Mariangeles: An intelligent individual would know that judging a whole state by just 2 females is hardly intelligent! I did not make my inference based on two observations. You did not read my post carefully. I gave those two examples to buttress a myriad of experiences I already had. |

somehow: Well herdsmen killings didn't start now, just that it got more media coverage now that a known Fulani man is the president. If we have a viable option, then and then will he need all regions badly to remain in person. To upset him, you need someone who can command followership like he does. There are a number of candidates that can give him a run for his money, trust me. He is no longer running as a fresh candidate high on morale and propaganda . If you think the middle belt escalation will not hurt buhari then you take the middle belters for complete Fools. |

DonVikings: Can you tell us the favour Ndigbo has done to any president and how they were not rewarded? We have voted for every wining president in our history except buhari and none of them were igbos. Nobody can accuse us of bigotry and hate. We have paid our dues. More than most. |

Roger3D: Never! Are you yet done with your campaign of insults and calumny? You think you can blackmail your way into the presidency abi? In 2023, a yoruba man takes over from Buhari you can go and vote for your beloved PDP. You this kid you are still deceiving yourself. Your northern SGF just made a rational political deduction and you are facing me. E go do you like film . |

limeta: The same promise buhari made to yoruba 2015 even accepted a yoruba vp , used and dump them sorry tinubu as if thats not enough his about playing the same old trick on igbos and to my surprise some are buying into it. igbos should not forget too qiuck that the people dieing in the middle belt voted buhari 2015 Any party that does not produce an Igbo presidential candidate in 2023 should go to blazes forever. It is as simple as that. If they betray us we will betray them when the time comes. |

somehow: Think broad and wide my friend, when the East didn't vote for him some years ago, did it stop him from winning? Meaning he needs the East less, the best thing to do is to align and act like you "like him", vote for him so you can have something to point to when it's your turn. BTW, no worthy contender for 2019 so why waste an opportunity to play politics like smart people again? That is assuming that buhari retains the middle belt and other regions he won . If he has lost the middle belt thanks to Fulani herdsmen, then he needs the SE now more than ever . |

DonVikings: Lie.2023 it goes back to South West. Dues were paid in 2015 and will again most likely in 2019 and the favour will be returned in 2023. The earliest Ndigbo can produce president is 2031. So stop building castles in the air. No be only SW na WW. Who have repaid the favour the igbo nation have extended to other past presidents!? Your northern SGF is already telling you the writing on the wall and you are here disturbing us. |

BOOMnaija: Bro calm ur nerves, u can always decide not to watch. I hate seeing posts like this. Did anybody force u to watch??... By d way, it has been aired since 2001 under d auspices of BBA, so it will continue and not even u or buhari can stop it. So the best u can do is to ignore the show or any thread about it on nairaland and stop coming here to act all holy on us. Nobody is interested. My own issue is with the prize money . Put the prize money at 2-5 million and I am fine. Dedicating 45 million to that show is a slap on our collective faces. |

Tabelachizza: ****Nigeria ? Until biggie..says "This is big Brother,Tobi go and on the generator,NEPA have seized the light." Na that time we go know say an South Africa Sure pass.. There are generators that come on, the moment power is interrupted. If they can afford 45 million as prize money, getting that type of generator should not be hard. Besides, it is supposed to be a Nigerian reality show. Interruption in power is part of the Nigerian reality. Anything else is fake. |

Literature › Re: Achebe's 'things Fall Apart' Makes 12 'greatest Books Ever Written' List by CSTR1003: 6:15am On Apr 11, 2018 |
Throwback: Good you mentioned most read.
But who has read his plays or his poetry?
Which of the theatres around the world has his drama been staged?
Soyinka's work spoke for him and was considered the best literary genius to come out of Africa and awarded the Nobel prize for Literature as the first ever African.
Achebe's stories too have made their mark, but literature has never been about stories only.
If the fans of Achebe were satisfied with his work being most read, they would not continually remind themselves of his inability to have the Nobel prize achievement of Soyinka, by feeling the need to refer to Soyinka on a thread that had no business with Wole Soyinka. Who has read his story? Are you kidding me? Every part of the world. His book has been translated into more languages than any other African novel. His novel is a recommended reading for schools in many countries including America. There is a limit to bigotry. When bigotry makes you to ask stupid questions, then it has become a poisonous trait. His book has been read in every continent of the world as a symbol of African literature. No other book comes close. There is a difference between sleep and death . Someone just got literary knighted as one of the 12 greatest books by the British intelligentsia . A book that is far the most translated book to come out of Africa. And you are still asking me who has read his book. It is spirits that read his book . Ridiculous . BTW, I already said before that Achebe lost the Nobel due to political reasons when he confronted Joseph Conrad for racist literature ,before writing things fall apart as a response. The Nobel is just an award. chinua won other awards. His book has just been listed as the 12 greatest books ever. His book is the most read African book by Africans and non-africans alike. That is a far greater honour than the Nobel. That is the test of excellence |
Literature › Re: Achebe's 'things Fall Apart' Makes 12 'greatest Books Ever Written' List by CSTR1003: 11:00pm On Apr 10, 2018 |
Throwback: Literature has always been known to cover:
Prose, Drama, Poetry.
Achebe ticks 1 box, Soyinka ticks all the boxes.
That one is awarded a Nobel prize, already means you are considered the best among your peers. Or you think it is an Aba or Oluwole certificate? Do you know what it means to be the first African to attain such a feat in the field of Literature?
It can never be wished away, no matter the envy.
A Nobel laureate should only be compared to a fellow Nobel laureate. Nobel laureate is only an award. It does not confer literary sainthood. The test of the pudding Is in the eating. China Achebe Is the most read African author ever. That speaks for itself more than a 100 Nobel prizes will. 4 Likes |
