2nd jobs and savings. Print off 3 months bank statements - go through and highlight anything that you can live without. Cut it out. Shop around for utilities - several companies will pay you to join them(use QUIDCO to search), jump ship if it's cheaper. Pare down your food budget by batch cooking. Set yourself a target x amount in 6, 9, 12 months - and aim to meet it.

Go through your stuff - sell off anything you haven't used or worn in 3 months (raised almost 5k by selling off clothes, shoes, baby stuff that was just accumulating dust in my house) - do not spend the money!

If you're renting a larger house, take a Mon to Fri boarder.

With 95% mortgages, it's much more easier to get a mortgage.

Can I email you please?

for police certificate u will need to visit FCID Alagbon Ikoyi or Zone 10 Abuja or Force HQAbuja. Better still if u have any one in the above three locations, you can send them to go to those places and get ur cert by proxy. They should not start announcing from the door that it is proxy o.. the orice will jump from there before u even get inside.
They will get the form for you, there is an instruction video that can be sent along with the form to whatsapp to you, you will then need to print out, complete and thumbprint in all sections alongside submission of the data page of ur intl passport and send back. It will be done and u get ur certificate.
The price going to government is 3500, anyone u are sending there should be a natural bargainer otherwise u will be very well extorted.
Lagos is faster.

Thanks so much for this info..

I need help o!!
I got an offer of employment at HMRC and I have been asked to provide one of the following documents:
*Suitable proof of residence for time spent abroad
*References from UK departments and agencies based overseas (e.g. FCO missions, British Council, non-Government Departments and agencies (NGOs)).
*Where available, official and verifiable overseas police certificates obtained from the country or countries of residence (Home Office Police Certificate link here)
*AirBnB receipts confirming dates and addresses of residence

I have gone to the NHC website and I saw that I need to book an appointment for thumbprint for the PCC, unfortunately, the number isn't available and the prompt says it's disconnected.

How do I go about this please?
Help me o

Shipping Naija food to the UK is tricky. Regular garri, poundo, Egusi etc no issues. Other items like Fish/fish related items, meat and beans are considered contraband. Yam and Oil are they ‘that must not be named’ grin. Contraband items can be sent via a special DHL license we have but it’s not cheap.

If you’re in Scotland, depending on your location I can tell you where to get Naija food in Glasgow. Otherwise order from Wosiwosi. They dey try. If you insist on fresh fish from your village in bayelsa, then I’ve got you but be ready to pay wink

Lol ..na real bayelsa village... I'm in Fife actually

I'm not very sure but i think there is a question like that in the form, but at least you disclosed it in the TB form, again the IHS charge covers all that.

No question of such in the application. My TB reflected it... And at the time of my application I was about 7 months gone

QurratulAyn:
Thank you so much for your swift response @ just wise. May God bless you.

For me to have a total peace of mind just wise, I hope not disclosing it in the application form won't cause an issue upon arrival as there's no question regarding medical or pregnancy.

My husband did all the processing over there and said it's not an issue but I want to be sure? @Justwise.

Why are you worrying? Please pack your load and leave... My stomach was as big as a big pot... 4th pregnancy and I rocked it with all pleasure at the POE. There is absolutely no law that says defendant spouse can't come in with pregnancy. Its included in your NHS sef. Baby has free meds till 3 months old...

Good day everyone. I'm a new member in this forum.

I and my son got our visa as a tier 4 dependant after 4 days of using priority service last week but I'm 5 months pregnant now.

I want to ask if pregnancy won't be a barrier from entering into the UK even thou it's already ticked in the TB result @Justwise @Mimilyric. Thanks

Not at all.. I was 34 weeks when I got my visa and travelled the following week after I got the visa

Hello everyone,
Please I hope there will be no issue if two siblings apply to the same school in uk for master’s using the parent’s statement for both admission and visa.
Or is it better they apply to different schools and use different bank statements?
The parent is the sponsor for both of them.
Thank you for responding.

I don't see any issues here so long the amount in your parents account covers the expenses for both of you I.e tuition and living expense

Somebody help!

I would like to get clarification on amount of money required as proof of fund for Visa application. My full course fee is 28,710GBP - 2years course. I have paid 10,616GBP to the school.
I understand cost of living is 9,207GBP.

Question: HOW much am I expected to show for Visa application? The balance of my full tuition fee + cost of living OR the balance of tuition fee for the first year (I.e 50%) + cost of living?

Need your response pls o! As I need to be sure I still have sufficient fund for Visa.

Since you already paid half the tuition, all you need to show in your statement is the tuition balance and 9 months living expenses

You can apply online for a provisional licence as a new resident.
After applying and paying online, they will post to you a short form to complete and send back enclosing a passport photo for the licence and your residence permit which they will return to you.

There's no need to upload any proof or reference letter from the school.
The I formation needed is just name of the school they attend/attended which you will fill, the class (not so sure, can't remember of this was asked) and the contact no of the School. I put the phone number of the school owner in my case. I didn't upload any document pertaining to their school

What did you do to get free appliances on gumtree
Just go the gumtree (you can download the app) type what you need and sort the price from low to high, it will list out free items first before paid items. Don't forget to fill in your code so you can get stuffs close to where you stay. Then send a message to the poster if it's available. But ensure to check if the item is listed as 'like new' or 'good' . if its fair don't bother.

Same applies to FACEBOOK market place

Finally landed on the soil of England

Did Covid test at 02 medical diagnoses, Amuwo branch.
The flight was BA yesterday's 9th February and got her4.50 am today. It was a long and tiring queue at the border...
Questions asked:
Passports requested
Who is the student? Hubby
Do you have your CAS: yes, soft copy and showed them from my hubby's email
Covid test result and locators form and that was it...
They drilled several Nigerian, some with study visa

But I give God all the glory.

On our passenger locator form, we filled in my bro in-laws address in Essex and states that we would leave 7 days after the 10 days quarantine.

The final destination is Scotland

I wish everyone the best

An update:
Eventually got someone to help sort out the accommodation. We got a 3bed at Dunfermline @£680pm and deposited £680 as well. The house came unfurnished and I got most of the household items free via FACEBOOK market place and gumtree.

Quarantine ended on Friday, we moved to Scotland on Saturday via train. It was a smooth journey. Hubby was able to pick up all our BRPs. We registered with NHS and I was also able to get an appointment with a GP for Wednesday. I am due at any moment (36 weeks).

So far, the weather no be here sha as I have no shock absorber for cold

Thanks for your info, there's no need for the back and forth. What each of us will experience before and during our trips will differ (lagos,Abuja,Kano or Port Harcourt airport won't offer you same scenario on every intending trip)though there might be similarities,I didn't wish to give away over 100k for covid (for children under 11),atleast I don't grow money from trees. This is my opinion,it's an advise base on my experience and am not forcing it on anyone.it is for anyone atall to accept or reject it.I will not get any benefit should anyone carry out this test or not for children under 11yrs.so
I rest my case on this topic

I wasn't arguing with you neither did I void your story!!!
I started with 'this wasn't so with me' meaning in my own case, we didn't have to run tests on the kids.

To each to its own. I only shared my recent experience which is clearly stated on their websites.. Calm down!!

Use google, search for 3 beds+ private landlords (openrent,Gumtree, zoopla and etc) will help.
Am in Glasgow since last week. I also those with visas to start searching for accommodation and request for video viewing. I started these 14 days before our(family of 4) trip and that really helped a lot.
Beta snow de Scotland o but las las na rat race so we go survive.
@cutieb, did you run covid test for all your kids?

Thanks for this..i am on it and I am making progress regarding accommodation.

I didn't do covid test for any of my kids because they fall under the exempted age (below 10) 8, 5 and 3 years

Please do test for everyone o else naija immigration officials will mess you up.
We(me,hubby and to kids) arrived Scotland on Wednesday and it was mandatory for especially with naija airport.

This wasn't so with me. Hubby and I were the only ones that did the covid test and we didn't even show any of the naija immigration officers because it's not their business. We came through BA and we showed them at the BA counter on Tuesday and also when we got to Heathrow POE on Wednesday morning. For reference purpose, my kids are all below 10 years and it's clearly stated on both BA and UK websites that kids below 10 are exempted.

If they are boys then you are good to go with 2bed.Only advising 3bed flat incase if you will be adding another baby soon and also if you have family members /friends visiting you. Just make sure the bedrooms are Double. Moving to a premises and moving out after a year due to overcrowding is a difficult thing to do. If you are good with your property search, you can get 2-3 bed flats almost with same price range or at most less than £100 different.

Thank you so much.. Well noted

If you can see a 2 bed with 2 double rooms then maybe it can be manageable because you can fit a bunk bed at one end and a single bed at another end. Although tight with wardrobe but possible . If you put a double bed instead of bunk that then 3 boys sleeping on one double bed can be tight sha

But a good number of 2 bed have a double room for the parents and a small box(single room) as the second bed. Its almost impossible to sleep 3 in a single room. In africa it not a big deal but here it can be classify it as over crowding if any of the boys is over 10 years . ....I belive that why
Phenmeson is advising you on 3 bed

So if you insist on 2 bed then check that the 2 bed has to be 2 double rooms

Thank you so much.. Although my boys are below 9 but will put it into consideration.

For family of 5, you need at least 3bedroom flat. Is advisable you go for semi furnished just because of kids so as not to pay more fees on damages when moving out of the property https://www.zoopla.co.uk/to-rent/flats/3-bedrooms/edinburgh/

My 3 kids are boys, a 2 bedroom for a start. Thanks a lot

I realized getting an accommodation as a johnny just come in the UK is an arduous task, you apply as if applying for jobs then they will tell u they are running checks. I tell you for a fact, sometimes they don't. If you ask from your referee, you will realize that they were not contacted.

I will advice OP to exert efforts, and a very sure link is getting linked up to a house owner if you are lucky to find one

Thank you but I don't know anyone in Edinburgh, Scotland
