1. Did everyone in SW vote for Buhari in 2015? No. Jonathan had about +40%, Muhammad had about less tha 60%. It is folly to blanket the SW as pro Buhari

2. Does the contestant in PDP need SW? Very much. PDP is already very strong in SE, a Northern candidate is a plus for them, what would attract the SW to him?

3. As it is, PDP may pick a vice from the SE / SS. A good one given the fact that the regions mentioned can do with a VP at that time.

Strategically dumping PDP chairmanship in SW would have been a great plus for a better tomorrow for the party. It would have revived PDP vibes in the SW. Some mojo at least for the party.

It's not a smooth road yet for PDP. But one thing is that PDP isn't APC. It will be hard for one man to champion the cause of PDP or to make PDP into a regional affair. The party wasn't designed that way.
