Hello, my appointment is on the 8th of January can i do walk in on the fifth, and would i have to pay any extra amount for walk in pls tls centre is ikeja

You can attempt a walk-in any day, but Ikeja is always busy as opposed to VI.
If its just 2 days in between the dates, why bother, might as well wait till the 8th.

But an appropriate answer to the question indeed.

It's the same application. Are you saying I should state I was refused twice?

You made one application to an embassy for a visa.
It was refused.
You appealed the decision.
The appeal was dismissed.
So your initial refusal stands.

This is only one application, one case and hence one refusal, I don't see how it can be considered to be two separate refusals.

In your UK visa form, indicate it as only one refusal from whichever country that was.

Your lawyer will be able to give you specific advice, but I think its almost a given that the child's father will be brought into the matter especially given the different last names in your case and I think you should be specifically ready for that.

I just hope and pray
It does not get to the point
Where we have to do a second lockdown in Nigeria

The economic dislocation we will suffer will be too much to bear
But if we have mass infections
This might just be the case

Nothing, but nothing will justify a second lockdown in Naija.
The lives vs livelihoods pendulum should come down firmly on the side of the latter.
The oyibo man has the economic and political flexibility to play around with lockdowns (money to pay for furloughed employees, relatively stable societies which can understand the measures, be persuaded to agree therewith, etc.). We don't.

While Covid is undoubtedly a bad thing to those whose family and friends died from or were sickened by it, in the harsh light of reality, the Covid fatality rate is simply not high enough to justify the severe, once-in-a-generation economic pain the lockdown measures cause and which unstable societies in Africa might not be able to withstand.

Hello guys. @Mimilyrics @justwise @Lagosismyhome @Aprokodaughter

Please, is it safe to make a print out of my bank statement from November 1st - til date ?
My agent is advising this because of lack of activities in my statement of account. I’ve had the money available for more than 6 months now. Deferred my admission owing to COVID-19 uncertainties, and the money itself has remained untouched since then.

Please respond.

You dont need to make any transactions on the account at all as far as the money you need to satisfy the requirement is there

Pls I want to ask; since there is no more available dates this year at Ikeja tls,

1. can I pick any date, and then go for flexi/walk-in tomorrow or next?

2. I filled Ikeja tls in my pre CAs form, can I now go for biometrics in another location due to date?

Pre CAS form?
If you havent yet filled the UKVI visa application, then you can select any location for the biometrics.
Once you have made a selection, you can't change your selected location unless you cancel the application and complete another form.

Hello guys I need clarification on this
About the statement of account, we have been running the account in which money has been coming in and out. Is it true the money is meant to be untouchable for 28days? Like no debit alert that it's just meant 2 be credit alert?

Money can go in and out.
Just ensure that the balance on the account never falls below the amount you need to show.

E.g. if you need to show UKVI the equivalent of 10,000 pounds, let's say you use a naira exchange rate of 600 to 1 (rate used for illustration purposes, you'll need to check for the exact exchange rate to use on oanda.com and advisedly add a little buffer to allow for fluctuations), making 6 million naira, then ensure that your balance does not fall below 6 million naira at any time during the 28 days no matter how you withdraw.

Hello people I need a bit of clarification on this. Can I quarantine in a friends place in the UK. Though during my application I stated I didn’t have family in the UK which is true. I urgently would love to know cos I am traveling Soon.

You can quarantine anywhere you chose, just ensure you fill out the locator form within the stipulated timeframe.

Hello House,
I am about to get a nice paying job in London but the company is requesting for my National Insurance Number which is yet to be given to me. My question is what do I fill in my application , it can't be left blank. Thanks

If you are in the UK and have the entitlement to work, then you tell the company that you've yet to get a NiNo, they will know what to do in terms of arranging a temporary code. And if you havent already applied, apply fast - they're no longer holding interviews due to Covid, so that has speeded up the process somewhat.

I am sponsoring my wife to the UK and on the check list of document needed there is one that says "evidence that your sponsor is not or will not be in breach of UK immigration laws at the time of your visit". What document is this please and what other document can suffice for it ?

Please help a brother

Proof of your legal status in the UK should be sufficient for this.

There seems to be a misconception about Citizenship by Investment programs. Most buyers of these programs are not relocating to these Carribbean countries. In fact the majority remain in their home countries as it is just for the passport. Nigerians make up only a tiny fraction of them as Chinese, Arab and Indians are the top subscribers.

Also, someone said drug dealers and fraudsters are the ones subscribing for them from Nigeria. Very unlikely. The Carribbean countries conduct strict background checks as it is a significant revenue stream and they won't want to lose visa free access to key countries (that's where the value of their passport lies in). I think it was St Lucia that lost visa free access to Canada after giving citizenship to an Iranian. Requirements are more stringent now and go beyond just having the money.

For one, you must pass Interpol clearance.

Very well said.
Nobody wants to go and live on Nevis, as alluring as a tropical island sounds, or bank there, they want the visa-free access to the EU and Canada the passport offers.

Please don’t get my point wrong o. There’s nothing wrong with moving to another country if one is frustrated with his situation in Nigeria. But don’t just jump from fry pan to fire.

Some of those countries you are listing are countries that even the citizens are struggling. And life is not as cheap as you think it is. At the end of the day, you are a foreigner and you will be discriminated against. Big time. Mind you, many of the so called Nigerian expats you keep talking about in those countries are into yahoo, drugs and other criminal activities. Others are doing the lowest level menial jobs to survive.

You sound like a smart chap and I’m very sure you will do well in Naija or other countries where there are jobs for legit immigrants. I maintain that Naija is not that bad if you are doing well. And some people are. No be human beings dey make that N50m wey person mention the other day?

My advice. Focus on finding a good job in Naija and try to build your career while trying to get permanent residency in countries like the US, Canada, UK, etc.

Alternatively, with a few years solid work experience in Naija, try to get into a reputable school where recruiters from top global firms will pick you up and place you in correct jobs with those armed robber salaries any where in the world that will enable you save enough to retire early and then go and relax in the Caribbeans with lots of passive income from your investments.

Also, find a girlfriend jare. That also helps to take your mind off all the nonesense going on in the country. Again I’m assuming you are into women wink

Lol, this man.

I discussed this in this group sometime back. I think it was with dexterous abi someone like that. I was planning to get citizenship from one of the Caribbean islands until the plans got delayed by the increasing exchange rate. Like me, most of the people going for this are not doing it to relocate but for ease of travel, not having to queue here and there for visas. With such passport, one can just wake up one morning and decide to go the UK, Singapore or anywhere, all you need is to get a plane ticket. Plus, you avoid all that extra interrogation and suspicion you get at foreign airports when you hold a Nigerian passport.

This.

Apart from the Banana Island, 48PA can do all the others you listed if you continue to work in such a place. The only time it seems not to be enough is when you assume the man will not keep working at that place after one year.

4m a month puts you in bigger boy status. Statements like needing more than 4m to be a big boy is one of the things that drives greed and leads to a lot more stealing in Nigeria.

Agreed.
And with that amount you can afford to send your children to school abroad with good planning, assuming 3 children spaced 2-3 years apart and average (say UK) undergraduate fees + maintenance of GBP20k annually.

And when Shell now leaves the country, they will start blaming Buhari.

Warri, a once thriving city is now on the rapid decline with so much unemployment. When the people there were sabotaging the IOCs just for a few gains, they thought they were doing the IOCs. They are now begging the IOCs to come back.

My brother, Warri is a microcosm of the Nigerian failure.
When they were doing all the nonsense kidnapping and other crap, they thought the IOCs had no choice but to put up with it because "money dey here na".

Now look at the place. It's a shadow of its former self, just like Nigeria as well, and on the way to obscurity and irrelevance except as a case study in How Not to Shoot Yourself in the Foot, most probably just like Nigeria as well.

I will be going with my husband and kids and in the consent letter I talked about renting a temporary accommodation for the quarantine but would be confirmed after Visa. The temporary accommodation was gotten from booking.com. the booking has been confirmed but I haven't paid yet for it. Is this okay to attach to my visa application?

If you like you can - it makes no difference either way as securing advance accommodation is not a requirement for a Tier 4 visa.

Bank statements carry your address.

Please what is the best answer for the following question;
1- Does anyone rely on you for financial support?
Include both those travelling with you and those who are not.

NB. my husband will be travelling with me
if i say Yes, should i mention only him or include my kids who wont be joining us?

Does your husband rely on you for financial support?
If you are the dependant (in both senses of the word), then your answer to this question is no.

I understand now, thank you so much.

You'll be better off if you have a family member/friend in the UK you can totally rely on - coming to the UK alone with a baby planning to take it out to a childminder/creche every so often so you can attend your classes while trying to adjust to a new environment will require a herculean effort on your part.

My advice - recruit a suitable female relation and leave the baby at home with your husband and instead travel with one of your older children, old enough to either be in primary school and be comfortable sat in front of a TV for the 2 weeks quarantine period/any time it takes you to find a permanent address before you can register them in school. Bottle-feeding wont kill anyone. Then when your husband's done, he brings the other two children across.

Have you driven a right hand or in the UK?Do you know the motor rules and signs??If you don't please take some lessons first and test your knowledge. It is not enough to have an international license.

In addition, what category is General Insurance?? I presume you might be talking about Comprehensive. Are you a named driver on the policy? If not you need to speak to an insurance company first

There's also MOT and Road Tax

If you get pulled over by the police and you don't have all these, you could accrue points or be banned from driving( which may or may not affect your visa, not sure of the link between both agencies)

Be very sure before you proceed, driving here is not the same with Nigeria.

Cheers

This should be pinned somewhere on this page for all those newly moving to the UK.
Apart from the novelty of driving RHS cars for many of us, coming from Nigeria, take it that you are NOT a good road user w.r.t signage and all that.
Don't just enter the road people, take lessons first.

RHS is also tricky when you are LHS, sometimes you lose attention and wander or look the wrong way. Best to start with short routes first, then gradually expand scope.

Even people born in the 70s and 80s in nigeria have government issued birth certificate . There no way it only started in 1992

The centralised issuing of birth certificates at the federal level through the NPC started in '92.
Prior to that, birth certificates were issued by the states through the local governments (and they still are), so there was no national record of births and deaths (for statistical, planning purposes) like what obtains in many other countries.

In theory anyone born in Nigeria after 1992 is supposed to have an NPC-issued birth certificate, but sometimes parents don't or can't get one.

Must their living expense be in my own account or can my husband use his account statement for the 2 of them? He already has the money in his account. It can be in either his or yours.

If he can use his account statement, do I still need to include mine along side his own? No.

Lol..wait until you work with any of them, they don't like blacks and they can gossip for Africa...they laugh with you but knock you off behind your back. They're pretenters ain't holy but better than some Africans.

It's the colour hierarchy thingy - Indians, Arabs and Turks, Chinese et al are more racist towards blacks than Europeans are.
Except some of those Asians in the UK, who are property owners and sometimes show solidarity with blacks when it comes to renting out houses and things like that - they've also experienced racism from oyibo, so they are sometimes more sympathetic to those also experiencing it.

But in general, they are lousy when it comes to race relations.
That said, however, I do agree with all said about their ability to get ahead in the world and it is indeed something we should be emulating.

Good evening my people.
I have a friend that has two options available to pick from.
1. Uk, a year master's in Energy and Power System (but he has no relevant experience)
2. France, 2 years master's in Telecommunications (with 5-6 Months internship).
Pls, which one should he go for?
Looking forward to responses.
Thanks.

Wide open question with no qualifiers.
Only he can answer the question, so short answer - let him go for whichever he wants.

If you add the qualifier of post-school perspectives, he will get a year in France and 2 years in the UK.
If he doesn't speak French fluently, his prospects of finding a job in France are low.
