The solution is to get the electorates better educated.

Democracy is still the best.

But it works best when you have an enlightened population.

The current scenario where barely educated millions from kano or katsina decide our presidents based on what they hear in their mosques is unacceptable.

They need to be educated.
Unfortunately, the people they elected in the first place does not want them truly enlightened, so it is a vicious cycle.

BTW, I find this west african envelope that we like using to be very limiting.

Nigeria as a foremost African nation state should be able to project power throughout the continent.

Central and East Africa should have been our playground by now, while projecting and displaying significant power and influence into the geopolitical spaces of some military powers like Egypt, Algeria, and South Africa.

The entire continent should be our sand box.

It's corruption, short sightedness and incompetence that has restricted us to West Africa.

And Nigeria may never be truly secure until we start doing that.

We could have crippled ISWAP capabilities early enough, if the Nigerian military had significant force projection into Libya and Northern Africa.

What is good about all this is that it brings more pressure on the military to be better.

Scrutiny brings the best in us.

Nigerian military now realise that the eyes of the world is on them and they need to be top notch in every way.
