Politics › Re: Three Times The FBI Arrested ‘Corrupt’ Judges In US Just Like The DSS-The Cable by CSTR2: 7:55pm On Oct 09, 2016 |
Who are all these illiterates.? Where do all these people come from? Stupidity everywhere on nairaland. What the FBI did was a stint operation to induce corrupt judges and hence catching them in the very act. It is completely different from what DSS is currently doing which is probably politically motivated anyway. Judge Abang is still a Free man for Christ sake. Is there a more corrupt judge out there? |

caesaraba: Eventually, we'll get there. To assume that we are already there is foolery. ...and like I told you the last time our paths crossed on here, I think Buhari is handling cases like these with kid gloves still. how will you get there? By destroying your own democracy before it even gets the chance? Besides, who voted buhari for dictatorship? Where did you get the consensus that the Nigerian people trust buhari as dictator? |

babajero: (Take America for instance. In 2014, the FBI invented a fake case involving a fictional character and a staged arrest. The FBI invented this case to see if Joseph Waters Jr., a Philadelphia judge who was suspected to be corrupt, would interfere in this case after been pressured by his rich friend, who had been ‘good’ to him, but was working for the FBI in this instance.
Walters fell for this sting operation. He called Judge Dawn Segal, who was assigned this fictitious case, to lobby her. All these were recorded in the FBI’s sting operation. This operation is synonymous to what the DSS claims to have been doing.) The person that wrote this rubbish is really stupid for comparing both scene. That is the backwardness of Nigeria. America had to create a false case to tempt judges into corrupt acts and then arrest them, but the Nigerian DSS prefer to break into houses in the middle of night like the secret police of a banana jungle. And Unlike Nigeria, the USA is the most powerful nation on earth answerable to no one. But still, they respect and fear their own democratic processes. |

caesaraba: Una go shout tire! It's not only do it well, it's follow due process.
President Duterte of the Philippines has issued a nationwide presidential order for ordinary citizens to hunt down and kill drug dealers and get rewarded by government and still the U.S of A who many of us Nigerians refer to when stuff like this happens, have not scrapped bilateral ties with them and instead are conducting joint military exercises with them (one of the highest forms of bilateral co-operation). Buhari and the DSS understands that we do not live in a perfect world. I would go out on a limb and say (hoping you have at least being to Nigeria once in your life time) that if the NJC were involved and the operations delayed, there's a 96% chance that they would have come up empty. That a sitting governor would run to the house of a judge involved in his case and get physically hurt in the course of resisting the judge's arrest goes to say the guys at the DSS are on to something very tangible.
So oga, we can sit down here under the mango tree and bobo ourselves that 9ja is an ideal society or simply agree that we can do better while also been happy that corrupt people are being exposed and having their nests rattled. E no affect me o, if e affect any of una personally, una doo. There are hundreds of thousands of awaiting trial cases due to a very backward judicial system, I haven't seen you lot protesting against that. Goodmorning this evening. President Duerte is not president buhari. President duerte has the support and trust of over 98% of his citizenry and for good reasons. He has no record of bigotry, abuse of power and nepotism. He is a barbarian leading philipine down the abyss with his style of governance and hence alienating the United states, but atleast he has the trust of his people. How many people trust buhari to surrender to him such powers of dictatorship that he doesn't even deserve.? Over 10 million electorates don't. Remember that he won with just 12 million votes. |

Foreign Affairs › Re: What Is The Need For The US To Have So Many Military Bases Abroad? by CSTR2: 11:32am On Oct 09, 2016 |
CFCman: There is absolutely no need for the US to have 700+ military bases overseas. It's a waste of taxpayer money, and portrays the country as an Empire. Instead, half of those bases need to be closed, and the money saved ploughed back into social/education programs. Ordinarily, I would agree to your assertion, if the world was perfect. But the world is not perfect and America has some real mortal enemies out there. Infact, any sign of weakness from America, and there would be global consequences almost immediately. Besides, some of those bases are used in the defence of ally nations like korea and japan who ordinarily have no military and then pay the united states for their own defence. |

Obiano should hurriedly join APC so we can have 2 states out of the five south eastern states for 2019 election purposes. I like his style of governance especially his agricultural policies. It's not easy to export $5m ugu leaves daily even though we are yet to see the ugu farm If he joins APC that could backfire on your afonja as$ at the national level with everything tinubu is going through. You better pray he doesn't. |

NafeesaAA: I'm not an Aviation expert but I do know that the buying and selling of an aircraft has to pass through a process that's internationally acceptable which is tedious. Now that the sales adverts are out, it then follows that work was going on behind the scene. We're getting out of the era of waste gradually. Besides, the ones transfered to NAF are going to battle filed. Civilian planes have no business in the battle-field. So you are being deceived as usual. We have specialized military jets for battle zones and Nigeria does not have many of them, and the few ones you have are very obsolete. |

National politics has destroyed him. I am sure he would have wished to remain in lagos and keep pulling the strings in the SW, and nobody would have cared. But his butterfly thought itself a bird. He is a smart man though and given the subservient nature of his people, I am sure he would regain all his regional status with time. He should forget trying to control national politics though. That would be his waterloo. |

AZeD1: Too many clueless people on this thread.
The charges against Saraki were dropped to stop the Saraki - Tinubu alliance and get Saraki on the PMB side.
Saraki has presidential ambitions and there's no way he is going to get the ticket in APC in 2019, his choices are either with the PDP or with a new party. Saraki-tinubu alliance Yeah right. Delusion. Remi tinubu and her lagos caucus would puke at the sound of that. |

Ekweremadu would be a Zik-like figure. Destroying afonja hopes in northern circles along with saraki and atiku. And if obiano wickedly decamps to APC with his reputation for responsible governance, that is it. History is repeated and afonja loses once again. |

There is a reason why they call these afonjas led by tinubu a bunch of perpetual oppositions. And somehow, because they managed to latch on to a northern buhari fanaticism and win an election, they have suddenly mistaken their butterflies for birds. Afonjas, get ready to be taught some political lessons from your historical masters. We are going to unleash ZIK 2.0 on your collectives as$es. |
