The United States know how powerful Russia is because Russia is the only country in the world who have the capability to effectively deliver a nuclear weapon in the united States in less than 30minutes, no other country can do such.

Please note that due yo the above, the united States have to keep building bases abroad and then deploy air defences there so as to try to reduce Russia capability of hitting the United States, like they are forming all kind of alliances with lots of countries because no single country can defeat Russia the grandson of the red army in a war
