consulting firm to work with and start the practical learning process from scratch. Best!

A friend sent this write up to me and I felt like sharing it...Read on.

THE REAL OWNERS OF NIGERIA

DEPRIVATION & DERIVATION PRINCIPLES: WHY THE
NORTH IS POOR (I)
The real owners of Nigeria !

The North is poor, this much no one disputes, the poverty has bred
millions of destitutes, who have become instant and easy recruits
for Boko-Haram. But the question is: Who impoverished the
North? I want to posit that the Core North through ...their
aristocrats and ex-military rulers rake an enormous income from oil
money (from the Niger Delta) individually, much more than any
Individual/group of individuals from the South, and collectively
more than 10 times the entire Niger Delta business men in the oil
and gas industry put together.

In this disquisition, I have attempted to show that an estimated
75% of crude oil and gas produced by indigenous companies is
controlled by the North. It is an area they have well conquered
through General IBB, Abacha and Abdulsalami. However, the loots
never get back home.

In this first part I will attempt to describe the very uneven nature of
the distribution of the nation’s wealth among the Northern
aristocratic families and their military generals who for decades
looted Nigeria . They did so blatantly, and while Nigeria was
weeping about oil windfall loot and others, Nigerians would wail if
they know how much of the nation’s resources these folks
allocated to themselves and their business fronts before they
stepped aside.

Let us therefore begin.
To the state of origin of Boko Haram: Borno State .
Enter Cavendish Petroleum, the operators of OML 110 – with good
yielding OBE field. This oil block was awarded to Alhaji Mai
Deribe - the Borno patriarch, who even in death will remain the
richest man dead or alive in the history of Borno state- by General
Sani Abacha on the 8th of July, 1996.

OML 110 has a proven oil reserve in excess of 500 million barrels
(More than the entire 300milliom barrels reserve of Sudan ). As yet
with the capacity to produce about 120,000 barrels of crude oil
daily from its OBE 4 and OBE 5 wells.

At current production levels, the Mai Deribes net circa N4billion
monthly in crude oil sales (Using oil price estimates of $100 p/B).
Mai Deribe’s mansion, in allegedly poor Maiduguri is one of the
most lavish mansions anywhere on earth; it used to be a tourist
attraction, b4 Boko Haram’s tourism deterrent activities -
I will then shift to the centre of the Fulani aristocratic hegemony in
the North – Kano . Here. Enter the Fulani Prince Nasiru Ado
Bayero, Mallam (Prince) Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s cousin.

He is a Key shareholder and director in Seplat/Platform petroleum
operators of the Asuokpu/Umutu Marginal Field with a capacity of
300,000 barrels monthly and A 30mmfcsd gas plant capable of The Ado Bayeros, Yar’Aduas and Atiku
Abubakar are Nigerian holders of Intels. It runs a private port that
has grounded three Federal ports in the South. Intels is discussed
later.

Enter South Atlantic Petroleum Limited (SAPETRO). South
Atlantic Petroleum (SAPETRO) is a Nigerian Oil Exploration and
Production Company that was created in 1995 by General T. Y.
Danjuma (also Chairma of ENI Nigeria). General Sani Abacha
awarded the Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 246 to SAPETRO in
February 1998.

The block covers a total area of 2,590km2 (1,000 sq. miles).
SAPETRO partnered with Total Upstream Nigeria Ltd (TUPNI)
and Brasoil Oil Services Company Nigeria Ltd (Petrobras) to start
prospecting on OPL246. Akpo, a condensate field was discovered
in April 2000 with the drilling of the first exploration well (Akpo 1)
on the block. Other discoveries made on OPL 246 include the
Egina Main, Egina South, Preowei and Kuro (Kuro was suspended
as a dry gas/minor oil discovery).

In June 2006, General TY Danjuma divested part of its contractor
rights and obligations to China National Offshore Oil Corporation
(CNOOC) for $1 billion (N160bn). Akpo exports about 230,000
barrels of condensate daily. Condensate export is not regulated by
OPEC, so SAPETRO/TOTAL exports as much as possible each
day. Egina exports about 75,000 barrels of oil daily.

Therefore, Akpo and Egina fields export just over 300,000 barrels
of oil/condensate daily (three times what the country Ghana
exports). SAPETRO (TY Danjuma) get’s 25% of this. Now, note I
have not talked about the gas component – it’s about 2.5 trillion
cubic feet. The money SAPETRO nets each month is more than the
monthly statutory allocation to any Nigerian state and also more
than the oil revenue of Ghana . Do your math.

Enter AMNI (or is it AMIN?) International Petroleum
Development Company. AMNI owns two oil blocks – OML 112
and OML 117. In the production-sharing contract, AMNI gets 60%
for owning the oil block and Total gets 40% for providing technical
advice. OML 112 was awarded on the 12/02/1998 while OML 117
was awarded 04/08/1999 all by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar.
Operations started on both blocks 0n 26/02/2006. The licenses are
due to expire 11/02/2018 and 05/08/2019 respectively. (Now you
see why the next election is important?).

The Okoro and Setu fields in OML 112 are operated by Afren
Energy, a company substantially controlled by Rilwanu Lukman.
The Okoro and Setu oil fields have about 50 million barrels in
reserve and currently produce/exports just a little below 20,000
barrels per day. The chairman of AMNI International Petroleum
and Development Company is Alhaji (Colonel) Sani Bello a Fulani
from Kontagora , Niger State. Lest I forget, Alhaji Bello’s sonAbu, is married to General Abdusalami Abubakar's eldest daughter.
Enter Oriental Energy Resources Limited, a company owned by
Alhaji Mohammed Indimi, a close friend of General Ibrahim
Babangida. Also worthy of note is that General IBB’s first son is
married to Alhaji Mohammed Indimi’s daughter – Yakolo IndimiBabangida, who also serves as a director in the company. Alhaji
Indimi hails from Niger State .
Oriental Energy Resources Limited runs three oil blocks: OML
115, the Okwok field and the Ebok field. OML 115 and Okwo are
OML PSC, while Ebok is an OML JV. All of them crown offshore
oil blocks.

OML 115 on its own is 228 sq Km. On OML115 Oriental Energy
Resources Limited has 60 per cent while Equity Energy Resources
AS, which Alhjai Aliko Dangote’s oil and gas investment vehicle
has 40 per cent (Aliko Dangote is from Kano ). On Okwok, Addax
has 40% and on the Ebok field, Oriental Energy Resources shares
with none: its 100%. AMNI produces twice as much as Cavendish
Petroleum.

Enter Express Petroleum and Gas Limited floated by Alhaji Aminu
Dantata, solely for the purpose of fronting for winning oil block(s)
even though he and the company are in no way qualified for the
award. General Abacha awarded him OML 108 on the 1st of
November, 1995. CAMAC Houston, a company owned by Kase
Lawal bought 2.5% of Express Petroleum’s 60% holdings. The
other 40% on OML 108 is owned by Sheba E&P Limited an IBB
tributary company. SEPCOL operates the Ukpokiti offshore field in
Shallow water Nigeria , which was acquired from ConocoPhillips in
May 2004.

Enter Shebah Exploration And Production Limited (SEPCOL) . It
is the operator of the Oil Mining License 108 offshore Nigeria .
Head office is in Lagos , but ‘head quartered’ in Minna.
Enter Consolidated Oil. Conoil Producing Limited is an integrated
upstream oil and gas company. They are the operator of six blocks
in the Niger Delta as well as 25% Equity holder in the Joint
Development Zone (JDZ) Block 4. Corporate Head office is in
Lagos , but its ‘Headquarters’ is in Minna , Niger State.
Conoil signed a technical operator agreement with Continental Oil
and Gas Limited (CONOG) to provide 100% funding and technical
service agreement to operate blocks OML 59 on a 40% (Conoil)
60% (CONOG) basis. Conoil entered into a Production Sharing
Contract with the NNPC by virtue of an agreement executed on
17th October 2008.

Conoil’s has overall potential hydrocarbon resources of over 1.0
Billion Barrels of Oil and 7.0 Trillion Cubic Feet of Gas. General
Ibrahim Babangida (IBB owns a substantial interest in conoil held
in blind trust [same arrangement in Glo] ) awarded the first oil
block to Conoil in 1991. The company produces about 100,000
barrels per day.
Enter Rilwanu Lukman, another Fulani multimillionaire with
fronted controlling holdings in Afren, the operators of AMNI oil
blocks and also with very key interest in the NNPC/Vitol trading
deal, Vitol is a London based oil trading company. Vitol lifts
350,000 barrels of crude oil daily from Nigeria .

Enter Intels and the Yar’Adua , Ado Bayero family and Alhaji
Abubakar Atiku. The Oil and Gas Free Zone and Oil Services
Centres, as well as Support Bases, are operated from governmentowned facilities, leased to Intels under long-term agreements. Intels
runs a ‘private port’, a venture that has systematically killed the
Calabar, Warri and Port Harcourt ports. There are over one
hundred major companies operating at the Intel facility in Port
Harcourt . The company makes more money in profit than the
government of Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta states put together. I shall
give details and figures in the part two of this disquisition.
Finally, for the Part I of this disquisition, I introduce you to
NorthEast Petroleum. The name is as clear as the message it sends.
I do not need to write so much about NorthEast Petroleum
registered as NorEast. NorthEast Petroleum Nigeria Limited is the
holder of OPL215 license, covering an area 0f 2,564 square
kilometres in water depths between 200 to 1600 metres. NorEast is
the parent company of Rayflosh Petroleum was awarded the blocks
OPLs 276 & 283 closing thereupon a Joint Venture Agreement
with Centrica Resources Nigeria Limited and CCC Oil and Gas.
Not surprising, NorthEast Petroleum is owned by another Fulani
businessman from the North East, Alhaji Saleh Mohammed Jambo.
The license was awarded to him by General Ibrahim Badamosi
Babangida in 1991 and then renewed in 2004. So far $50Million
has been spent on the very promising Okpoi-1 and Egere -1
exploratory well.

In the Part II, we shall finish the discussion. We will table other
North Eastern billionaires who make more money than their states
of origin from Niger Delta oil blocks.

Sadly, National Bureau of Statistics reports from 2010 show Niger
State as the poorest state in the Federation, and the North East the
poorest region. With these figures from the National Bureau of
Statistics, I rest my case. BY Samuel Diminas

PoliticsTurai & Patience At War! by crispgg(op): 8:43am On Jul 25, 2012
THE Federal Government yesterday prayed an Abuja High Court for time for it to settle out of court a tussle between the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan and former First Lady, Hajiya Turai Yar’Adua over a prized plot of land situated at Cadastral Zone in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

However, documents before the court showed that the disputed plot of land was duly allocated to Hajiya Yar’Adua’s non-governmental organisation - Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WYEF) by the Minister for the FCT with the Right of Occupancy dully issued to it.

Following an application by the Registered Trustees of WYEF, the FCT Minister had granted an allocation of plot 1347 Cadastral Zone after the Foundation paid the sum of N184.529, 438 as statutory Right of Occupancy, which was duly issued by the Minister for Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Under the terms of grant, the plaintiff was given three years to develop the property based on approved building plans.

After payment of the various levies, the plaintiff paid additional sum of N76, 936,210.00 as building plan fees following which the grant and approval of the building plans were made and given in line with the master plan for Abuja.

Thereafter, the plaintiff appointed and mobilized a building company, Al-Cooks Nigeria Limited to site to develop the property at the sum of N13, 516,013,797.58.

On November 1, 2011, the Federal Capital Territory Administration sent an additional bill of N18, 529,438 being the balance of the various charges under the grant, which the plaintiff paid the next day.

Shortly after these transactions, the Minister for the FCT, without reasons, issued a notice of revocation of the said property, which it allocated to the plaintiff for the purpose of building public institution (Training/Vocational Centre). The said letter of revocation was backdated with effect from October 27, 2011.

Immediately after the revocation letter was issued, the FCT Minister, Bala Muhammed swiftly re-allocated the plot to another organization, African First Ladies Peace Centre, which the current First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, is believed to be a sponsor.

It was at this stage that Hajiya Yar’Adua’s organisation went to court to challenge the actions of the minister with respect to the revocation letter.

Before Justice Peter Affen, it sought and obtained a restraining order barring the Minister and the FCT administration, the Abuja Geographical Information System (AGIS) and the Attorney General of the Federation from carrying out further activities at the site.

But while the order of the court was still subsisting, the defendants in defiance of the said order mobilised workers to site to commence construction.

Faced with this act of arbitrariness, counsel to WYEF, Innocent Lagi went back to the court and initiated contempt proceedings against the respective defendants.

However, in an attempt to frustrate the hearing of the contempt proceedings, the office of the Attorney General of the Federation last Friday approached the court with a motion seeking to vacate the said order.

But Justice Affen ordered the AGF to put the necessary parties on notice and adjourned the matter for yesterday.

When the matter was called yesterday, counsel from the chambers of the AGF, Baba Sa’idu informed the court of Government’s willingness to settle the matter amicably out of court.

He added that already, his client has reached out to all the counsel to the parties before the court; a position collaborated by counsel the FCT Minister, the FCT Administration and AGIS, Felix Ibanga just as the plaintiff counsel, Lagi also confirmed the development.

Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned till September 24, 2012.

I have taken travelled by road and air between lagos and abuja this year.
By road will be between 9 to 12 hours, depending on traffic and other factors.
You cannot compare travelling in europe with road trips in Nigeria. I use panadol after those long stressful journeys on the bad roads.

I would advise you to travel by air, but if you insist on travelling by road and you are going by public transport, take a Toyota Sienna car. Its the most comfortable option or the Toyota Hiace buses. If you are ready to spend you whole lifetime in a coach, I will recommend taking ABC. You will get all these options around Jibowu Yaba area.

Driving yourself?  route 2 is the only sane option, all other routes are far and not taken by commercial motorists. Going through Ekiti used to be preferred when the Akure road was bad but the Akure road has been patched up now.

Have a safe trip and enjoy your stay.

I have been one who has NEVER been impressed with Fashola's performance. Even from his first term. Now I dont live in Lagos, but anytime I visit I am always looking for the "wonderful" job that he has done. While he tried with the clearing of the Oshodi axis, you would have to look hard to see other things that he has done. A friend of mine has always said that Fashola is a governor for the rich, his activities has never been targeted to the low income earners of the state.

The problem is that Lagosians love hype. The roads to the area that I stay when I visit Lagos is still full of potholes. The only road reconstructed in that area is already developing potholes less than one year after the job was done. The only job I see the task force doing is filling potholes all over the state.

Its high time that Nigerians stop being gullible and start taking our leaders to task, we should stop being docile, sit at home while saying " God dey" to misrule and corruption. All these politicians are the same, PDP,ACN and others. They are just there to fill their pockets. During the campaign debate aired live on Channels TV, the major opposition candidate kept mentioning that the Lekki road is the most expensive road he has ever heard of. The audience, including the panel didnt even raise it up with the governor. Now they are all screaming,

PhonesThe End Of Blackberry Phones Near?! by crispgg(op): 10:38am On Dec 17, 2011
If the company fails, I wonder what will happen to the thousands of blackberry users in Nigeria. For a few years now, RIM - the makers of blackberry phones have been in serious financial troubles. This news further heightens fears about its future. From what some analysts are saying here, it seems its just a matter of time before they fold up.

I feel the wise ones should start moving to Android phones before they are left in the lurch!

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/rim-delays-qnx-phones-offers-000405027.html

By Euan Rocha

TORONTO (Reuters) - A months-long delay in Research in Motion's new BlackBerrys and a dreary quarterly report sent RIM shares tumbling again on Friday and pushed some analysts to sound the death knell for the mobile device that once defined the industry.
RIM's announcement late Thursday that it expected to launch smartphones powered by its new QNX operating system months after initially expected revived calls for the ouster of RIM's co-CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie.
The delay, combined with a dismal performance outlook issued along with the quarterly results, sparked renewed chatter about the break-up of the Canadian tech giant, which has floundered as nimbler competitors claw away at its market share.
"RIM confirmed the BlackBerry 10 smartphones will be delayed until the latter part of calendar 2012. This could be game over for the BlackBerry franchise," analysts at Canadian brokerage National Bank Financial wrote in a note to clients. BlackBerry 10 is the name the company has given to the QNX phones, which RIM had initially expected to deliver in the first quarter.
On Friday, the delay spurred several brokerage firms to cut their price targets and ratings on RIM shares and sent the Waterloo, Ontario-based company's shares tumbling more than 12 percent on Friday.
"We see a high risk that this is too late to turn around RIM's position and believe the risk of further delays is meaningful," Nomura analyst Stuart Jeffrey said in a research note. "Even in the best case, however, it seems unlikely RIM will have large volumes of its BB10 devices on sale within 15 months."
RIM has been counting on the new QNX operating system to make up ground lost to Apple Inc's iPhone and iPad and the slew of devices that use Google Inc's Android software. The delay portends another long year of transition for RIM, allowing rivals to make further in-roads into RIM's market share.
RIM on Thursday also provided a gloomy outlook for earning as sales of an interim line of legacy BlackBerry 7 smartphones lag during the crucial holiday season. Even if shipments hit the high-end of RIM's expectations during Christmas, the company will still post the first annual decline in its history.
The constant stream of bad news from RIM over the last year has driven its shares to their lowest since early 2004, and it has led to analyst and investor demands for Balsillie and Lazaridis to step down.
"RIM reminds me of a beloved grandparent. You love them, but they are very outdated and sooner or later they will be gone," said independent analyst Jeff Kagan in an email.
"Either the existing CEOs must update their thinking or bring in a new CEO to lead the company out of the darkness and back into the sunshine before it is too late."

PRICE TARGET CUTS

Canaccord Genuity cut its price target on RIM's U.S.-listed shares to $15 from $18, citing the delay in the launch of BlackBerry 10 and the company's plans to spend more on sales and marketing to help sustain interim sales.
Barclays shared similar concerns about the company's projected investments in marketing and loyalty programs to regain "mind" share.
"Benefits of the investments are not guaranteed but are likely to keep RIM's operating margins at sustainably lower levels through 2012 and 2013," Barclays said.
Barclay's cut it price target on RIM's U.S.-listed shares to $14 from $16; Citigroup reduced it price target to $12 from $15, and National Bank Financial dropped its price target to $8 from $10.
Research in Motion shares, which have lost almost half their value in the last three months, fell 11.2 percent to $13.44 Friday afternoon on the Nasdaq. The Toronto-listed shares fell 12.1 percent to C$13.89.
