Anyone understand what this guy is talking about? Cos... I don't.

So here's how to determine if an asset is worth trading:

* Determine the typical amplitudes on the 1min chart, both during ETH and RTH.

* Take half of this amplitude, and convert it in USD assuming trading 1 lot that's the target for daily trading.

* Determine also the amplitude of the fake breakout, that's how much money it's possible to lose when the stop is triggered. For instance, on Gold, it's stop hunts after stop hunts and it's riddled with fake starts.

* Determine how many lots are needed to earn $100 per day assuming you capture only 50% of the typical trend. If you need only like 2 or 3 lots, it's a good asset to trade. then you just need an entry signal, and an exit signal ideally filtering the fake breakout.

* Also choose a higher TF than 1min, because the 1min is really hard. EMAs and Stochastic are completely fine for this. So, for instance with the stochastic the divergences work well and they filter a bit the false breakout.

Yes treat 10k account like ur real 500bucks but that lot size is way overboard... to be conservative dnt go above 0.05 and keep ur peace of mind.

The lot size was calculated with a 40 pips SL and the assumption of a 1:1 RR at least. If the trader uses a 20 pips SL and a 1:2 RR at least then the lot size should be 0.25. All this makes sense if you open just one trade at a time.

So, I decided to read about prop firms today, about how it works. Turns out, your daily draw down is basically your capital. You lose more than that, in most cases, you're fvckt.


So, you've got a 10k account with a 5 percent daily DD? Your capital is 500 dollars. Lets say you decided to risk 0.5% of the 10k, which is 50 dollars, your lot size shouldn't be more than 0.13 right? Nice, except by risking 0.5 percent of the 10k, you're risking 10% of your actual capital, 500 dollars. If you're risking 1% of the 10k, You're risking 20% of that 500 dollars. Now, if you have 500 dollar to trade, as in your personal funds, would you risk 10% or 20% of it in one trade? I doubt that.


And some people will open 3 or more trades at the same time. Sometimes with inappropriate lot sizes.



These prop guys know what they're doing but a very good trader - which i'm not (yet) - will still fvck them
