They made an advertisement during that period; recently they sent me a commercial paper advert. I think if you signed up for their email newsletter, you would likely get numerous investment advertisements.

FirstAlly sent me an email to buy Firstbank shares when it was 28naira, at the moment, the price is now 100+. New lesson: never sell your stocks.

Still holding forever, I've lost a lot, and DCA has been working well for me. Once the Korean government curbs the leverage trading, the market will start getting back gradually.

THE MARKET IS ROUGH AT THE MOMENT
Someone mentioned that you buy US stocks, hold and never sellhuh

I hope the fellow is still in the market? What is the feeling like when we see our 132% gain in the likes of MU now around 100%. Not easy, but if we can hold a stock like MU for long, the gain will definitely come!! But the pain is equally there.

Wishing everyone the best

She's just like the social media influencers.

professor1957:
I remember when she was new to equities. She rushed to buy the Stanbic Imaan Fund and wouldn’t let us hear the end of it—she was advising everyone to invest in it. Then the market had a small dip, and she panicked, started complaining, and ran straight back to the money market fund (MMF). ..

Don't trust her easily, chief. When Yakubu comes now, she'll start blaming the fund managers for manipulation.

Nice analysis. I see your growth. Hats off. Keep at it and very soon, you would laugh at the quesit, ons you used to ask

Lol, fixed income deserves a good dividend payout. I just lambasted a social media influencer who was overhyping equity and stocks to her followers; she stated that if they invest 1M in the Stanbic IBTC equity fund, it will return 2M+. I hope the SEC will do something about these "eat me, I pass you influencers.

Iamblessed8888:
Coolies. Although they have sent an email for the fixed income alpha dividend. They declared a largese of 8.2kobo per share.
InvestmentRe: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m): 8:34am On Jul 11
They should probably pay at the end of July.

Iamblessed8888:
Have any idea when CS is paying? They havent said anything
InvestmentRe: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m): 8:25am On Jul 10
CS pays a dividend to the bank account; there is an option to reinvest the dividend or have it paid to the bank account. When a dividend is paid, the NAV usually drops on that day. Lastly, if you started your equity journey with CS from Jan to May, you automatically qualify for the dividend payout.

princezzz:
This dividend reinvestment seems plausible, because CS seems to be recovering nicely compared to my other FMs.
So does this mean everyone in CS gets to participate in the dividend reinvestment, compared an FM FM like Ucap that paid individual dividend for those who stayed till the qualification date?
I didnt pay much attention to how each house does their dividend when i started

Nice one, Chief. Equity is not for the faint-hearted; I always preach patience.

Iamblessed8888:
Who is this grin

Try to form your own investment narrative rather than relying on others who may be wrong. Why place the burden of such a huge decision on someone else so you can shift blame from your self if things go south 😂😂.

Instead of asking , should i move back to equity? A better question may be -

1. What is the market saying?
2. What is the ASI doing right now?
3. Where can i get resources to be able to understand the market mood at anytime?
4. What is the candlestick saying and how can i learn to interpret it for myself?
5. What is my conviction? (Everyone has this and excessive intellectual freeloading may dim your inner voice)
InvestmentRe: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m): 11:59pm On Jul 09
I've moved my funds away from Nigerian equity; I'm not quite sure of the numbers CS did yesterday; however, it might also be dividend reinvested as well or the market returns.

froshroy:
What percentage did CS do yesterday? Just noticed a very massive pump in my meristem equity this evening. Could this be the dividend payout? I got almost 9% gains 🔥🔥🔥

InvestmentRe: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m): 10:06am On Jul 09
I got your point, bro. However, if you don't have huge capital in MMF, it can't generate a good result in the long term. Let's assume "A" invested a million naira in Aradel or MTN and "B" also invested the same in MMF; there is a probability that A might cash out big in five years time than B.

Iamblessed8888:
Bro, so remember, the 80-100% stock market performance is an anomaly that only started maybe within the last year or two. Within that 20 year frame, many fundamentally sound stocks have gone to zero and have been delisted.

Also, whilst you have DCA on the equity side, you also have regular top ups on the MMF side which also compounds like mad too.

In developed climes, you would be lucky to get 3% on MMF which is why many foreign money runs to Nigeria. Imagine us complaining about 15% here 😂.

Play around with this MMf calculator and use 10 or 15 years time frame and you will be shocked at the power of compounding. It quickly gets to a point where your interest begins to outperform whatever your actual contribution is.

rate.com/banking/savings/compound-savings-calculator/

But you’re spot on too. DCA can make your wealth go gagga. Have you seen what happens to your rate when you buy a dip on CS and the next day becomes green? 😂😂. The system goes haywire and can give you 5000% 😂😂
InvestmentRe: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m): 1:01am On Jul 09
Keep doing DCA if you can once or twice a week, and you will thank me later. Wealth is usually accumulated during the bear season if you have a strategy.

princezzz:
#Truth# It's a personnal experience.
i considered jumping out at one point, but before i fully immersed myself in equity, i had already decided no going back to MMF, so no matter what happens, i already knew i was riding out the market this year. This is my own way of "stronging" my mind.
Come January if all things remain the same, I will be doing my own reshuffling and rebalancing on maybe new things.
InvestmentRe: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m):
Chief, MMF can not outperform a fundamental stock in the long term if you do DCA; the compounding of equity is not a joke. Nestle is around 3215 naira; the guy analysis is totally incorrect. If MMF has a 19% annualized return and a stock market does 80-100% annually and maybe -20% in negative years, with proper strategy and DCA and dividend reinvestment, one will surely beat the market. Money from stock is not a joke if you are patient. It is only in Nigeria that most folks invest in MMF.

Iamblessed8888:
A good strategy is this :

1. Have a lot in MMF (if you aren't that young anymore)
2. Have about 20% in equity.
3. You will observe the little you have in equity will outperform MMF.
4. On red days, MMf will chest your losses and even neutralize it if the yakubu is not gigantic
5. On green days, MMf will amplify your gains. Green from equity and green from MMF.

But for you to enjoy this strategy, you need to have a good sum in MMF first.

If your risk tolerance and horizon is high high, then allocate more to equity and you will 10x your money faster than MMF.

But remember, MMF also wins in the long term. Infact someone did an analysis in the other thread about how MMF outperformed a bullish stock over a 20 year horizon.

Yes, if I entered my foreign equity in January, I would be smiling and making fun of Yakubu.

Iamblessed8888:
December /January may be the best time to enter equity funds. God so kind by Q1 you can easily do 100% or above 50% if its a good year. Then you can exit for the year

The war makes the market drop rapidly; however, there is a lot of drama going up and down from Korea, which is deteriorating the market for now. Furthermore, market noise does not move me, as I need more units at a discount. I've basically seen an extra $50-60 whenever the market goes up; let them keep selling, and I will be buying from them.

Iamblessed8888:
Nawa. Since you in it for the long term, these short term swings are just noise.

Does the war move the market positively or negatively

Zrosk is too pricey; when I initiated a withdrawal, 100k was deducted from my withdrawal, and after asking why, I was told some CSCS charges and other blah-blah charges. Anyway, I can't say much because I made tons of money with them.

BelieverDE:
Their report is actually very good. Loved their analysis and the visuals...however, I still don't understand why their benchmark is actually very low.....70% of NGX 30. Why would they want to charge 20% incentive fee if they exceed their benchmark? Why not if they beat the index?
InvestmentRe: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m): 4:17pm On Jul 07
The whole drama is from Korea; they trade on margins and even borrow loans to trade, and this leads to heavy profit taking.
SK Hynix is bringing its stock to the United States on Friday, which might bring some stability to the market as institutional investors might dive in to trade the company directly in U.S. dollars without needing to access international brokerages on the Korea Exchange. Lastly, one should just hold and wait till Friday to see what is going to happen. The whole tech market is bleeding heavily at the moment.

NGX is getting back gradually; those that bought the dip will reap the reward.

InvestmentRe: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m): 8:28am On Jul 07
SMH is fine, and DRAM has Micron in its portfolio. However, DRAM is too volatile; the volatility can reset someone's brain. If you decide to go for tech stocks, always track KOSPI, which dictates how the US tech stocks will move for that day.

Iamblessed8888:
You right. Considering a semi conductor ETF like SMH or just a broad tech ETF like vanguard. Definitely have my eyes on micron and amazon too. May be an overkill though if i have an ETF that contains them already

CS did 3% yesterday. Amazing

This might be the right time to dive in; however, you should first ponder on which stocks or ETFs you would like to go with. The Kanayo here is not a joke; it is always pump, dump, and pump again. Nevertheless, with time and patience, one will smile.

Iamblessed8888:
Nice one, Bro. Getting ready to dive into foreign equities for some foreign kanayo
