Good evening dear people, please Someone just told me that if one has a valid visitor visa in Canada, it is possibly to apply to change the status of your visa to a student visa. Abeg is this true? If it is, it sounds like good news to me.

Any1 here ever heard of this kinda gist before??

Ok, please I'm back with my weird questions again, but I need ur answers please smiley

Do the embassy call your previous employers?.... I'm kind of worried because I want to include my present employer as a past employer, and my dad's company as my current employer. If you understand what I mean undecided

Reason:
1) I'm not yet confirmed, therefore getting a reference letter and study leave letter from my present employer will be impossible.
2) I'm supposed to be sponsored by my dad's company, and I can easily get a reference letter from them.

Why am I bothered?
I'm scared that if they actually call previous employers, they may find out I that I still work with the organization.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

In my own opinion, I think you're good to go but don't make use of document that will complicate your status. Thanks

Summarize as possible as u can, SOP is not a must document , so if u decided to submit u should make it straight to d point, short as possible as u can without loosing d important fact u want to pass across.

To me a page is good. Maximum of two if u must exceed 1.

Thanks

chichi89: 3 months but it isn't compulsory for online route. Unless you are going through paper again,I don't think it's necessary.

slimmsyyetty: @cufs....
I read ur sop on 1 of d quotes. I hardly comment on dis forum but I would like 2share my opinion on it
Ur sop is quite nice but not enof. 2me, it's as if u are telin d VO dat u don't even know wot u are goin 4. 2nd degree is M.sc while B.sc is 1st degree, so, goin 4anoda B.sc means u are goin 4 a 2nd bachelor degree. While U may not b called 4an interview, ur sop must fill in d gap by answering all d questions d VO might want 2know like...
Y going 4 a 2nd bachelor degree, is ur 1st degree related 2d 2nd bachelor degree u want 2go 4, if yes, how, d grade of ur 1st degree, y u chose d course n dat school, what steps av u taken 2ensure u will perform better, y u dont want 2study dat course in Nigeria, y Canada, what benefit will d course bring 2U n ur country, what u intend doing after coming back (u didnt even metion u will b coming back n dats what they hate), home tie n lots more. Include copies of ur certificate, nysc, waec...as proof of 1st degree n work on ur introduction. Gudluck as u refire

Thanks slimsyetty, I'll work on it again...but do you think the issue is that I'm going for another bsc degree? Cos I know a lot of people that got the visa and are still going for a 2nd bsc degree..just wondering

Yello, please work on your supporting documents as advised.
Your SOP seems pretty much good to me.

Please, I'll advise you delete your SOP from your post. It's for your own good, to avoid the possibility of plagiarism.

Lord's Favour with your next application.

Cheers.

Thank you smiley
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by Cufs(f): 7:47pm On Jul 31, 2014
Jijola: Naaa. First, your introduction is too general. You should be introducing yourself and why you're going to Canada. A Letter of Intent must show peculiarities. Second, what you wrote in your statement of purpose has nothing to do with purpose...purpose means circustances that drive your interest in your proposed area of study.what are your academic and research interests. You layed too much emphasis on career, when you shoud be stressing academics and research. This is not a work permit application.Third, it's interesting that you said your dad's company wants to sponsor you. On what ground? Is that where you currently work? If not, they don't have a basis. If it is, then you should be using the company's accounts and documents as primary sponsorship proof. Your dad could come in as a co-sponsor.
Many other things are missing. Why did you choose Canada? Why did you choose the school? What do you hope to achieve with your proposed training?

Thanks a lot Jijola smiley cheesy**hugs**....lol..but please if you have a format, I hope you don't mind showing me so I can use it as a guide.

Thanks every1, you guys are soo soo soo helpful. I should have just done my findings properly n done my application myself instead of depending on an agent that knows nada**smh
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by Cufs(f): 7:09pm On Jul 31, 2014
Jijola: Since you claim you're working, why didn't you include documents proving that such as promotion letter, pay slips, tax clearance, account etc? This is more important where U sponsor yourself, but it's also important where U claim to be working.A work I'd and Employment letter aren't sufficient to show that.Since you're working, they expect you to have a substantial amount in your account. Moreover, was there a study-leave letter? Without it,then it means you're absconding from work.
On your proposed employer, did you show proof that it's a genuine venture e.g. C of I, Tax clearance and so on? Is the proposed letter of employment or invitation to treat detailed enough.
Then, why did you state that your sister would house you? That sounds like you're absconding more than that you're going to study. Even if you have to mention that, you must give very strong reasons such as special health conditions or needs, which may need proof.
It may not be sufficient to show that your parent's have properties.Properties can prove both finance and home tie.Just showing they have them proves their financial capacity, but not home tie for you. As a woman who may get married or already married, why would your parents' properties make you come back to Nigeria?
How well did you articulate issues in your Letter of Intent?
Keep in mind it's always better to 'overprove' than 'underprove'! Brighter minds will add to these.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by Cufs(f): 6:54pm On Jul 31, 2014
Slimdel: Is your sponsor related to you? The documents he or she gave u, how complete were they?

Yea, my sponsor is related to me. The documents were okay, but I guess my personal documents were not enough.
