To our valued enterprise customers and partners,You’re hearing a lot of noise in the market about BlackBerry®. MDM vendors are undoubtedly inviting you to webinars and enticing you to switch off your BES.We want to set the story straight about BlackBerry in the Enterprise, both for our existing customers and for those about to implement BYOD and MDM.We are very much alive, thank youOur “for sale” sign has been taken down and we are here to stay. BlackBerry recently announced it has entered into an agreement to receive a strategic investment from Fairfax Financial and other institutional investors, which represents a vote of confidence in the future of BlackBerry. The investments you've made in BlackBerry infrastructure and solutions are secure. I will keep the lines of communication open as we navigate through this transition. We're going back to our heritage and roots – delivering enterprise-grade, end-to-end mobile solutions. As we refocus back to our roots, BlackBerry will target four areas: handsets, EMM solutions, cross-platform messaging, and embedded systems. And, just as important, we will continue to invest in enterprise and security related R& during our restructuring period. In short, reports of our death are greatly exaggerated.Setting the record straight: We will manage all devicesWe’re serious about multi-platform MDM and even more serious about multi-platform EMM. We deliberately moved to a new platform with BES10 last year. Making this change enables us to manage all devices, turbo-charge BYOD initiatives, and provide the very best management experience. Our competitors want you to think that BES only manages BlackBerry devices, and that we are somehow more expensive than other MDMs. This is false. We understand the realities of the enterprise mobility market better than anyone, and we’re in the game for the long term. We’ve been investing in enterprise mobility management – for any device – and thanks to customers like you, we’re doing very well. Here’s the proof:Our EMM customer base is much larger than any of the other vendors in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Mobile Device Management – and is growing. We manage more mobile devices than any other vendor. Period. We move more secure mobile data than anyone else.We have substantial cash and are not a small VC-backed “pure play” MDM player seeking additional funds every year.Security is not debatable – regardless of the deviceBYOD users may be able to bring any device to work, but it’s our job to ensure the risk doesn’t follow them in. Whether you’re deploying corporate-owned iPads or allowing BYOD Android™ devices, security is paramount. We have more certifications from government agencies than any other vendor and we’re the only EMM vendor and handset maker to receive the Department of Defense “Authority to Operate” certification.Governments, global corporations and organizations that will not compromise on security continue to choose and trust BlackBerry.BES10 is your future Enterprise Mobility SolutionWe know that BlackBerry devices are not for everyone. That’s OK.As we committed to earlier – we are more than just a device company. Today, BES10 supports multi-platform MDM, mobile application management and security. We have also made it as easy and low cost as possible for you to trial and deploy BES10.In the coming weeks, we will continue to have an open conversation with you. Keep an eye out for an EMM Realities webcast series where we will drill down into the key areas in this letter. In the meantime, I want your feedback on how we can better serve your EMM needs.I believe in BlackBerry and I’m confident in our future in enterprise, our technology and our ability to adapt to changing market needs.Sincerely,John S. Then ur 3gb activates till 6am. So as long as u dnt exhaust ur 1.5gb, its safe to say u av a 24hrs plan NB: do not dwnload durin daytime, DO B TEMPTED. I hope evry1 undastands now, if u dnt, go n ask ifaI just wonder if u have use this plan b4 because seriously u got it all wrong. Ur 1.5gig goes first and after that u can only browse at night and weekends Saturday and Sundays |
The only reasonable post from an Android user so far. Airtel network was the fastest b4 bis for android even their edge then was faster than mtn 3g when android started using it airtel network became slow that even with 3g u will be struggling to open ordinary Facebook Mobile page. And another thing is airtel are the one losing by allowing android users to use their bis on their phone because it does not go through bb server as blackberry phones does. So for me airtel know what they are doing because they were losing the real customer like banks, companies and organisations that uses their Internet. Nothing lasts forever. |
henchyk: The crowd had slowed down Airtel's network miserably the past few months and i don't blame them because their network used to be the fastest before this bb on android thing came up and probably will become the fastest again after the 3rd of December when they flush us all out. Seems like Airtel is finally willing to sacrifice quantity for quality and i think the decision is the best for them in the long-term. |
good question...since I have BBM on my phone, what diff does it make.....maybe they can only block does without bbm sha
stop sounding like a kid. Didnt mtn and etisalat with glo block their bis from other phones? What makes u think airtel can't. For ur information bis (blackberry Internet service) goes through blackbery (rim) server not true airtel or mtn as u guy think thats why bis is cheap. BlackBerry devices.RIM's BIS servers also compress data so that data going from your BlackBerry to your cellular service provider uses half as much data as you would on other smartphones. So instead of using, for example, 1 GB of data on an Android or an iPhone, you will use roughly half of that, or 500 MB of data. Many cellular service providers now offer one unlimited data plan. However, others are faced with paying for data based on usage, or buying plans which rise in cost based on how much data you think you will use. So by compressing data, RIM is enabling you to buy a lower cost data plan than you would have to buy if you were using another smartphone. It also saves your cellular service provider's network traffic and assists them to be able to serve more customers on the same network. |
tosnat: So na for only night We go dey browse. We nogo sleep again abi, students nogo read again abino the plan is 3gb but with additional 1.5gig making it 4.5gb the 1.5gb u can use anytime but once u finish the 1.5gb u will be browing only at night from 9pm till 6am. But during the weekend Saturday to monday ur nit plan will work during the day even if u have finished the 1.5gb |
For those of u asking why bis is cheaper than other smartphone data plans here is the reason ...................... what is a BlackBerry (BIS) Data Plan? BIS stands for BlackBerry Internet Service. BlackBerry has published documentation for their BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) athttp://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/46577/BlackBerry_Internet_Service-Feature_and_Technical_Overview-1339006565432-4.3-en.pdf Many of you have asked why you need a BIS plan at all. People have asked us why they need to pay a cellular service provider for a BIS plan when they have access to a Wi-Fi network. Similarly, many people who do NOT have a BIS plan ask us why they don't have access to BBM, Facebook and other features of your BlackBerry smartphone. The following is our understanding of BIS and why it is important:Email and Research In Motion (RIM)'s apps on your SmartPhone, such as BBM & Facebook, route its data through RIM's global network of BIS servers. The BIS network provides an extremely high level of security (arguably unparalleled in mobile computing) to protect your data. Articles continue to come out regularly attesting to RIM's significantly higher level of security than available on Android and iPhone smartphones. This is the reason that many of us decided to buy a BlackBerry in the first place. The result is that our data goes thru RIM's proprietary BIS network and is protected by their extremely high level of security. This security protects our email and all data that comes through our BlackBerry devices.RIM's BIS servers also compress data so that data going from your BlackBerry to your cellular service provider uses half as much data as you would on other smartphones. It also saves your cellular service provider's network traffic and assists them to be able to serve more customers on the same network.. so here u have it if u need cheap data service get ur self a bb with glo comonth of 1k for 3gig u can share ur 3gig with wifi to ur android smartphones and tabs. It saves u stress and money. I have a Samsung galaxy note but my bb is still my main phone cos with just 1k am good to go and even when I finish the 3gig I can sub again at the end of the month I might end up spending only 2k but with Android I spend close to 5k to 6k under a month. If u dont like old bb phone u can try the bb10 phones they are awesome and now u can install any Android app u want in them. My token. Am sorry airtel don push una comot cos una dey slow their network down. |
alhyhat: cant c masef using bb again, carrying charger everywhereif u dont want to be carrying charger then get ur self a bb10 phone or better still port to mtn night plan for 2500 for 4.5gb |
