Panjshir Falls to Taliban as Top Commanders Killed | In an ominous end to Afghanistan‘s resistance, the Taliban have successfully taken over few territories of Panjshir Valley — the last bastion of the war-torn nation untouched by the hardliners — inflicting massive damage and casualties on the Resistance Force led by caretaker President Amrullah Saleh who is safe after bombardment at the house where he was staying but has been moved to an undisclosed location. Several top commanders of the Resistance Force, including spokesperson Fahim Dashti and others like Gul Haider Khan, Munib Amiri and Wadood, a nephew of Ahmad Shah Massoud, have been killed. |

[quote author=Whyem15 post=105459754]If there is one thing that will destroy the work of the current service chiefs, it is lack of publicity. The fact that many people believe the military isn't doing anything about bandits and criminals is in itself a driving force for criminality. In order for deterrence to work, it must be adequately publicized. Apart from deterrence, showing members of the public their efforts in protecting their lives and properties will increase people's confidence and trust in them which will lead to increase support and intelligence gathering. It is human nature to always want to belong to the winning side. This is exactly why many are afraid to provide the military with information because they are afraid of what the bandits/terrorists will do to them when they "win" ! |

shadowprimezero: The FLIR ISR pod, or in this case the Elecro-optical targeting system EOTS, guides the GBU Paveways and APKWS to target using a laser designator to "paint" the target. In this configuration, having a FLIR pod in no way affects its mission statement as a strike aircraft nor does it hinder it from carrying munition but rather, increases its efficiency. Conducting ISR and strike missions is not mutually exclusive.
Additionally on the Tucano, the FLIR pod has its own dedicated hardpoint away from the weapons pylons. With the secrecy around this Tucanos, no pictures of our armaments I hope we weren't cheated from our good deal. The CAS is goddam too secretive. |
