Cribs with BUMPERS also have their concerns, it's has also been said to be linked to crib deaths, I wud say utmost care n vigilance is key in which ever choice u make for ur LO.
Also, Some cribs are dual (bed n play pen).
But I love wooden cribs, I already have one, I plan on using bumpers, but without frills n pads. Found one online called WONDER BUMPERS, it's said to be safer dan regular ones.
@ cuteaidomo u can watch videos on YouTube on How to make bumpers and a good tailor can replicate.

Personally I prefer a wooden crib, neva even considered a play pen. I saw this picture online and i got a good furniture guy to make something similar for me.

You can buy a crib bumper to avoid this.
Personally I prefer the wooden crib or you can do both.

I did go with some tests from whr I registered for antenatal in naija it wasn't much, my dr said I had to redo some and in total it cost $95. I was also told $179 from doctoresparati,but Denise told me wen I went for my first appointment the test might not get to the quoted amount and it didnt.

@Cuteaidomo, It's easy to book your flights with Travelstart. I always book my flights with them and it's been a great experience so far. There is a good chance that you are going to get cheap flight fares compared to any other sites. When you book your flights, and make payment, you will get your e-ticket in your mail. I flew emirates at 33 weeks from Lagos to Dallas. I only had to present my fit to fly which was written when I was 32weeks+. No further questions was asked and I had no issues with them. The hostesses doted on me while on board, always checking on me bringing me water to stay hydrated and kept asking if I needed anything else. Besides the fact that the journey was really long and tiring, it was a pleasant experience over all. I'm not sure what else you want to know.

My dearest sister, it is not trouble making but warning other unsuspecting mums who might fall victims. It's because it didn't happen to you or anyone close to you. It has happened to someone close to me and it is very horrific. I will beg her to come share her experience. It was very sad to say the least but I thank God it ended in praise for her. I still maintain that the man and the hospital Are not equipped for higher order risk deliveries! Why cross all the oceans, seas, rivers, lakes,streams from Nigeria to the United States with a higher risk pregnancy to end up with such a facility or get exposed to such a nasty experience? Is it really worth it? And who says that 36 weeks of multiple pregnancy guarantees one of evading the NICU route? Let us properly guide one another here. Let us tell one another the truth and save someone from making a mistake she will regret later on.


Note: I am not saying he is not a good doctor . My take is that he is not equipped for higher risk order pregnancy deliveries , neither is Oakbend!

I’ve been a silent reader on this thread but just picked up the courage to join the community. I stumbled on the 1st part of this thread in Nov 2013 when it was just about 45 pages. I just returned to the discussion due to my plans for the second missionary journey for Oct- Dec.

I got my VISA in January 2014 and was all set to go to El Paso.

However, due to hubby’s inability to make the initial leg of the trip and it being my own first time in the US, I ended up with my cousins in Houston (one of them a Doctor). I was referred to Oakbend/ Dr. Ezekiel and had my son in April(2014). To the glory of God, the vaginal delivery was quick and without epidural although my naija doctors had been telling me I was gonna end up with CS.

I had a very good experience and would refer Dr Ezekiel without any reservations although at that time she took very few naija patients. Because of our issues, I guess. I’m happy to know she’s relaxed her rule now

With respect to the recent issues with Dr. F, I would like us to be somewhat merciful. I do not support what he did by not showing up for the delivery or taking on more than he can chew. I would also recommend that he be made to do a refund or compensation.

However, I would want to point out the situation is a consequence of the bombardment from we naija patients. Let’s not forget that he’s been one of the few Drs who respond to emails and give correspondences that a number of people (NOT ME) have used for VISA or POE purpose.
So the caveat is that only people with uncomplicated pregnancies or very limited options should use him.

By the grace of God, I would be in Dallas for my next delivery and would be sure to post details of the doctor and hospital fees soon.

I don't see why people have to be rude to others because you know something they don't.Share if you want to and ignore if you don't want to share.Theres absolutely no reason for sarcastic comments laced with insults.
Even though I had my first baby in MD,it still hasn't stopped me from asking Olokings several questions(some bordering on ridiculous) and he's answered every single one of them.
Someone asks how to get a ticket and instead of you to mention one or two booking websites,someone else actually goes into an unnecessarily long lengthy response on why the question is ridiculous.
Please let's learn to be courteous and civil to one another.Please visit the 2 visa consular threads and see how these guys politely answer all our questions.why we can't do same here?

in as much as we have librarians, there are references to books and these librarians can buh only give you these references and may be recommended a few books that may/may not give you better insight to the knowledge you seek.

truth is, people have taken their precious time out to type of these experiences, discuss these issues (sometimes not even up to 20 pages away)... now if we/they keep re-answering the same questions, trust me this thread will become stale because all you will have is pages upon pages of the same exact information. there will be no diversity ergo we all should just queue to one specific place.

now when some veterans comes off as being sacarstic (bottom line is hook line and sinker is being handed down to newbies to learn how to fish) with directives, they are simply showing us the way to go about fending for ourselves and in the end you see people coming up with even better new spots and deals that beats what was being posting here before.

the united states is a very big place (as much as if not even bigger than west africa sef) and there are uncharted areas as far as this birth tourism thing goes.

so please do not pick office with our referals and directives to newbies to try and read the thread.

me that i am talking to you have not even clocked in or celebrated any anniversary on this forum / thread sef, buh i took my time to read and understand the logic of the process of this birth tourism ergo my decision not to follow the band wagon.
